After I applied 3 coats of obsidian I probably put 5 to 6 coats of seaweed. I wanted it to run and fade into the copper so I kept it on my banding wheel and just kept layering it up at the top ring and just below.
3-4 coats of Ancient Copper that did not go to the top. In the video you can see where it stopped. 3 coats of Obsidian at the top and I did cover the Obsidian heavily with seaweed which is a thin glaze drying in between coats. The seaweed did overlap about a half inch to an inch over the Ancient Copper. Around 5 coats of seaweed at the top over the Obsidian.
Thank you, Ancient Copper has been discontinued and they have not released a replacement at this time. I hope they come up with something comparable. I have a jar and a half left I’m using very sparingly on special projects only. 😊
So was there any overlap of the obsidian and copper, or did they butt up against each other? Wonderful results! I'm waiting on my order of AC to arrive, and can't wait to try it out.
They were pretty much butting up against each other and the seaweed made it run down over the copper. FYI - word is out currently that Ancient Copper is being reformulated and there could be delays in shipping for awhile. It may be different when it arrives also than in the past. I hope that’s not the case for you. 🤞🏻
Spectacular. Did you use 3 coats of each glaze? Did you find that the ancient copper runs a lot? It looks like you left very little unglazed at the bottom
I find Ancient Copper to be very stable on its own. 3 coats of AC and Obsidian then multiple coats of Seaweed globbed around the top to get the run effect.
Wow nice combination!!
Holy cow that is gorgeous, nice job. I have just bought my first batch of Amaco glazes and I can't wait to try out some combinations over porcelain.
Good luck! Porcelain is my fav for getting bright vibrant colors. Thanks for watching!
Gorgeous! Thank you for your videos. They're very helpful

how many coats of seaweed did you use?

Beautiful vase!! Would you please let us know the temperature it was fired? Cones? any holds? Thanks so very much!!
I just updated the description. It was cone 6 no hold in a manual kiln.
@@healingearthceramics9472 THANK YOU so very much!!! I must try this combo.. It simply is GORGEOUS!!!
Beautiful! May I ask how many layers of each color you used? and did you use ancient copper all over the outside before adding the obsidian?

Hi that is awesume. I hear that ancient copper woll be discontinued. Do you know if there is a substitute?

Stunning result. Thank you.
How far down did you go with the obsidian.
Just on the collar and about 1/2 an inch down.
@@healingearthceramics9472 thank you.
Were these dipped or painted on?
Brushed on.
So sad but Ancient Copper has been discontinued. Would Ancient Jasper work in it's place?
Yes it is gone. Ancient Jasper is not the same but is nice in different layerings. It great on top of Indigo Float and many other combos.

@@healingearthceramics9472 thanks I hope so, too! It’s en route so maybe I have one of the later “original” versions. Thanks for the quick reply :)
