John Wilson Jr. broke into the O'Laughlin home in Indian Head Park, Illinois and stabbed 14-year-old Kelli O'Laughlin several times with an 8-inch carving knife after she discovered him in the process of committing the burglary.

RIP Kelli O'Laughlin. I remember when this happened. I believe i was in middle school when this happened. I had gone to the same middle school and high school as her. She is always going to be remembered.

I don't know how you can keep your cool telling stories like this. You had me crying at the end. She was so young and still made an impact on so many lives. She was out to do great things. Praying for her family who will suffer this horrible loss for the rest of their lives. They don't deserve this either.

He gets three meals a day, TV, recreation, free medical, etc. all paid for by us taxpayers. This is the system that is supposedly so unjust for black males.

When someone asks me, do you really believe in spirits if you can't see them? I say, I believe in God and I've never seen Him! Just keep an open mind, because the alternative is lonely!

As a mother, my greatest worry is that something might happen to my children because of someone else's stupidity or carelessness. Words cannot express the heartbreak her family must be going through because of someone so cruel. If you are able to find out how the family plans to honor this young lady, I would like to contribute to the memorial.

I admire your talent in presenting your videos. You’re very respectful and it’s clear that is very important to you in doing them. I’m so glad I stumbled upon your channel. I was very saddened to hear you speak of the child you lost. As a parent, I cannot fathom that type of pain & pray that it is something I never experience. God bless you for bringing remembrance to these people in such a respectful yet informative way. It is so sad that there is no lack of material out there for this type of one. I so wish people could just learn to love each other in this world.
I remember that this terrified me when I heard. Kelli and I are exactly one year apart in age (I am older) and at this age I would usually be home alone. After hearing this, to this day I do not want to be home alone. RIP Kelli ❤️

My mother's brother's niece, was murdered by a serial killer, that was friends with our whole family. And they never knew it! She was also 14 when she was killed.
I just found your channel and I love the respect you give those who are not with us anymore. Thank you for sharing these stories. And people shouldn’t judge her parents for not having a tombstone yet you don’t know their grief so don’t judge. I’ve lost a child so I understand their pain. RIP a sweet girl.
The family can be so grieved that just getting out of bed becomes a monumental task. Then there are the logistics of going to work and paying the bills....the exhaustive task of going to grief counseling. The poor child may get her marker when she is joined by her parents. Grief can be so exhausting and will catch you unaware.....like waking up in the morning CRYING.
@@lindawinegar1311 I’ve had to bury my first born and I grieved so hard for 12 years before I could move on with a somewhat normal life. I understand grief it’s debilitating.

As I said in a previous comment , your research is rich in depth , and the way you exchange thoughts , information and the overall story to us is wonderful . I can hear seriousness , sadness , and even {at times} disgust in your tone of voice . Some people take us on somewhat of a statistical field trip , but , not you . You tell us the real story , full of facts , evidence , emotion , and when available , outcomes . You honestly love what you do , of that I have no doubt ,, it comes right through the screen . I find myself , not just watching your videos , I set aside & make time to watch .. I am a bit new to your channel , and still trying to catch up , plus having a great time doing it . I don't view alot of YT , yet , when I find a site that displays passion , and content with obvious amounts of work put into it , well , I am hooked .. Lovely video. Thank you for taking the time to share Kelli's story. While I never met Kelli, I have become a family friend over the years. Her murder was so traumatic for the community, for people who knew her, and those who did not. It is the definition of tragedy. She would be 24 this April and it certainly doesn't feel like ten years have passed. Her parents, siblings, family and friends have done amazing things in her honor and have helped so many other kids. If you're in the area during September or October (or if it is virtual this year, the date varies and with COVID it may be virtual again), please attend the Run for Kelli! It is their annual fundraiser for scholarships and other charitable acts! #ChooseJoy

I lived there when this happened. I had a premonition about it before it's happened and told my sister to make sure our doors are locked. We were more vigilant after that then this happened. My sis was so shocked. Things were just too lax out there.
I have a fourteen year old daughter, Kelli lived a life quickly seeing so much. Rest in peace young lady.

I tend to gravitate toward the channels that honor the unknown or those that have entered into the forgotten. The saying that we die twice always haunts me in a way but it’s so true; we die when our life ends on earth and again when our name is lastly spoken.

I remember this like yesterday she was in my cousins class this it's almost ten years later and they still put messages for her on the fence over the highway where she lived things like this don't happen like that in the neighborhood where she lived so it was kind of shocking

I binged watched a lot of your videos this past weekend, and now I subscribe to your channel...great reporting..I'm from Colorado and heard in your videos you lost a daughter here...I am so sorry. I lost my Marine Damon in 1999, it took me 5 weeks to recover his body out of Wolford Reservoir in Kremmling...What you do is HONOR those that would be lost to history...we got the Navy Marine medal for him 7 years after his death..There is alot of history here in Colorado and one is Rose Mary Echo "Silver Dollar" Tabor who is buried there in Chicago at Holy Sepulchral Cemetary...she is the youngest of Horace & Baby Doe Tabor who died of mysterious circumstances. I did a report on them in high school and went to the graves of Augusta Tabor (ex-wife of Horace) in Riverside cemetery (very old) ...her death was very tragic and so was Baby Doe's who froze to death at the Matchless Mine in Leadville...the old store still has Silver Dollars portrait in there..thank you!
