Goes missing for hours at a time during games… when he gets near the ball he’s electric. Certainly worth the rookie list spot and see if he can develop at the top level.
I have not seen anything of this kid until now. Just from the highlights shown here it looks like he is a smart footballer. I like the spoil in a marking contest directed to where he has advantage. The really fast first two steps is also nice, he seems to be at top speed straight away.
Malakai sounds like an exciting talent! Players with strong footy IQ, speed, and skills often make a big impact, even if they start a bit lighter. With time to develop physically and adapt to the demands of AFL, he could become a key player for his team. Do you know if he’s been playing consistently or is just breaking into a team? And what position do you see him thriving in?
@@user-ln8we1ud9c every phantom draft has him at different points. I've seen some where he gets a bid in the late 40s early 50s and others where he gets no bid at all. Thats the nature of this draft, there's so many players with potential, draft rankings are all over the place. And u know who also didn't get bid on allowing the eagles to take him with their last pick? Jake waterman. Just cos a player doesn't get a bid, doesn't mean they're no good
He looks like a great talent, really dont know why hes slid so much, id have him in the 40s at the latest. Perhaps its just the academy thing as you say plus its a strong even draft. I disagree with you that hes not a position of need, we have a heap of small/medium forwards but all of them are really more suited to the "half forward" role playing further up the ground. None really have that x-factor or classic forward pocket craft that Champion brings, we havent really had it since Willie Rioli left. Fingers crossed Champion can mould his gamestyle on Kozzy Pickett, they have almost identical attributes and size, Champion just needs to put on a few kgs. I think he could be playing 10+ games in 2025
The fact Champion may not even be picked by another club in the whole draft tells you he is a speculative selection at best. Just basic logic. Or do your imaginary insiders tell you something different haha.
Malakai is an exciting prospect - the kid could be anything. Low risk, high reward type scenario
He will be a gun for us in a few years got Serious talent
Another detail I don’t see anyone bringing up is his uncle is Eddie Betts.
So he’s got the forward genes.

Malaki and Liam in the Forward line or in the middle with Harley. Things are looking good 💙💛🦅🏆
Malakai champion is a very good player if this wasn't a draft as good as this One he probably would be a top 40 pick
Yeah his so good he might not even get bid bid on.

This guy looks like a gun and I'd take him over the Barras footed Bo Allen any day of the week
He plays like Cyril Rioli
His uncle is Eddie Betts
I was thinking the same thing!
Looks a bit like a Cyril Rioli?
His uncle is Eddie Betts
