I purchased a house in an HOA area but it was not listed on their property listings. They came and said it would be helpful for me if I joined. I told them I can take care of my safe and house and yard. They said they would not allow my house to not be on their area. I said this house was built prior to your HOA so it was not listed on my purchase papers and you cannot force me into your HOA and I will have a judge to tell you that you cannot trespass on my property again. He left a card with their mailing address and they received the order in 3 days and he came over and demanded that I got rid of this. I said hold on. I called the police and they came over to arrest him for trespassing again and the judge stated that since he had violated the order the HOA would be disbanded for the force of attempting to make me join and then illegal trespass.
@davidward3991, I would have also made the move to literally buy up every home that was under the HOA if they were all owned by the HOA members that were on their side and either made them a part of a small resort or bulldozed them and turned that whole area back into farmland after removing the sewage and other lines from the area, provided that those things were doable, anyway.
Good job! I hate these "Stepford wife", cookie cutter communities that demand conformance and compliance.

When I bought it. My house its in a hoa I have to be honest. I don't mind because I only have to take care of the Interior they have to do the exterior the lawns. The snow removal I'll pay my h o a fees. But if we want to change windows we just need permission, and it's great.

Story 1: check city ordinances. Some cities you can only have one or two garage sales a year and must purchase a permit. The neighbor is running a business, not a garage sale.
I will have any vehicle parked on my property without my permission towed after asking once politely that it be moved, especially a NFH that has a garage for it. Great stories, Ripe.

About the flower girl story my mom would be angry over someone saying that to a kid because my mom loves kids
I'm glad she could document the sister's melt down to counter the BS to their parents. If Tia was supposed to be the flower girl please explain this. I wish we had the results after the sister came back.

Most cities and towns have ordinances detailing the number and frequency of yard sales allowed.
1st time a warning. . .2nd time . . .and any other time, the vehicle gets towed.

The aunt knew Tea was a little girl, a child, but wanted her as the flower girl because she was so cute not to be the flower girl. So why did the Aunt flip out when Tea was there with her mom and two brothers? After the way the Aunt exploded over Tea being there, she can't blame anyone but herself for the missing flower girl.
And because of the aunt continuing to be upset about the missing flower girl and how she continues to treat Tea, the blame for being blocked by Tea fails once again on the aunt. Some people are simply slow learners.
How in the world does a trampoline in someone's fenced-in backyard bring down the value of the surrounding homes?
The value of a home is what people are willing to pay for the home and where it's located. If the home has been taken care of both inside and outside contributes to the value. Original amenities, or those added, also up the value of a home.
None of this has anything to do with what someone has in their fenced-in backyard. Those buying the home aren't going to be living in their neighbor's backyard.

i am next to a school with large driveway now i leave for work before the school run and dont care that cars stop in my driveway most of time only for 5 mins, my wife told me that 2 discoverys always seem to park there. one day my MIL was over and one of the disco drivers was upset that some one had parked in HER spot and was demanding MIL to move, that peeved me off.
two weeks later i was going home early (reasons later) wife called and said both in driveway i rushed home, parked up with less then 3 inches from back bumper, went to garage got trolly jack lifted the car and removed the wheels,
Karens knocked told me to move, i invited her to go and have sexual relations, 20 mins police knock i told them to remove the Karen, they asked me to refit and back out to allow both to get out, i smiled and said MY mot runs out tommorow so i had it today and it failed, as i am able to drive home i did but as the fail was both brakes i cant and wont go onto a public road.
police smiled went to tell karens cue scream, asked what to do? did not think much of my idea of renting a crane with magnet to lift car out.
two weeks later and karens arrived with hubbys asking what it will take, told one a reciept for £250 CASH from local childrens hospice, and the one who gave my MIL grief £500 more screams from her i said in 10 seconds or next no it goes to £750
next day both hubbys arrive with reciepts, i invited them in for a cuppa called a scrap yard and had a tow truck come and sell for scrap.
used the value of van to fix the gate.
Maybe it's unenforceable on a city. But in my rural area we must get a placard from the town. And we can only hold one twice per month.

As for the yard sale, again check I bet you will find the neighbor is violating the yard sale ordinance.
Up he in most communites you may have 2 a year and they must have a permit to have a yard sale.
This guy is running a BIZ which is a violation and want to get a real kick have the tax collector stop by and see how fast this guy closes down.
