The very first episode when the writers were setting up the Rigsby and Van Pelt relationship I was looking right past them to Teresa and Patrick and thinking "Those two. They're gonna wreck me up emotionally." I was right and I loved every minute of it.
Too bad it too so many seasons for the writers & Bruno Heller to realize that. Then again, it's partly why the burn was sooo slow. On and off screen it was like they were perfect but couldn't come together.
@@smurfyday slowburns are the order of the day with television love stories. The writers thought season three might be the last and knew they couldn't bring them together with so little time left so they likely made it seem it was not a possibility in order to avoid making the fans feel cheated. I absolutely do not believe it came out of nowhere for the writers--their foreshadowing tips their hand, whether they knew or not they'd be able to use it, it is undeniably there on purpose, even before season four. The foreshadowing is dark enough to blot out the sun, they just needed the time to bring it to light, and the time they got is the average amount used by tons of shows like it to develop romance. As for the real life dynamic, I think Baker is actually as shy as he seems. Being around someone who can take the reins if need be is deeply relieving for people who struggle in that way. The exact same dynamic is present between Ian De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge from Agents of Shield: in interviews and conventions she keeps the energy rolling, flirts and teases to lighten the mood, and makes space for De Caestecker to find his footing. De Caestecker's comfort level varies wildly between his time with Elizabeth vs. other female cast members. Their on/off screen collaboration is like magic because of that understanding. Tunney is the same with Baker, but Robin and Elizabeth were and still are, smitten with their current SOs. I don't ship real life people, certainly not at the expense of their established partners and children--the actors I mentioned have some of the best chemistry I've ever seen but I don't believe for a second it made them romantic soulmates, or entitled them to an extramarital affair. Thinking like that made growing up with a male best friend an excercise in fielding people's spurious, lecherous rumors. Having people make impertinent, invasive assumptions made my friendships feel like some dirty thing that put my integrity and motivations on trial. For nothing. It's unkind.
This episode is better than most romcom movies. I absolutely adored it, and I thank the writers so much for giving us this gem. There is comedy gold, heart break, and then a beautiful revelation.
Superb acting by both actors in this scene. The look of utter pain in Jane´s eyes behind the door... The look of desperation in Lisbon´s eyes in the final seconds as she puts the phone slowly away from her ear...
Couldn’t disagree more. Thought it was one of the most forced get-together‘s in TV history. They never seemed romantically interested until the last couple of seasons. Totally wrong for each other. And Van Pelt settled for the typical handsome bozo cop. (I believe Stiles referred to him as an oaf. - nailed it). Of course this is all pretend. Lol.
I'm proud of Lisbon that she didn't open the door. You can see in the car scene that she's still reeling from how Jane screwed her over. She doesn't care much about Pike, but that's much better than all the PAIN and endless disappointment Jane had given her.
People defends Jane like he is a victim. He is not a victim, he had many chances to come clean, especially honest, he hasn't been honest with her. He knows well she is been in love with her for a long time, he can read her, in the episode that they go to a restaurant to catch a mob, he told her she is predictable. He knows quite well how did she feel & yet he keeps hurting her. She isn't using Pike, she doesn't love him as she loves Jane, but in Pike she found the stability she like any other mature woman are looking for. She is almost 40's, an age you want to have a home, a family, and the clock is ticking. She knows Pike is a good man, Pike also may have a feeling that she has feeling for Jane, but he cares for Teresa, & he is willing to give her support, even in the end, he accepted her decision. He wanted the best for Her. He wanted to make sure that Teresa received what she deserves. I married at 38 with a good man , who I learned to love very much. Have my own home. I was in love with another man, who never had the honesty to offer me stability, but in the end, life give you a chance to know a good partner, willing to give you a home, family and the stability you always want, and you take it, because you deserve it, not because you using that person, is because you deserve to have a family and love too.
You are right Carolyn. While he will always have Angela in his heart, he said he would move on after killing Red John (he took off his ring to date Fisher on the island). He knows that he loves Lisbon and that she has been in love with him for years. After two years apart, I think the writers should have made Jane confess his love for Lisbon much earlier when Pike became a "threat". Jane is not shy. Loved the airline scene though!!!!
@@claudettewalker8358 I think the fact that he's so obviously still grieving his wife is a big reason why she didn't tell him how she felt, she was waiting for him to get over it and be ready to open up to a serious relationship. She knew he wasn't there yet and was giving him time but at some point she had to move on and find the kind of relationship she wanted somewhere else, with someone who isn't afraid to love her back.
Lisbon was rightly angry with him because she thought she was the one person Jane could be completely honest with, and he wasn't doing that. She felt he manipulated himself back into her life, and he was doing the same trying to keep her in it. His meek "I don't want you to leave" was probably the most honest thing he'd said to her...a(t that point, anyway..:) You can tell by the look on his face, he really knows he might just have killed this thing with Lisbon forever...
""I'm sorry, it's just that ...." "Just what, Jane, what were you doing?" "I just don't want you to leave." Wrong answer--he was trying to manipulate her. The right one would be something along the lines of "I love you and I'd be devastated if you leave." "You basically dug her corpse up for this crap." It was and should be disgusting to anyone with a conscience. That's not how a romance starts, a healthy one. Can you imagine telling the story when people ask how you finally get together? The moment the proposal was accepted Lisbon couldn't bear to listen to Pike. This shows she realized she didn't love him but now she's trapped. She started looking back because the only one who can save her now is Jane. Time for him to step up and do what he promised to do. The one thing Jane did correctly was to go away when Lisbon asked. Unlike abusive relationships he wouldn't force himself on her or take a no for a yes. And the only way he could get her back is not by manipulation or lies, but by telling her how he felt about her, so that she can make an informed decision about Pike. Is Pike her last chance at a family and happiness? When Jane got on the plane, he didn't tell her what to do, unlike Pike who pushed her beyond her comfort zone because he knew the answer would be no if she had time to think.

