Took delivery of my S-Cross Ultra this month. Absolutely delighted with everything about it. It's my first Suzuki, but definitely won't be my last. Can't recommend it highly enough!
@@rivervalegroup The fully equipt version, maybe called ultra in UK has a 7th speaker in the middle behind the 9 inch screen. That is a Pioneer product and sound quality is good enough.
We've just this week (Sept 2024) taken delivery of the Boosterjet 1.4 mild hybrid S-Cross. Its early days but it all seems pretty decent. Not sure of the comfort for long journeys, that I'm about to find out in 3 days time when i drive from my home in Devon to Surrey and back. I like the fact that the lane departure stays off once it is turned off. A lot of cars require it to be switched off every time the car is started. Im not sure about the feel of the steering. It seems to feel like it is out of my full control at times, theres a slight play within it. It's hard to explain. The driving position is good. The climate controls are simple and straightforward to operate. We had the Seat Leon FR mild hybrid for three years and that was a nightmare. You had to fiddle with the infotainment screen to sort out climate in the car. Very distracting and poor.
Ordered mine in early June, top spec with manual gearbox and without the sunroof. It was suprising to see that this car costs almost 30k pounds in the UK, I got mine in blue with the mentioned specs for about 19k pounds worth of money.
For 20000 € (starting model) thers no better SUV. Theres no sense comparing it to more expensive cars. Also, Im 180cm and was shocked how much room I had in the rear. Its a great family car.
A very good car at a reasonable price considering the equipment. A bit cheap feeling inside but will prove to be reliable. Suzuki have a much better reputation for reliability over the Nissan and Peugeot. The boosterjet engines are very punchy, are great on the motorway and economical Also like the design. As always very good review.
As regards the cheap feel, you mean some hard plastics ? Ive had a few Suzukis and actually didn't really care what the interior trim was made of. They were tough reliable cars. Some people today are too obsessed with interior feel.
Are mild hybrids considered to be reliable? They don't have stuff like regular battery and the little electric motor supports the engine to reduce the stress on it, so i'm told. They sound more charming to me than regular hybrids.
@@sureshkumarn8733 I'm wondering the same, especially with that constant recharging.. Surely it would cost substantially less than true hybrids due to small battery.
@@rivervalegroup oh well, ofc the facelift, 2022 looks very luxurious than older models. There is a lot of space inside, and its very comfy to drive it w the automatic gear and all the safety packs. And the best part, its much cheaper than other car brands, i bought a new car for 24k and škoda kamiq w this configuration was for 30k+ 😁
A great little car, intuitive controls, fascinating technology and good fuel economy 50 mpg plus on a steady run. The only criticism would be the proximity of M1 (manual gate on the auto box) it is too easy to get into manual mode, but easily put into auto mode. Overall excellent for the money!
Very nicely explained..... But one question... When do you think the lithium ion battery of smart hybrid system need to be replaced??? What would be the expected cost??? Love from Kerala, India...
I beg to differ as far as the exterior design concerns - the previous generation looks a lot better. Furthermore, I really wouldn't call the S-Cross a SUV; as the name suggests it's a crossover model. The interior between those two generations are almost identical. Yes, I own a second generation S-Cross with a very nice front part.
No rear Ac vent & Chargers on a 2022 model is not good. I have the older version SX4 it's great car to drive but the lack of good air conditioning for rear passengers is a big drawback in hot weather.
@@rivervalegroup Sure. It would fit my bill if I was in the market. Probably not the sensible option at the £30k mark but reliable. Some poor design finishes inside such as the folder rear seats hump and carpet fold, lack of rear sockets and seat back pockets... but otherwise it would suit me fine except possibly the light steering. I commented as the presenter called a predecessor the S Cross 4 S Cross, twice. Long time visitor to Eastbourne and Suzuki's are popular there, or at least they had a dealership I used to pass :)
I'd always thought a mechanical handbrake was a construction and use requirement, an e brake is not much use if you have electrical failure, mech handbrake a plus point for me
If its the same size as 'small' SUVs like the Peugeot 2008 (leaving aside the daftness of calling it an SUV at all), why are you describing it as a mid-size?
@@TheSpoovy Good point. Ive had three Subarus when the pricing was acceptable, but now they seem rather pricey in all honesty. I would like the Outback Field version simply because it would do everything and go anywhere. Its a great utility car and the bonus is the 2.5 non hybrid engine, so no batteries to worry about in ten years. If I got one I would keep it for a very long time. Daft trading in cars when the one you have still does what you need it to do. People waste so much money.
The new in car system looks terrible, looks like it was bolted on after the fact. The older more integrated one look a ton better. Why do car designers do this, it looks half ass..
@@rivervalegroup Have the 2021 scross, and while we like it we find getting larger things in the back, the access is pretty narrow, so was looking to see if they have made it wider. Just seems everyone now is choosing to just put this big "pimple" on the dashboard, its not clean. Also just noticed I replied with my gamer account.. haha..
Ford are terrible for that, the touchscreens are like an iPad stuck on the dash. I find them very distracting. I really dont see the obsession with them. Too many drivers are constantly touching the screens while they are driving, I bet load of accidents are caused by this. Give me a simple dashboard anyday. A small screen is all you need but so long as it has Bluetooth and DAB I dont need anything else. People need to look where they are going and not be messing about with in car tech all the time.
I couldn't agree more. I was looking for Vitara AllGrip, but I'm in doubt should I take S-Cross instead. In Croatia, there are GL, GL+, GLX and GLX+ trim levels. Difference between GLX and GLX+ is only panoramic roof, so GL+ is considered middle trim. Vitara in middle trim doesn't have keyless start, power folding mirrors, blinkers integrated in mirrors, front tweeters and parking sensors (front and back), all of which S-Cross GL+ does have. In Vitara, you need GLX trim for that. S-Cross GL+ is under 100€ more expensive than Vitara GLX, so, basically for almost same price you can choose between Vitara with Satnav and leather or S-Cross with dual-zone AC, LED position lights, additional reading light, roof sunglasses holder, reclining back seat, additional USB in arm rest, back seat arm rest and e-call. Tough one since I prefer Vitara more for design and compactness. But, ugliest thing in S-Cross is way tablet is mounted. To be fair, I saw ugliest solutions in Mazda CX-3 and Mercedes GLA - S-Cross at least have back side somewhat connected to console, while in GLA it looks like it's hammered down. On the other side, if you think this one is ugly, imagine what it looks in lower, GL and GL+ spec, with 7" screen and black bezels around it...
