Olimar's is way better. I'd say olimar has a better recovery than falco even though falco has two recovery moves. Olimar's up-b acts a little like yoshi's up-b in terms of giving him height, and he has purple pikmin and whistle that protect him tremendously while recovering. He still is easier than average to gimp in a game where 70% of the cast is easy to gimp but he's way better than ivysaur.
It really is very good. Bottom tier in Ultimate is you just have to play extra careful and you can still win. But bottom tier in Melee and Brawl is borderline unusable.

Sure, there were outliers like the ceiling glitch, wobbling, and Link's nair, but in the majority of matches, nothing out of the ordinary would happen. Brawl on the other hand had so much jank that would always be in play, such as tripping, jab cancelling, hitstun cancelling, momentum cancelling, infinite regrabs against Ness and Lucas, grab release combos, infinite jab locks, and more. Not to mention how Brawl's low tiers were much worse by comparison than any other game's low tiers.
Luigi Linguine Melee’s entire competitive scene is based around glitches. Things like tripping and jab canceling were not glitches nor were they unintended (Sakurai specifically states that tripping was entirely intended). As for Brawl’s low tiers, they were sorry to be sure, but let’s not pretend like characters like Roy, Kirby, and Bowser were that much better in Melee.

Back when I played Project M pretty regularly, I would do fast fall quick arrows to see if Link could use it as an equivalent to sh falco lasers. It of course wasn't as good, but I liked being able to do it since in PM Link's shield would stay on his arms when he fired a quick arrow. I gotta pick up P+ and see if I can still do that.
Even if you know fire knocks you back farther you can't do much about it, if you get hit you get hit it's not like a wobbling where you have to avoid that *one* setup as there are a bunch of fire attacks (all completely different) so I wouldn't even consider it a tactical advantage to know about that But I don't even play Brawl so what the fuck do I know
My favourite part was the collection of old clips featuring some retired and inactive top Brawl players. I felt both nostalgic and attacked in account of my age.
This game had no place in a competitive setting, but damn was it fun. All the tech and bs, honestly felt 10 times more rewarding to learn the game's intricacies than to learn how to space back air in 4 and Ultimate
Characters had so much little stuff it took awhile to master them and learn to fight them. Meanwhile Smash 4 boiled down to, do you have grab combos? Your mid tier or higher. Oh Could was released? Why play anyone else.
This video is incredibly informative and interesting but I'm disappointed that you didn't really delve into matchups at all. From what I understand Brawl was extremely top heavy and most characters placement on the tier list had to do primarily with how well they dealt with Meta Knight and a select few other top tiers like ICs and Olimar. Right? Idk.

First of all, I really enjoy you guys are covering Brawl. It was my first competitive Smash game, and it's the one I remember most fondly. Then there's the thing about Yoshi. You put a clip of Zudenka as the very first clip, who's the single most entertaining Yoshi. I think he was the only one that really brought out his potential, but he never got around to traveling much. What you're describing are players like Poltergust and Delta-cod, whom aren't necessarily the peak of Yoshi play. Delta-cod especially didn't mind timing people out, or like you saw agaisnt NAKAT, where he wouldn't mind waiting to 200 to kill a Fox. Most Yoshi players never really got around to perfecting the stuff he could do with DJEC (Double Jump Egg Lay Cancel) or Draconic Reverse (a pseudo wavedash mechanic, very technical). There's a chance a couple of characters went unexploited with the kind of technical mechanics Brawl had, like Bowser's theorethical infinite and even DDD's (against some characters).
So in otherwards, once again Mew2King's words hold value here in the sense that there's always things we SHOULD be doing that we actually aren't doing. Oof.
Not entirely. There are characters that have actually decent to almost good match ups against Meta Knight, but then their match ups against OTHER Top Tiers & High Tiers are GARBAGE, causing them to not be as good.