When I watch this scene I think about how *broken* a person (Jane) must be to want to go to such lengths (write a fake letter from a killer, arrange a stay in a hotel a week ahead in a far location) just to have few more hours with the woman he loves instead of just telling her *those three simple words* right there and then ... Simon portrays Jane's inner battle so perfectly and, thanks to that, the viewer comes to fully grasp how hard it's been for him to come clean... "I needed to get to this", as he says once he gets on the plane, gets me on such a deep level.. it's true, he had to see her go off like that before he could be able to tell her how he feels.

I feel so sorry for Pike. As much as I love Jane and Lisbon(trust me I do) I feel for Pike. He could never have what they had but he loved her man. He was a good guy and All He wanted was love and got his heart broken into million of pieces. Idk how to feel if I was pike I would have slipped into depression lol. Nevertheless not everyone can be happy in the end I guess someone needs to be heartbroken 💔
I don't feel *that* bad for Pike. He admitted he was pressuring her to move to DC and then followed up with a proposal when she really reluctantly agreed. He had a plan for Lisbon and really moved up the timescale but that's not how true love forms. Jane waited for Lisbon to get comfortable at each step. So a lot of the heartache Pike got was of his own making, from his pushing her to do things she really didn't want.
She respected herself. Jane's behavior in this fake case was absolutely despicable. Anyone who didn't see that gets swayed too easily by looks or charms.
Y shuld she open d door, nough is nough, Jane bought dis on himself. How many times is she supposed to keep on forgiving him?? There's a limit for everthn.
This was the first webseries I ever watched with so much intriguing plots & clever ways of unfolding the mysteries Watched all of the episode like stupid wasting so many nights registering the ways of being jane
oh, that just hurts my lil shipper heart... :'( powerful stuff, that. seriously in tears over here. and ye gods, woman, do you need a neon sign for what he's been trying to tell you?! not even Jane, in all his eccentricities, would go that far just to keep a "sidekick" or whatever around. why does Rule of Drama always have to turn normally highly intelligent creatures into morons??
I know this is late but I think Lisbon knew deep down why Jane was doing it but because he's so untrustworthy and unpredictable she always doubts his intentions. She also is sick of him lying to her. His ego is so huge it's not surprising what he did. It makes sense them both being huge morons in this scene.
@@limerence8365 Exactly. Lisbon tried to get him to talk about his feelings and he always avoided it. Start from when she started going out with Pike. She prodded him directly asking if he had things to say, asking if he was sad about her leaving, and up to this point Jane not once said how he felt. She wished she knew what she wanted to hear, and it turned out to be nothing more than Jane telling her how he felt. After a dozen years waiting, he owed her that.
If only she had opened that damn door or if he kicked it off, the most steamy love scene would have taken place...Every thing (a vase here and there) would be flying over the place and rightly so. Dont get me wrong, the airport scene was awesome but these two and their 10 million fans after so many years deserved their first kiss to be behind closed undisturbed doors much like Castle.
Castle was fake, it turned out. Male star got female star kicked off the show. If she opened the door, she would've let Jane off the hook for atrocious behavior. Imagine telling your kid their parents hooked up after dad faked a letter from a dead woman. If Jane had kicked down the door, he would've been an abuser who wouldn't take no for a no. These are the old-school attitudes that make abuse possible. I'm glad The Mentalist was more mature than that. Lisbon never gave up her values and got a man who could say how he felt about her. That's what the airplane scene was about. Not him manipulating her anymore, just saying how he felt, even if, as he believed, it was too late.
In my mind, after Patrick was released from the airport, he and Teresa cameback to the hotel a used the other day resevation to do what they wanted to do hahaha I have not proof but not doubts about it❤😈
wait a minute, i watched this 100 times, and i watch a semi-fail-scene. Look Lisbon's hand in the last moment. Simon and Robin repeated the scene many times =)

