Hahaha I mean, isn’t that what every teenage cis-boy does?? It just makes sense that every boy wished they were a girl 😂 Also so glad you picked up on that - your trans identity is uniquely yours and there’s no right way to be trans! 🏳️⚧️🥳
I totally get this feeling! I go by three main names, Jas, Jasper and Jasmine and then about 20 nicknames haha. I'm thinking of changing my legal name to Jas so its easier to go by either of the full names without outing myself/ confusing people. Mainly I really want to lop off my middle name, which is a disney villian name that I've definitely outgrown haha. Filing the paperwork is meant to be simple, but always seems like a lot of effort haha.
My friend sent me this like "you need to get more names, she's beating you!" I love both Sadie and Sophie and Soph as like a nickname. Just need to one more to match your level!
Ahahahaha I’M WINNING!!! 😈😂 Those are all gorgeous names by the way, also what about like Sades as a nickname for Sadie?? We gotta get you on ma level!! 🥳😂
Wait WAIT NO THIS ISNT WHAT I MEANT 🤯🥳 DAMMIT now I needa find a fifth name!!! … my father-in-law occasionally calls me G, HAH! FIVE YUS 🥳😂 gotta keep up on your level now 😅
I love all 4 of your names they are all very similar but I think Grace definitely suits you very well but I support your decision on any of those names because they are so pretty ! 💖 I watched your video on gender fluid because my bf/gf is legally born male but he goes by she/her and I’m a female so I watched it to understand what gender fluid means because I wasn’t quite familiar with it I never understood what it was so thank you for the explanation of it 💖 I kinda understand what it is now
I genuinely adore your channel and have been following you for quite a while now ! You initially helped me to see positive nonbinary representations online, which really helped me come to terms with my own identity, and now I just love following your journey! Plus you're from New Zealand and I am DEEPLY fascinated by NZ (may do my master's thesis on it even 👀👀👀)
Awwww thank you this comment is so wonderful to see!! :D Ahhh I feel so honoured to have been able to be a part of your own journey to figure out your identity!!
@@Seadresa i study environment/politics and am hoping to do my thesis on Maori 'Indigenous ecological knowledge' and the extent to which it's used/how it's used/effectively in NZ environmental governance...of course i have to be careful here as i'm not Indigenous (and don't want to misrepresent/be exploitative) and don't really have NZ connections so maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew 😅 i wish sheep knowledge could help here but alas (or maybe it can who knows!!)
I’ve been watching a lot of your videos, and find this topic very interesting and I love your personality, and how you are able to break everything down to people who are kind of new to this stuff… you seem like a beautiful person and I hope to see more videos from you in the future! :)
I've never been to your channel before, and I really enjoyed this video. It's always fascinating to think about identity and names, and how it's possible to end up with different names that all feel valid depending on the situation. Also, I lost the game. Thanks for that. lol.
Naw, well thanks for visiting!! :) It's so interesting thinking about how our names are so malleable and changeable depending on situations! I like to think that all aspects of identity are fluid, and this is a great example of that! Also HAHA made you lose the game but also DAMMIT I LOST THE GAME AGAIN TOO!
Interesting. I thought the video would be the adding names to your name. I found out that I can have two first names, so I added another name for my middle name, Harristina. Then I saw the movie "Spy Kids" as U was just peeking out into the world late as Transgender. The girl had to give her full name and it was "Carmen Elizabeth Juanita Echo Sky Brava Cortez," I loved the adding in of names. So I had to name my favorite Romanov name "Tatiana." I was really big into K.N.D... still am a bit ... so I had to add "Abigail," So, I was Karen Marie Harristina Tatiana Abigail. Now, I am just going to legally change to Karen Marie Harristina. I have to say that I love your spirit of your video. Keep up the good work from a new fan.
Hi I was told that there are no Grey area’s, everything is ever black or white. I think you have proved them all wrong, You are Fabulous & I Love Grae. Love April 💋
Everything is a Grae area - definitely glad I could prove them wrong! Also I use that pun WAY too much and I love it 😂 so glad you like my name April! 🥰
Ahh I’m so glad about that!! I’ve heard the term “birth name” used instead of dead names, and for me I think that works so much nicer as my old name isn’t dead to me ❤️
So glad you were able find a name close to your legal name and be happy with it. I went the other way, and for a few months people abstained from calling me anything until they got used to my new one.
Me too! It’s just kinda popped up and works well for me! We all have our name journeys! I hope the people in your life have gotten used to your new name now ❤️
@@Seadresa Mine kinda popped up in my head as well. Like I would mentally try them out in my head for a day and the one that stuck was Allison. I really like it!
I have collected names too lol. My birth name is Jessica. Never connected to it. So people called me Jess. When I started down my gender journey I chose Jason as my masculine name. And for work & family reasons the nickname JJ was born. Honestly it has become the name I connect with most. Like you my birth name is pretty much just for legal documents. And a couple ppl still call me Jason. But Jess and JJ seem to be the top ones. Jess by my family. Jj by everyone else
It’s so interesting how nicknames crop up and they just resonate, right JJ?? That’s how Grae came up for me, people started calling me that, I liked it and rolled with it 😄 I’m so glad you’ve found such a cool name to go by, and still resonate with the names you also have 🥳
My legal name is Chris and I've never liked it. I had a dream a couple years ago that my name was Taya so I chose that as my preferred name. I'm out as Taya at all 3 of my jobs and have name tags with my preferred pronouns.
i bout thought u were gonna say somethin like how my youngest Brother wound up with a FOURTH names.. (he has 2 middle names) simply, because he was born on St Patrick's Day, my Mom decided to throw the name "Patrick," into the mix.. (Michael Joseph Patrick Muha)
HAH well, I *technically* do have two middle names, so I have four names in that respect too!! I never clicked on that interpretation of that!! Also awesome reason for your Mum to throw in Patrick into his name xD
I feel like that with being called Rebekah (my legal name) I actually am genderfluid but I mostly go by Rex either way. But I don’t think of Rebekah as my dead name, my parents still call me that, at work I am called that.
Y'know, most, if not all of your names could be treated as gender neutral. My birth name is Jason, but there is an actress who has it as her middle name :) .
Looking up how to be trans as a cis-boy. What a vibe.
Also. Love the there is no one correct way to be trans message of this video. 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️