Pretty interesting tier list, only thing I disagree with is down b being a plus for any character because you can just not pick them from the start. Even the worst moves in the game are more useful than down b because they aren't pointless.
Ivysaur felt like an experiment to create the worst possible smash bros character. The ONLY good thing about him is his grab game, but that is only if you get a pivot grab. Other characters can just jump in the air and throw out hitboxes, and completely nullify this. Ivysaur is completely garbage in every other way.
Wow I really enjoyed playing Ivy back in the day. Granted it was super casual with my brother and friends, but he was my favorite of the pokemon trainer pokemon
Then Link he was still super slow his recovery was execrable by big combos and even his projectiles had been nerfed since Melee And Bowser's enormous problems with recovery hurtbox slowness and mobility prevent him from being ranked higher than he is currently in the Tier List for me. The only thing i agree on is MU at best. For me Bowser has MU on Zelda and he is less disputed than we think against Ganondorf

I can't wait till you guys start talking about Brawl's Meteor Cancelling, AKA NERFED Meteor Cancelling vs Melee Meteor Cancelling. One similarity is how if you miss time your Meteor Cancel, you're put in a 40 Frame Lockout Window tho. After that, major differences. In Melee, everyone can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 8. Anything that sent outside of 260 to 280 degrees was not Meteor Cancellable. In Brawl, most characters cannot Meteor Cancel till Frame 25. It's also slightly character dependent in Brawl. Anything that send anywhere from 230 to 310 degrees was not Meteor Cancellable. Meta Knight & Pit can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 32, while Charizard can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 30. This is obviously worse than the average character's Meteor Cancel window because they have Multiple Jumps AND can Glide. Yoshi can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 20. I think they did this due to his Up B not making him go that high up, relying on Double Jump Armour mostly. ZSS, Ivysour, and Olimar can all Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 15. This is likely due to fheir Up B's basically taking them no where and how simply Grabbing the Ledge Denies them access to it. With this in mind you'd think "Oh wow. They did a qay better job handling Meteor Cancelling in this game right?" I'd be inclined to agree... IF NOT FOR WOLF O'DONNEL!!! Wolf can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 60... I repeat. Wolf can Meteor Cancel as soon as *FRAME 60!!!* For what reason? Why? His recovery isn't even like super god amazing to make up for this. WHY? Pretty interesting tier list, only thing I disagree with is down b being a plus for any character because you can just not pick them from the start. Even the worst moves in the game are more useful than down b because they aren't pointless.
Ivysaur felt like an experiment to create the worst possible smash bros character. The ONLY good thing about him is his grab game, but that is only if you get a pivot grab. Other characters can just jump in the air and throw out hitboxes, and completely nullify this. Ivysaur is completely garbage in every other way.

Wow I really enjoyed playing Ivy back in the day. Granted it was super casual with my brother and friends, but he was my favorite of the pokemon trainer pokemon

Then Link he was still super slow his recovery was execrable by big combos and even his projectiles had been nerfed since Melee
And Bowser's enormous problems with recovery hurtbox slowness and mobility prevent him from being ranked higher than he is currently in the Tier List for me.
The only thing i agree on is MU at best. For me Bowser has MU on Zelda and he is less disputed than we think against Ganondorf
Glad to see that I'm not the only one who considers Ivysaur to be the worst character in the game in front of Ganondorf
But Mario and Luigi I find them underestimated since they still have good combos and are particularly much better than the Low Tier
I can't wait till you guys start talking about Brawl's Meteor Cancelling, AKA NERFED Meteor Cancelling vs Melee Meteor Cancelling.
One similarity is how if you miss time your Meteor Cancel, you're put in a 40 Frame Lockout Window tho. After that, major differences.
In Melee, everyone can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 8. Anything that sent outside of 260 to 280 degrees was not Meteor Cancellable.
In Brawl, most characters cannot Meteor Cancel till Frame 25. It's also slightly character dependent in Brawl. Anything that send anywhere from 230 to 310 degrees was not Meteor Cancellable.
Meta Knight & Pit can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 32, while Charizard can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 30. This is obviously worse than the average character's Meteor Cancel window because they have Multiple Jumps AND can Glide.
Yoshi can Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 20. I think they did this due to his Up B not making him go that high up, relying on Double Jump Armour mostly.
ZSS, Ivysour, and Olimar can all Meteor Cancel as soon as Frame 15. This is likely due to fheir Up B's basically taking them no where and how simply Grabbing the Ledge Denies them access to it.
With this in mind you'd think "Oh wow. They did a qay better job handling Meteor Cancelling in this game right?" I'd be inclined to agree... IF NOT FOR WOLF O'DONNEL!!!
