Root Barrier Installation

Root barriers, also called root shields, are a highly-effective preventive maintenance measure done to protect your home's foundation from tree roots that are drawing moisture away from the foundation. Kenny Dutton with Du-West Services demonstrates how the barrier is installed. Remember the foundation is best maintained when the moisture levels are kept consistent to prevent movement. The root barrier allows the moisture to be held on the homeside of the barrier. The root barrier installation will not shorten the life of the tree, but will have a big impact on the health of your home's foundation.

When is it too late to install? My Oak trees were originally planted in 2002.

If running this along a foundation would it be best to install a 4" drainage system on the foundation side to move water away & out?
