For me the analogue dials with the colour display in the middle is a yes! I like it far more than fully digital dials. For some looks cheap, for me is more like a good analogue watch over a cheap digital smartwatch.
I've just ordered one. I was originally going to order an Ultra, but the clincher for me was that I can have a Motion by March, but the Ultra would be June / July at least. (Apparently the first batch delivered to the UK have sold out already!). For me, the upgrades are "nice to have", but none of them are dealbreakers, so I'm happy to save the difference and get quicker delivery (and slightly faster 0 - 60, and higher mpg) by settling for the Motion.
I ordered the motion but have now changed to the ultra as both are July now.Ultra arrived this week and I found even though suzuki say that android auto is wireless in reality it is NOT. Only apple car play works wireless. Car rejected. Suzuki are disgusting advertising it as wireless in all there brochures and advertising and then when it arrives the handbook says only apple car play is wireless. This would have been my 8th new suzuki but there certainly won't be anymore.
I would go with the Motion which looks like a great package for the money and has everything you need IMO. It certainly doesn't look like an entry level SUV. It's a smart looking no nonsense small SUV.
Great comparison Tish, don't see many of them. The motion is very well kitted out, i can see where the extra 5k goes for the top spec, for me I would opt for the ultra for those extra few additions and the 4wd.
It’s a pretty decent car actually, I’m very pleasantly surprised. The new Vitara comes soon which will be strong hybrid - I’m interested to see how many changes that will have!
Great review, thanks for info on the auto. The SCross range prior was very good too, with engines regularly clocking up over 100k miles. They're good motors, well equipped even as a base model (they just don't shout about the kit that they have). I like analogue dials tbh. If a good cross-climate tyre is fitted then most of the time 4WD isn't needed in 2/3rds of the UK, so a 2WD version is good to use (our previous generation model 2WD has been fine, but we will upgrade to cross climate tyres as we have with our other car).
Great review! I m getting the GL edition this week, Sphere Blue, here in Greece, which is the basic, and it's going to cost me 21700 euros. There's also the GL+ and the GLX. I think Motion should be something like GL+ in the UK but I am not sure. Well I think that GL is super ok for that price, If I had more money to spend for a car, I would probably go for another car to be honest!

If I was purchasing this on finance I’d go for the ultra, it doesn’t look like a premium car on the inside but it looks far less cheap than other Suzukis with exception to the Toyota based ones. I hope in the mid-life refresh it’ll get some more modern tweaks like a digital drivers display.
I think the difference is worth the 5k. I'd really want the Allgrip, so I'd have to go for the Ultra and there's enough difference to justify that. You get a lot for 5k, and I like the simple range. But I think the s cross is too expensive. The Ford puma starts at 23k and you can buy a pretty nice Yaris Cross for less than 30k. This is a facelift of a 2013 car that was nothing special on launch almost a decade ago. On that basis I have to say asking 30k for it is a bit cheeky. I'd say motion should be 20k, and ultra 25.
Indeed. I drove the fully hybrid. It is to slow and I will always prefere the turbo engine. There is no significant better gas mileage too@@AutoSocialUK

Hi I dont want to be rude in any way but who ever buys this car like I've just purchased the ultra but stoneacre only had the motion for me to look at at the time but their are thing missing like all the buttons are not back lite their is no footwell lights like described in the spec but still a good buy for what you do get
Interesting that you pick up on the back lit buttons because I only drove in daylight so would have not noticed that. Sorry to hear the car was listed to have footwell lights and they’re not there - you can probably have some put in by Suzuki if it was miss sold?

A great review Tish. Again very thorough explaining the differences in a way that is easy to understand. There's lot's of standard kit on both of them. 5K appears a lot in isolation between the two models though but if you consider the options list from other brands that base price increases significantly. the 4 wheel drive would be my preference and easily adds a few thousand on its own, leather can also add a thousand as can an automatic transmission with clever off road systems. A panoramic sun roof can also add a thousand. So I guess it boils down to if you want every one of those differences. 4x4-check, Automatic-check (although I don't like the manual all the way back), Panoramic sunroof- I'm not sure and the better infotainment with 360 camera view- check. So for me anyway I think it's worth it. For now though I'm not yet ready to change my car so we shall see when it is time to change.
I would only pay extra for four wheel drive over the front wheel drive version, cos I believe the only way crossovers make sense is if they have four wheel drive. Also, I can’t believe some cars like the Nissan Kaškaj or the Džuk don’t have alloy wheels as standard, cos it’s the 2020s not the 1990s. Great review as always Niece Tish.
Currently have a Vitara. I like the car, but still don't understand why they don't put in a digital speedometer. I've seen a couple of comments about analog being better to see increase/decrease of speed....that makes no sense though. 9? different pages of digital info on the dash (only one is actually of use)....but no digital speedo.

I can't see a downside to having the choice of a digital speedo. In modern cars they are changing to a digital display, and the ability to turn some things on/off as you need them. Sounds good to me. NOT to have the option these days isn't reasonable.
After purchasing the ultra model my local dealer is now telling me the ultra model does not have android auto wireless not very happy with them at all tish

All you need to do is to release the button once you're in R then continue pushing it down to D and it won't go beyond that.

Nothing wrong with analogue dials, just look at the current selection of wrist watches.

Suzuki Ertiga is in South Africa the Ertiga LX6 & LX7 is in Mexico & India .

That probably is £5k of extra spec including the gearbox. If could get upgraded head unit on base spec and 4 winter tyres, probably all you'd need.

4x4 is no replacement for winter tyres but the rest seems worth it. Even the space trade off for the sunroof
I plan to buy Michelin Crossclimate 2, performance on snow is same as winter tyres

dont know but I have both in Skoda Superb and find the digital speedometer super annoying so always end up looking at analog

That should be regarded as extra valuable - a car with an analog speedometer. It makes no sense whatsoever with a digital version.
