    I started these Gala Apple Trees grown from seeds (out of store bought Gala Apples) on 1/1/2016 so they turned 30 months old (or 2 and a half years old) today, July 1st!
    In this video, I'll be showing you my two 30 Month old Apple trees, my three 24 month old Apple Trees, my 4 year old Gala Apple Tree, as well as update you on the fruit sets we have.
    As you know, it's rare to get a tree grown from seed to flower before 4 years, let alone set fruit! But we did manage to achieve that - now the question is whether or not they will become edible fruits or crab apples...
    FYI - The tallest one is about 12 feet tall now with several branches!
    I plan on keeping you all updated on their progress until they perish or produce!
    Thanks for watching!

    Hey there Rob! Enjoying this series of your's. Got a question for ya, I have a ton of apples this year, and of course 3-4 dozen of them were first sampled by the birds. I'm thinking about adding them to my compost pile. Have you ever added damaged apples to your compost? (I usually only add plant clippings and kitchen scraps, not whole fruit) Interested in you comments.

      I add everything to my compost pile (organic material of course).

    Great videos. My one and only Fuji apple still going strong, about 3 month old now. When should I transplant it into a bigger pot?
    When and what type of fertilizer should I feed the plant?
    My zone: Tropical climate.

    Happy July First Buz it’s my birthday. I started my apple tree from seeds this year March. And I have only two left now. They are 6 months old now. I am so happy to found your series for your apple tree videos. I have no idea I have to cut off the top. One is about 4 ft and one is only maybe one feet tall. I don’t know what’s wrong with it. But I am happy they Are still alive. Hopefully will see new updates soon. Thank for all the videos.
    And I have a question that I live in New York City and the winter could be really cold. So should I move them inside during their first winter ? Will they survive if I leave they outside ?

      TingTing Fey happy gardening to you! Apple Trees need frost days to produce flowers in the spring so most are frost tolerant.

      Rob Backyard Gardenerr alright, thank you. It’s fun to see my trees growing. But I am still wondering will they still survive on a 5F degree day with snows. Or I should better move them inside the house ? Thank you. Guess your apple trees give you a lot of baby apples already.

    Hey rob do you get problems with cabbage worms? They're eating my cantaloupe buds and squash leaves. From central Florida so similar climate

    • @RobBackyardGardenerr
      @RobBackyardGardenerr  6 років тому

      BuuBeats I do but I mostly have issues with squash borers and vine borers. I can’t even grow squash unprotected.

    • @PandemOnium01
      @PandemOnium01 6 років тому +1

      Rob Backyard Gardenerr any recommendations for trying to get rid of the worms or borers? I have 3 butternut plants I'm growing outside and I'm expecting a cantaloupe on my largest of my vines and I don't want to lose them

      BuuBeats a little DE works well but I also recommend a light mixture of neem oil, soap and water.

    You crossed pollinated them with crabapple trees that's why your fruits are small...

      Steven Griego Yeah, it’s all I had. Plus, the tree is small and it’s the first time it’s flowered.
