Yesterday evening, A-Shift was dispatched to the 1600 block of Lee Rd 262 for a reported grass fire near a residence.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a double wide mobile home with heavy smoke showing from the eaves. The call was then upgraded to a working structure fire. Firefighters made an interior attack to find heavy fire involvement in the attic space of the residence. Firefighters were able to gain access to the fire and extinguish it before it spread throughout the home. The fire was contained to two bedrooms of the residence. There were no injuries reported on scene, and the cause of the fire was determined to be a small controlled burn next to the residence that got out of hand.
BFD responded with four apparatus, six personnel, and were on scene for two hours. Lee County EMA and Lee County Sheriffs Office also responded to the scene to assist BFR.
Shortly after arriving on scene, BFD was dispatched to a 2nd structure fire. Responding units split between the 1st and 2nd fire. Mutual aid was also requested from Huguley Fire Department to the 2nd fire. BFD units arrived in the area to find a controlled burn with no structures involved. All units returned to service, and responded to the 1st fire.
