Sir. I am a 2nd generation barber from the infamous 8 mile road in Detroit Michigan. And i am hear to say that an artistan shaving soap with a badger brush is the best way that a man can shave. The traditional way of shaving that our grandfather's used did not produce razors bumps or irritation.
Keihls is an excellent company. I have sensitive skin and have been using there bar soap for years. If I use anything else, my skin burns. Then a few years back, my scalp started to break out. I spent a small fortune on every shampoo on the market. You name it, I tried it. I went to a dermatologist and he gave me an RX shampoo that wasn't covered by insurance. So I used Kiehls bar soap and it cleared it up in 3 days. I swear by there products..5 stars all the way. Thank you for another great video.
This was good information. I know alot of guys who has damaged skin because of what they uses for shaving or not having the right products for the skin as well as care products. Good products. Thanks for sharing. All men even younger men need to jump on this!!! Good job bro❤
Another great shaving cream is Headblade Head Slick. Though it is designed primarily for shaving the head, it also is fantastic to use anywhere else (my wife uses it for her legs). No parabens, no sulfates, and comes in a large 8oz container (which promises at least 100 shaves).
Great video Jeff. I have once used Gillette Foamy,Rise, and Noxzema shave creams. I now use Barbasol that gives me a great shave. Another shave cream I would recommend is C.E.Bigelow , it has a cool tingling sensation and a great scent that gives you a great shave. I also recommend Geo Trumper Sandalwood shave cream.
My skin can't take a razor whatsoever! I used them when I first started shaving as a teenager, but 3 years later the ingrown hairs made their appearance and it was a horror show! I now exclusively use depilatories to shave with my favorite brand 'Magic, by Softsheen-Carson' that comes both as a cream or powder form that you mix with water. Using in tandem with 'Bump stopper-2', this thing works like a charm- no irritation, no bumps, no scars.
I like Vander Hagen Shave Butter. I think some shaving creams are better for shaving your head vs. shaving your face, and because I need one product that does both Vander Hagen Shave Butter fits the bill. The scent for me is nostalgic and is not one of the typical smells you find in shaving creams geared towards the shaving needs of men. Finally, breard dryness can be an issue during the colder weather months vs. the warmer weather months. While menthol, eucalyptus, and peppermint might be cooling and comfortable while shaving however arguably it may not be the best essential oils for a daily-use shaving cream when it is really cold outside and there is a marginal amount of moisture in the air vs. when it is warm outside and your beard and scalp might able to maintain moisture without using an after shave balm or something similar. These recommendations are good but based on the ingredient and the shaving objective, they might work differently depending on your shaving use-case need. I don't particularly like all of that menthol, peppermint and eucalytpus in my shaving cream and would simply prefer a shaving cream that has a butter-like glide, washes clean, and leaves my head and pores open to do what it does naturally with producing and retaining moisture on its own; again especially during the warm weather months. Last comment and this a subjective opinion: make sure you are exfoliating with face scrub after you shave to clean your face and scalp. Ingrown hairs are caused by various conditions including but not limited to the natural hair folicle growth type as well as not properly cleaning and exfoliating your skin after you've dragged a blade across your face and head. Unless the product specifies otherwise, shaving cream is not facewash or face scrub and is designed for "shaving". Thanks for your great review and helping men take better care of themselves with a task I think most men don't enjoy, lol.
In the late 1950s, when Esquire magazine was the world's leading men's lifestyle magazine and the founder of GQ they ran a major feature article, sponsored by Gillette showing men the correct way to shave. As Gillette invented the double edge blade, they were promoted by Esquire as the world leading experts. Gillette advised that you shave down the face, going in the same direction as the growth. Which was the exact opposite to the way men were shown shaving on TV and in the movies, which is the reason why Esquire published the article. I think that the advice was correct. Phil.
I suffered a lot from ingrown hairs when younger as my hairs can be wirey and curl but nowadays I am more of a Shaving Soap guy. The Art of Shaving is good, So is Proraso and Body Shop Macca Root, they are cheaper. I like Trumpers Shave cream but that’s pricey. For Soaps, I found that RazoRock, Tabac & Mitchell’s Wool fat are very good quality but not ideal for Vegans, Cella and Arko have a good reputation. A pre shave such as Trumpers Skin Food is good to apply after you splash your face with warm water. Don’t Forget, to borrow a quote from Jeff, Prep is King!
Dope video Jeff. I was just using my old steam valet to knock some wrinkles out of my shirt and thought that would be a great video for your channel. I maintain my wardrobe with a steam valet, and electric shoe shine kit. Old school, feel me. Keep up the good work. Salute!
I think all of those shaving creams you mentioned are all trumped by “Taylor of old bond street” shave creams!! Super easy to lather and best after shave face feel. Now you need to learn to use a straight razor which gives you WAY less shave irritation! But the only one in ur list id use is the art of shaving. That sandalwood is on point!
Greetings Style OG. Do you have any recommendations for clearing up dark spots on the skin from previous bad shaving? Any brand recommendations for African American men with coarse hair? Thank you and have a great day!
Love this video! I hardly see these brands of shaving creams on the shelves in Nigerian shops. I would love to adopt one of the shaving creams that are for sensitive skins. I will be in the lookout at shops, I hope I find one. Thanks, please do stay safe.
Great list! If you ever decide to get rid of the beard you should try a good DE razor with a brush and old school shaving soap. It doesn’t need to be expensive to be high quality.
Made the mistake to try a new razor brand called Defender. If anyone sees this don't bother! It's the poorest quality razor I've ever used so I went back to Gillette and after the first swipe I was in love again. I won't use anything else in a razor. Shave cream yes, I like to experiment. But razors, nobody can compete with Gillette when it comes to disposable blades. I use Harrys shave cream at the moment, but would like to try some of these. Thanks for the video!
This is cool info. Going to try some of these. trying to learn how to use a straight razor now to complement the shaving cream instead Of using the multiple blade razor 🪒. If you have any videos on using straight edge razors please point me in that Direction good brother!
Are there any cream that works good for shaving without any use of razor blades- meaning rubbing it on your head and rinse the hair off to maintain the baldness. I’m trying to stop using any kind of razor or clippers altogether but maintain my baldness since I have to shave every two days.
Awe, my two hairy guys are different and can appreciate and benefit fr ‘mom on deck’ info via The Style OG. Gréât information on some i yet to buy them. Both hairy w sensitive skin. One likes to be clean shaved and the other in the Beard Game. Lol . I bought and love the Art of Shaving. They have Many great scents and yes they are expensive. I always buy them for sensitive skin and place them inside their man cosmetic bag. Thanks for the reviews & keeping this Mom on point. Salute
Appreciate the video's subject matter I'm a old school wet shaving guy I enjoy it because it gives me that "me time" while I prepare the pre/post shave preparation I find I can relax decompress and gather my thoughts while I shave I of course use shaving soap as opposed to gels and aerosol spray shave cream so tell me do you shave with double edge safety razor or the multi blade type thanks for sharing the video
What's up OG Jeff thanks for the recommendations whenever I use a razor to shave, 95% time get razor bumps on my neck I even tried Pure shaving cream and the new Gillette Sensitive skin razor and still bumped up on my neck pretty bad. Do you have any other recommendations? so when I can't get to the barber I use my Andis T Outliners .Salute!!!!
I have been art of shaving system thats pre shave, soap while at home, shave brush, after shave lotion and safety razor for years now i do travel with jack black
Fulton and Roark, and King C. Gillette are some of the best brushless, cost efficient creams I've come across since I became an avid wet shaver. I reach for those over my Bevel and Gillette Pure. I hate Beau Brummell quit making their tub of cream, although the tube isn't too bad at all.
To me a real good shaving gel is Tomb 45,cuz it goes on clear so u can see where ur shaving especially if u have a beard, goatee, baldy and mustache. Plus it has aloe in it. I say checkout a review of it on UA-cam
@Andre Williams well what is a good shaving cream I’m tired of using Gillette foamy in the red can it has a bad smell to it know I’m tired of using Barbasol and they say shaving cream in tubes or hard soap and a brush is the best shave you can get no nicks or irritation something with aloe will do the trick for me
I hate shaving to be perfectly honest. Being fair haired, I’ll skip a day or two if I’m not going anywhere in particular and nobody seems to even notice. Good info here, Jeff. I may try some of these products. Thx.
For use with a brush I would recomend shave creams from The Bodyshop and Proraso. Exelent glide and protection. Used them for years straight razor shaving. Cheers!
'someone who has to shave on almost a daily basis' Doesn't everyone have to shave on a daily basis? Except if you're going for a stubble or beard or smtn of course
My first issue with Harry's is.... a well DESIGNED product doesn't justify overcharging for an average (AT BEST) product. Almost $8 (AT WALMART) for the Shave Cream with Eucalyptus is a complete scam. Secondly, adding Eucalyptus to hand lotion doesn't magically turn it into "Shave Cream" (i'm guessing the name Shave Glue was already taken). If you think this is too harsh, then you either haven't used the product or you work for Harry's. There is no 'glide' factor with the cream and not even a hint of lather (which lubricates the razor and makes the blades glide over your face more easily). i will credit Harry's Shave Cream for making me much more appreciative for my orange capped sensitive skin Schick Edge gel. Buh-bye Harry's... forever.
It’d be nice if you actually SAID which brands you’re affiliated with instead of just mentioning you work with SOME of the brands. Kinda Important to know considering you’re taking money from em. @Bobby Lane I'm holding on playboy. Lol

