Informative video about the step people miss for launch mode, but just because your Tesla's screen is vertical doesn't mean you should hold your phone that way when taking video.

Some guy was talking about that mode and i thought he had no clue what he was talking about. I had to google it. Its hysterical that they put that mode in these cars factory.

I just figured it out. I didn't pre heat the battery which you showed. I figured I was missing one simple step. Thanks for the vid though. Saved me a lot of frustration. LOL. Now I just have to figure out why the auto pilot when engaged wants to drop to 70 kilometres an hour even when I engage it at 100 K's an hour. I must have done something to interfere with it. Quite the the car and with so many settings. Might take a while.

Do you have to put the accelerator all the way down the first time cause I must be doing something wrong. The only message I get it both pedals are depressed. I just bought the Tesla S a few days ago and in learning curve. I'm sure I do all the steps right but won't work.

I wonder what happens when you don’t release the brake when the motor torques.

Nothing happens, it disengages. Besides, EVs have no torque converter so it’s not really brake torquing in the traditional sense, the car doesn’t actually direct power to the wheels when brakes are applied (even modern ice cars are frequently programmed like that). Electric motors naturally produce maximum torque from 0 rpm, so there’s no need and no benefit of brake torquing anyways. Whats happening when launch mode is engaged is the battery gets conditioned to release as much power as possible, the power controls prep to apply as much power as is needed to accelerate the car as quickly as possible, and once underway variables such as traction, wheel slip, weight distribution, lateral acceleration, etc, are taken into account and torque is managed accordingly to maximize acceleration.

Imagine doing this while being parked between cars on the side of the road 😀 That would be an enormous mess.

What a joke. That time what you use to get this mode should be add on acceleration time.

@@LeglessWonder If you want to get everything out of tesla, you need to first set up the ludacris mode(that take time) and wait that the battery is right temperature(that also take time).

Janne T well most people keep Ludicrous mode on 24/7 to be fair. As for the launch mode, I don’t even think it’s necessary- I’m not sure how much it assists because the 0-60 while Ludicrous is on is... well ludicrous lol
