For some reason, this feels like the most important match in the entire tournament.
These two are like two sides of the same coin. One is the rage you keep inside until you break, and the other is the rage you let out because you broke.

i highly recommend good faith for madeon, plus the 3 other recent good faith era solos (the prince, love you back, gonna be good). beautiful album and beautiful songs. the CELINE/12122017 EP that mad/eon is based on is also p good, and short (15 minutes).
for darkie, i know a lot of his fans from backroom and publiccord have recommended SWAMP as an intro album for him. there's good stuff in there. happy listening!

This is so bitter because, despite not knowing either of these two before Mashup Week started, they both quickly became favorites and it will suck to lose either. That said, this track might just be the best I've heard so far, and that's quite a feat considering the quality that's in this tournament right now, and it couldn't happen without both MAD/EON and Lil' Darkie losing their first round and one of them going 0/2. So thank you, Mashup Week, for these absolute bangers, but fuck you, Mashup Week, for forcing me to choose.

and the fucked up part is i *can't* confidently say whether this'll be my favorite match by the end of this corner.

plus the local58 theming just sold it... an absolute pleasure to watch live.
also that second part hits WAY harder if you read the lore for the match btw for those who want to enjoy this match to it's fullest.

After seeing the song, and the groovy visuals, it's truth. This is peak, MAD/EON and Lil Darkie putting their full all into this, good job Megamix Team.
It's stuff like this that makes me pretty sad NN and MAD/EON faced off in round 1, because I'm a NN main but I don't want to see MAD/EON go so quickly because of their victory.
The Local 58 theming here was FLAWLESS.
The lore posts were stellar, also. The entire team hit it OUT OF THE PARK with this one.

As a Netherrack Nightmares fan they sadly have a very vocal hatebase. I do agree that they only beaten MAD/EON because more people are familiar with their Video Game Music sources. I do enjoy listening to Madeon's music tho. It's just unfortunate that a actual musician rep fought the video game rep round one.
@@TruelyAstern Yeah, I see it. They kinda hit my interests on the head, but somebody who's less familiar would probably not care as much, very hit or miss. I feel a lot of the characters are like that, though, so its relatively balanced.
Really speaks to the nature of the tourney and ones like it, that people with distinctly niche interests can come together over something they generally think is pretty cool.

it uses these two in such a perfectly ominous but fun way, it really feels like both of these characters have brought out as much as they can for their potential finale in bracket
my vote goes wholly to MAD/EON, who just so happens to be my favourite character in the entire project, but honestly? it sucks to put darkie out THIS early, and if he wins... well, he earned it at least.

EDIT: After the premiere, I truly agree with what I said. Both MAD/EON and Lil Darkie brought ABSOLUtely amazing sources to the table, with MAD/EON finally pulling from the wealth of different analogue horror ARG series out there (and also Linkin Park's Meteora20 ARG??? HOLY SHIT), and Lil Darkie bridging the gaps with sources that I'd never listen to on my own, but blend amazingly with others' sources. No matter who wins this match, I will be rooting for them for the rest of Losers' Bracket.

I keep coming back to this round despite it being such a while ago. i started getting into mashup week megamix around like the intermission period between this round and winners round 2. for some reason all three tracks in this round just have this vibe and polish that I can't really get anywhere else (despite most of these tracks in the tournament being great and all). these three tracks and round single-handedly made me put darkie and mad/eon in my top 5 (mad/eon top 2, darkie top 4). I'm glad the winner won, however I can't help but feel a little sad the other didn't get to move on past 0-2 territory. both of these guys genuinely had the most potential in the tournament, and this round shows that better than anything else. i really hope the winner gets far into losers, maybe even the finals. because it'd really suck to let both of these potentials die down as early as losers 2. (not sure if anyone will ever see this but hi if you do)

They literally didn't have to go this hard for the second LR1 match, but they did and I'm more than happy about it! Once again hoping Madeon pulls through, but honestly seeing Lil Darkie go out early is also a shame, since I've been loving the tracks with him a lot too. Neither of these two deserve to go out in the first round tbh.

HOLY MOTHER OF PEARL THIS IS INSANE!!! I thought that Darkie and Mad/eon were putting their all last tracks, but THIS is what putting their all equals! This is a whole new level of peak! The editing, the art and animation and of corse, THE TRACK! These two are pulling like crazy now, the amount of great sources is sweet and the mixing is phenomenal. The lore on this match is wild too, love how this track is tied to the lore. This seriously might be the best MashupWeek track TO DATE, everything about this is so amazing. I knew this match was going to yield some crazy shit, but this was beyond my imagination. ALSO I AM IN LOVE WITH THE ARG PULLS FROM MAD/EON. GO BRING IT HOME MAD/EON!!!!!!