I don't think she was lying to herself, she knows she loves him but she wants more and if he can't give her that, then she feels she has to move on with someone who wants the same as her.
@@kwasylar3215 it was just a fling, no compromises. She didn't want a relationship with him and they both knew it. Now if she were in an actual relationship with someone ofc both parts would mind. With Pike and with Jane she wanted an actual relationship, not just a fling.
Remember in Season 2 ( I think) Jane gave her emerald diamonds because they matched her eyes? I think that was HIS favorite color for her. But being insecure in the romance department, Lisbon had to choose the pink dress to hide her feelings.
As much as I ship Lisbon and Jane cause feels, Jane isn't good for Lisbon. Relationships can't be one-way streets. Lisbon is gonna lose herself trying to keep Jane warm. Irl if Lisbon was my friend I'd be team Pike. Jane is damaged, manipulative, not a good communicator, selfish, and a liar. He is loyal in terms of he has your back in life and death situations and critical matters but he flirts with others, does what's best for him regardless of the impact on Lisbon, manipulates Lisbon instead of talking through issues, is a big fat liar, and has a history of ghosting at least a couple of times. He is a man who lived in a car so he can get away at a moments notice. He has commitment issues. Not a good partner at all. On top of that, he runs off for a week on Lisbon after Lisbon chose him over Pike. Jane ghosted her for a week while Lisbon was most probably in the early stages of pregnancy.
imo, because she was the one waiting for him to be ready. The guy lost his wife and daughter and was obsessed with getting revange. He always knew how she felt but she wasn't sure about him and she just didn't want to push him.

Mi amorcito bello, casi se queda solito, 🥰🥰🥰🥰♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
it is strange to hear prince Oberyn without a spanish accent... :D
Wait, that's him?
nice work Lisbon to move Jane!!!THANKS!!!!!!
Not to mention they had only known each other only for a few months.
At 1:32 the way she says is like she knows him inside out.
What is the music that plays when Lisbon is leaving to the airport in the car. It plays for 5-6 secs, but beautiful.
Ravikanth Patruni this is kind of late haha, but it’s Lisbon secrets by Blake Neely, in case you haven’t found it yet:)
@@Lina-wr8ld This is never too late ! Thank you 😌
Jane looks so unhappy here. Why she didn't open the door? I want to hug him.
There's a limit for everthn.
jane clever unique gifted humour actor producer director in his own way priceless.
This was the first webseries I ever watched with so much intriguing plots & clever ways of unfolding the mysteries
Watched all of the episode like stupid wasting so many nights registering the ways of being jane
It wasn't a web series. It ran on CBS for its 6.5 seasons/years.
oh, that just hurts my lil shipper heart...
@@smurfydayI thing they came back to use the other day reservation 😂 he needed to pickup his suit case the rent car...😅
.MUY BIEN X FIN SE ANIMO Y LE DIJO LA REALIDAD

jane lisbon protect love each other priceless.
wait a minute, i watched this 100 times, and i watch a semi-fail-scene. Look Lisbon's hand in the last moment. Simon and Robin repeated the scene many times =)
what are you talking about?
Hahahh

awww she doesn't want to leave Jane!!! Watching this episode it hurt me how Lisbon was lying to herself, that she didn't love Jane and wanted to get married with Pike so bad. Good thing you chose Jane bc there are A LOT of people who want to have him as a bf or that weird shit
no offense people UwU
I don't think she was lying to herself, she knows she loves him but she wants more and if he can't give her that, then she feels she has to move on with someone who wants the same as her.
@@jenniferaguilera2087 Mashburn was a better option. And always available for her (and other girls too, but that's just a detail).
@@kwasylar3215 yeah, a detail Lisbon would totally accept, of course.
Jennifer Aguilera she didn't have issues with that before, or, or she was just using Mashburn. Who knows
@@kwasylar3215 it was just a fling, no compromises. She didn't want a relationship with him and they both knew it. Now if she were in an actual relationship with someone ofc both parts would mind. With Pike and with Jane she wanted an actual relationship, not just a fling.
jane lisbon cant live with out each other priceless.
When a woman says " Go away and leave me alone" that's what you should do.
When anyone lmao
Que capitulo era ese ?
This series is on Netflix?????
No :/
It is on Amazon Prime, all seasons.
Lisbon fav color must be green it was the first dress she picked up which I think she hope Jane would never figure out
Remember in Season 2 ( I think) Jane gave her emerald diamonds because they matched her eyes? I think that was HIS favorite color for her. But being insecure in the romance department, Lisbon had to choose the pink dress to hide her feelings.
@@claudettewalker8358 Ahh...
jane priceless.
Lot of snow on the ground
I'm not going anywhere
Lol
Mando hasn't met Grogu yet.
It look like to you was about to cry
Why theresa is Furious ?
Watch the show please, it's one of the best ever.
Ele ja sabia que ja tinha preparado tudo, muito manipulador esse cara.
Pedro Pascaaaaal
Why does the guy always have to say that shit? Why can't the gal?
imo, because she was the one waiting for him to be ready. The guy lost his wife and daughter and was obsessed with getting revange. He always knew how she felt but she wasn't sure about him and she just didn't want to push him.
A guy who can't do that can't protect the girl.