This is great product advice for those who shave their facial hair. And always remember to wet your face before you apply your shaving cream.

Jeff you should do a video for Big and Tall men. Like where to shop/best websites for big shoe sizes etc.
I agree!
We used to have Torres in (South) Philly. They were great. Now I actually like Men's Warehouse.
This was good information. I know alot of guys who has damaged skin because of what they uses for shaving or not having the right products for the skin as well as care products. Good products. Thanks for sharing. All men even younger men need to jump on this!!! Good job bro❤

My favorite is "Taylor of Old Bond Street" get a badger hair brush and mug and you are good to go with double-edge, straight or even a cartridge razor
Sandlewood is awesome but my current favourite is peppermint
@@M82RKY Yes I like peppermint as well. Sometimes it is hard to get though.
What up my bro Og. I use the. Neutrogena sensitive skin shave cream. Good looking out my G on the other options . Salute my friend
I started using Harry's shave cream and post shave for my blad head and so far I like it. Thanks for the other recommendations stay up.

Proraso is excellent. From Italy and great quality. Got myself a brush and my shaves have never been better.
I found the best with the cream is to shave everyday. I would let mine grow out on the weekend and come Monday morning the shave was a little rough.
I highly recommend you guys try Proraso shavig creme. Apply with a shavig brush and you'll experience the smoothest shave you've ever had!
Agreed!

Good choices of shave creams, O.G. Do you have any suggestions for razors also?
