    I made 15 different towel robes for xmas presents about 7 years ago and everyone still talks about them. I even got a bit creative and created tops and bottoms for my more sexy friends. I remembered this idea from a robe my cousin made when I was in college. Love it and so easy and allow for much creativity.

    I love using the walking foot for thicker projects. This is an ideal project for the walking foot because of the thickness

    Thank you so much! Just what I was looking for. I am having a spa party for my 12 year old and making each of the guests one of these with their names embroidered on it. As a beginning sewer I really needed this step by step with all the little tricks and what to do/not to do's! Wish me luck!!! I have 3 days to get 9 of them done! #shouldhavestartedearlier

    I've been recovering from the flu, or something deep in my chest, that is asthmatic like yuk,, and have had your various playlists on my tablet, making my way through them.. Really enjoying them. I've purchased two of these types of bath towel robes and always thought they would be fairly easy to make... This step by step is great.. I keep thinking of Christmas gifts! Personalize for a husband, wife and kids, in various sizes. And also those throw cardigan / stadium blankets... Those could be personalized, as well, for moms and grandma's who go to their children's games.. Really enjoying.. Thanks for the videos and love your dog's :-)

    Thanks, I had an idea of how to make one of these but decided to watch a video, just in case and glad I did, because I would have never thought of adding embellishments. I actually own a store bought one, got it for free since Kohls had it on clearance for $5 and I had a coupon, but the velcro was so flat that it will fall right off, so going to make myself a nicer one. I also was thinking of adding one to the gift baskets I made for Xmas including bath time scrubs and soaps.
    Thanks again, I love how you thoroughly explain each step.

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  10 років тому

      They do make great gifts :) If you have a problem with the velcro at all, just ad a couple "hook and eye " closures on it for extra security. Thanks for watching and Happy Holidays !! HUGS :)

    This tutorial is so well explained and succinct- It saved me from making some careless mistakes! I was trying to problem solve just how I wanted to do a "spa Wrap" as birthday gifts, & I was getting too complicated and making it much harder than it had to be...You made it all so simple and it was exactly what I wanted to do! Thank you! PS: I say in a positive way, that you should add "Spa Towel Wrap" to your title -- I almost didn't find you -- and what a shame that would have been!

    I searched YT for how to add a button and elastic loop so I can secure my towel instead of the old “wrap over and tuck in” method that more often than not unravels itself 🤭. I have a sewing machine but really don’t do much more than straight stitching for mending. I honestly don’t know the ins and outs of sewing and usually just wing it. Don’t know what a walking foot is and didn’t know there was such thing as a denim needle 😂. I found your video and found it very easy to follow so I may try it. I really wanted to try something quick and easy like literally just sewing on a button and an elastic loop on the other end. Wondering what you would suggest is the best way to do this. Thank you!

    thank you!! I'm excited to try this. I just bought a beach towel with a nice pattern and I will try to make a wrap out of it. It's super long so I will have to trim the length.. if I am feeling extra ambitious I may make a matching pocket with the left-over towel :)

    - I opened up a wire hanger - and straighten it out - made a eye/hook on one end - hook the large safety pin in the eye/hook to pull the elastic through the channel -- less of a struggle :)

    Amy thanks for responding. Martha Pullen's program is different. It has about 20 projects that you can make and has the patterns. The patterns are yours to use to instruct with if you pass the course. You receive a licensure certificate from her. The clothing patterns are mult. Sizes so you can adj from 4-3xx, home decor and totes etc.. These are the online courses. She also has a week course in Huntsville Alabama which is a lot more expensive than the online course. It is a lot of fun from what I have heard.

    I LOVE this! I actually searched so that I could make these and your video is so perfect! I want to make them as gifts as well...I am fortunate a friend has an embroidery machine for an extra awesome touch of personalization!! However I was wondering if you know how I can "guestamate" size? For example... if I know someones bust is 34B...how would I convert that to the elastic and towel? Or if I'm making it for a 10 year old petite child...I plant on making a few mommy/daughter matching sets :) Thank you so much for your very easy to follow videos!!

      Like you I searched for this also and only 2 people and both are good showings with different detail explanations and I learned from both. By the way your skills and smile out shine your hair so no worries. My issue is for the man with the 40 inch waist. I was thinking needed to go 55" because he has a gut and I want it to fit. I am also using felt material is this okay by your standards any suggestions both of you, lol, thanks! The woman has size 40 bra soooooo, oh thanks!

    I love this idea and plan to make them for my wedding party. My question is what length towel are you using. I have 52" and 60" (ish) at the stores.

