I shred..... as soon as I finish writing each day 🙂 Love the mini incinerator !!!! Love your dog ...... ETA: The reason that I shred my Morning Pages immediately after writing them is that it is the ONLY WAY that I can be 100% sure that no one will ever read them. And knowing that they will never be read, gives me total freedom to write whatever comes to mind. And having that assurance of being totally free to write whatever comes to mind is the way that insights appear in my writing..... Otherwise, I censor myself as I write for fear that someone will read what I have written..... Works for me !!!
Yes, I'm wondering now about just getting rid of all mine. I'll pass your message on to Dusty and Dudley 😄 Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
I've been doing morning pages for I don't know how many years now. I began journaling around 16 when I started college. I recently made some major life changes which included moving. I had 3 big bins of journals. I burned them all. It felt quite freeing. My new routine will be reviewing my pages in December and then burning them on the winter solstice.
I had never heard of morning pages, and have no idea why this popped up in my recommendations. I am so grateful it did. This is something I have been missing in my life and didn't even know. I will start tomorrow (my birthday) do my pages for a year, then burn or shred on my next birthday. You earned a subscriber. Thank you
What a lovely comment, thank you 🙏. Be careful when you dispose of them, and do so safely! My practise has changed a lot recently. Look out for the next video... Thanks for watching, and let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!
I have been doing morning pages for years. I ponder burning them...thank you for this video...I like the idea of letting go of it all. I have read over some in the past with mixed emotions. I think just going for it might be the way to go... Thank you again.
This must be a part of the mystery of our growth. Tropical trees here shed their leaves and blossoms reach peak bloom in the dry season. We all go through different seasons in life. In the dry season, we shed our leaves and bloom into our best selves!
Gosh, thank you for such a profound comment. Where are you in the world? I'm going to ponder on that one! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
@@sketchleyThank you for asking! I live in a remote village in Thailand. Beautiful nature here is the source of knowledge; and everyone I meet is a great teacher. I love to see greens just outside the window in your videos. Inspirational nature around your house is a ticket to all your imaginary destinations, including Thailand, maybe.
one of the phrases i learnt from morning pages was ‘life is too short to suffer’. imagine you are travelling on a journey, you want to pack only the essentials to ensure you can fully embrace the opportunities! these morning pages are like excess baggage… eject the unnecessary so your hands are free to examine the present more thoroughly!
Picking 2 at random was a bold decision! It’s strange when something doesn’t seem to matter at the same time it seems to matter, kind of like writing the morning pages themselves. And love the circle of life of them going into the compost heap. Glad you tried it out, and explored an interesting related topic.
You do what's right for you, of course. I glance back but that's about it. The past is all we've got, but clinging on to it...? Not sure. In 30 years I'm unlikely to be around, so... 😄 Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment 🙏
I kept note books from the 80s up until the 90s. I’m so glad I didn’t burn them because it brought back memories on how not to live my life. My life changed mid 30s for the better and I must admit looking back it did make me depressed but also somewhat uplifted that little changes lead to big changes. I’m writing a memoir so I’m glad I kept them, it is information I forgot about and meant a lot to me when I read it again

in my twenties, i journaled for several years but at the end of each book, i would tear up the pages into tiny squares 😆. it was such a wonderful release … some pages were quite tough and so i thoroughly enjoyed the workout 😜
There used to be a thing of tearing telephone directories in half as a demonstration of strength (here in the UK, at least). No one has telephone directories any more!
May I suggest you remove the hard cover next time? The outer layer is likely a form of plastic, which means it’ll be toxic when burning and not very good for the compost bin. I felt a little nervous watching you burn your notebooks, even though the words weren’t mine 😅
@@sketchley if you find it, do let me know! The first reason I switched to Midori was their paper covers. Also why I switched to fountain pens, no more sending pens to landfill…
@@ellieisbusy yeah, plastic pens bother me too. I do like pencils (as you know!) but I'm forever sharpening the bloody things, the house is full of nubs no longer than your thumb, and they're just not as dark. It's an issue...

The presentation is great.
I don't know what I'll do, but I feel better about whatever that will be. Can't go too wrong. Safely, of course.
Thanks for the kind words 🙂 Let me know how you get on!

The title was shocking, because I made my very first morning book today. 😅😅😅
It did the trick, then! 👍
burning is such a letting go.. a metaphorical and alchemical process = possibility in my way of seeing it

I won't burn memories, I will cut some of them into pieces and create something new. That's what I usually do with notebooks.

Interesting point, thanks. I hadn't thought of that. I wonder if there's a video in the true sustainability of notebooks...

@@sketchley have you tried those pencil extenders? My husband is a fine artist and he used those a lot to make his pencils last longer 😀
i too noticed the number of plastic pens i threw away … and have switched to fountain pens. i never realised there were so many ink converters 😄
