You can use a can of compressed air duster, turn it upside down and spay the liquid out on the hot glue as you'er extruding it from the glue gun. It cools the hot glue down near instantly solidifying it. I use that technique to make ooze monsters for DND. If you use this though be careful spraying the liquid out of the compressed air duster, if it gets on your skin it can cause frostburns, also this shouldn't be done unless you're in a well ventilated area.
For fire elementals, I recommend dry brushing with a metallic, color shifting red paint. This really helps it catch the ambient light for a dynamic look even without a tealight.
@@NicheCrafts Fam I was already invested in the video, but I just happen to dance so when you hit tha smooothest body wave out of NO Where! I got anime Protag Lit 🤌🏾 thank you for the Experience.👏🏾🔥
I have a similar fire elemental that I 3d printed with clear filament. I used different color Sharpie markers to provide color and still allow it to remain transparent. It worked quite well. I did the same with the water and air elementals but used less.
These look great and I love the idea of using the light in the base of the fire elemental. Framing and building out makes total sense. This gives me some ideas thanks for the inspiration.
Never thought to use hot glue as a frame, I tend to use whatever wire I have on hand. Nice video and I'm happy to see someone else using hot glue in unconventional ways.
Okay this is cool as hell is the totally new technique for me that's very simple and the way you're able to incorporate the tealight was really clever. I would have planned the designer on having a hollow space to fit the tealight to begin with so the tealight could be removable
Been making some custom stuff for the past few weeks looking up various channels. This is the most unique take on the hot glue elementals i've seen. Really like the look of the water elemental. Really enjoyed the video man. Keep up the awesome work. You've actually inspired me to make my first youtube video making a couple of custom minis. Thanks for the great content! Please keep it coming!
Wow! That means so much to me. I’ve also just started making videos. I’m so glad I’ve inspired you to do the same! It’s very fun! I’ve got lots more ideas and more videos to come!
Another trick is to start your model in a bowl. Then as you build upwards you slowly fill in water to keep up with the level of the hotglue. 3D printing without a printer 🙂
I HAVE to try this! Maybe using a foil or wire armature if going for an opaque figurine? Lots of smoothing and sculpting tools while the glue is still hot? I think I am soon going to have my own army of custom mini figs 💜😅
I am definitely going to have to try this method for a fire elemental. I have used similar methods for air and water elementals already. I also made an earth elemental using sand over a toothpick armature. That one is a bit heavy. I'll probably try your hot glue method for earth as well.
Such a great idea. Would have been awesome to see you create every one in the set. The water elemental is such a chonky cutie patootie. I think he is my fav. Oh, and amazing intro!
This is a cool idea! I don’t make d&d miniatures but I’m gonna experiment with this technique… I’m building a custom action figure that needs new hair… might try it for that!
Water not bad, Earth looks good [but face it easy to make], Fire looks like a crystal project that went wrong, and Air? like someone did a massive spunk.
im kinda interested in making all of them light up, red for fire, blue for water, white for air, and green for earth. I would also be inclined to make them pretty big, with multiple LED's inside, in order to maybe use a double-A or triple-A battery compartment, and on-off switch, in the base. This is generally for convenience, as AA and aaa batteries are Literally Everywhere.
@@NicheCrafts unfortunately, that is probably gonna be a very long while, on my end, because i am absolutely nowhere near a place in life, where i can make mini's and terrains. Still, if you or someone else want to take the idea and run with it, then more power to ya. :)
@Niche Crafts I'm literally doing it right now for my game on Sunday! Your video was the first helpful one I saw and it inspired me to make goo monsters for my next session!
With the wind elemental I would have done the same thing with the fire elemental But use a green LED And replaced the Orange one And done the same thing with a blue one for the water, And for the earth Put the led up in the head section
great tutorial, TY!! If you want the glue sticks clear bring water almost to a boil and dip the stick in until totally clear. You think some Vellaho acrylic ink would work well for the dye (im totally new to all this)?
Where do you get the led tea lights from, tried the dollar tree ones but once removed from casing these can't work as the switch has nothing keeping it stable. The one you are showing had something holding switch in place other than the casing.
@@NicheCrafts I just now made one but I used a tea light that can be remote controlled to be different colors so one figure is a fire, ice, lava, water, plant monster!.