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  10 років тому

      My towels measure 26 x 50 . Next time I make them, I will use the bigger ones because this size fits just right, but when I walk my leg with show a little where the overlap of materials is not generous enough. Glad you like this tutorial :) Thanks and congratulations with your wedding !!! How exciting :) Take care and I hope you have a FABULOUS weekend! HUGS :)

    When top stitching the ribbon on, do you top stitch through the elastic? if so, what does that do to the stretch?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  9 років тому

      +Darlene Lathrop Yes, I top stitched right through it because there is enough stretch with the rest of the band that it doesn't impact how it works. I've never broken a stitch on mine yet. If you are uncomfortable with a straight top stitch, you can switch over to a zig zag right when you get to the elastic, but I didn't do that. The stretch is happening in the opposite direction of how you are stitching. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and I hope you are having a WONDERFUL weekend! HUGS :)

    Love your ideas and enjoy your videos. Watched your clog you emailed me. You said you were taking a masters program in sewing. I would love to know what program you are taking. I am taking program specifics from Martha Pullen which I love and will be finishing up a course next month. Love the online programs.

      Thanks Jackie ! I purchased a program through e-careers.com. I'm a little disappointed in it so far....I want to learn more about "alterations" and not so much about sewing from a pattern. I will have to check out Martha Pullen next :) Thanks for watching and I hope you are enjoying your weekend ! HUGS :)

    Hi Fashiontoppings! Thank for your video! I am planning on making these for my bridesmaids but I need to purchase a sewing machine first. Can you provide the make and model of your machine? Thanks!

    when you wash the robe ...does the monograms come off?? they are only ironed on

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  8 років тому

      I've washed mine every week and its been almost 3 years since I did this video and the monogram is still attached and not coming up at all so far. If you are nervous about the iron on, you can put a couple tact stitches in a couple places surrounding the monogram. I haven't had any problem with mine. The only issue I have is remembering to connect the velcro with each other before putting it in the wash because the velcro sticks to everything in the washer, so make sure the put the velcro connections together before washing. Thanks for watching and I hope you are having a GREAT day! HUGS :)

    When you attach the ribbon you do not sew over the elastic, do you?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  9 років тому

      Barbara Venturelli I did because it was an after thought , but haven't had any problems with it even though I sewn over the elastic. If you don't want to sew over it, you can sew the ribbon on 1st before you fold the top over to make the channel. I make these up in advance and then decorate them later when I find the ribbon or notion that I like. Thanks for watching and I hope you had a GREAT 4th of July ! HUGS :)

    What would you suggest for a pregnant woman? Should I sew two towels together?

    • @AjsVintageDesigns
      @AjsVintageDesigns  10 років тому

      You could do that, but make sure you place the velcro in a few different spots because your bust line is much smaller than the waist line when you're pregnant. Thanks for watching . HUGS :)

    Didn't like the elastic end to end. I left both ends elastic free about 8 inches each side. Sewed velcro there instead front lays flat.

    At least this way you wouldn't have to worry about the towel coming undone...this one will stay in place. I love to wear these when I'm doing my makeup after I get out of the shower. Never fails...if I get dressed and then do my makeup I always get eye shadow dust on my clothes. I really hope you try this project :) I'm planning on making this as gifts for friends and family. Thanks for watching and I hope you're having a FANTASTIC weekend! HUGS :)

    when u say "drop your needle" what do u mean? I have to raise mine in order to turn material. "as far as i know". Thanks. Btw yor a really good teacher.
    PS: can u make something that's really cool for dudes? I'm a guy and just started sewing about a month ago. I thought it was girly but it's cool as crap. I'm thinking of a little side business b/c of it. Most all videos are for women and I'd like to make something seriously awesome and appealing for guys that is maybe simple yet effective and looks really awesome. ty: jase
    **Love the Dog!! I have a little girl beagle that does the EXACT same thing. EVERYWHERE i go she has to be near me. #Awesomeness

    • @AjsVintageDesigns

      +Jase C Thanks Jase !! When I say "drop the needle", its because several computerized sewing machines like mine have the option for the needle to always be in the down position (in the fabric...not off the fabric) when you stop sewing. By doing this, the fabric can't move around on you when you stop or pause during sewing. I hope that makes sense. Sewing is a fantastic hobby and business opportunity for anyone (male or female) so I'm really excited that you are learning and enjoying it. I won't be sewing again until Spring. We are building a house and all my equipment is in storage until the house is finished. As far as fashion for men, have you checked out KenAndrewDaily 's youtube channel. He does men's sewing tutorials and he's very creative too. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a FABULOUS day! HUGS :)

      fashiontoppings UGHH!!! Every single time i find someone that I actually can learn from (and lots are terrible teachers on here let me tell u)... They stop sewing for a while. :*( I have not checked his channel out but will now. I'd love to teach others some day as well. I simply love doing that. Gosh i wish someone around here sewed for i'd pay them to learn personally . Apparently I'm the ONLY person in my area. I think all the sewing folk work at Handcock. lol

    No, because he is really picky about his clothes and when it comes to dress shirts and stuff...he has them done by Men's Warehouse so the arms and neck fit correctly. My kids are the same way, very picky...so I'm the only lucky thrifter in the house :) I hope you have a GREAT weekend!! Big HUGS :)
