@IDontTalkToCops Yeah, It took a little for me to get past the whole Eagles thing. But without naming names, nobody from my club in the YT space is doing anything great.
Eagles, Port, Tiges, Saints in my view smashed it - some with limited hands, one with every second pick basically, and a few sliders in there. Very happy with what we did last night.
Every club is "thrilled that player x was still available at such & such pick, theyre all so athletic, beautiful skills on both sides of the body, versatile, we see player x as a future leader of the club blah blah blah.. the standard cliches. Even Richmond was delighted that Sam Lalor was still available at pick 1 😅
Hartley (Richmond footy department head) was interviewed and said a lot of drafting is looking beyond production (what they can do now) and instead looking at potential. I could see Sims being a future ruck in time. Might still grow a few cms but was top 10 in agility and vertical leap at the combine and is physcially combative. Has an athletics background too so might be a bit like Blicavs and be able to motor up and down the ground and run his opponent into the ground
Do you think maybe Dodson slid more than expected because clubs might be concerned about him backflipping on his Footy decision and return to basketball at some stage? Very highly regarded basketballer.
One of Jonty Faull's highlight reel marks had "Royce" written all over it: Courageous, floating across the front of a pack for a 2-handed clunk. If he does that even once down the Punt Rd end, mate the army's gonna love him. A great 8. #goTiges
Richmond obviously done very well, but out of the clubs with a more standard draft hand, West Coast and Port were the winners for mine. Also Lindsay and Langford look an excellent pairing at the Dees
The Tom Sims pick it is seen that Sims is a Ruck/Forward. A lot of mock drafts had us getting a Ruckman and Richmond view is Sims is the Player for that roll out of this Draft. We just about got everything Tall Forwards , Tall Back , Big Body Mids , and 2 small Forwards/Midfielders. Best Draft Ever from a Tiger point of View. I watch the livestream on Big Footy Tigercast Channel on UA-cam and everyone was Shocked with that North Trade ? No one could believe that was happening? I think Big Footy Tigercast have just put on there channel a short video of the reaction of it today. But in the end if North wanted a Tall they had to find a way to get one and from what I heard they wanted the pick before to get Armstrong but Richmond where not letting that Go ? Good on North for having Balls to back themselves in for next Season. A+ Draft for Richmond 🏆17 🏆19 🏆20 🐅🐅🐅
North fans looking a bit silly when they said 2 and their future first for 6 and 18 was not an option. 27 (Matt Whitlock) for a top 5-10 pick and another 20s pick in a projected weak draft is madness
Apart from Richmond, the Saints probably won the draft, value for picks (Boxshall, Dodson, Barret) and could possibly have taken the best player of the draft class in Alix Tauru. Positionally, the Saints only drafted ONE out and out Midfielder but, I think In this case, we did great with drafting best available and then trading back in to get list needs. Well done, St Kilda 👏 👍
Yeah Saints did very well in the end. I would have considered Hotton over Travaglia for that midfield spot, but he might not have been happy that they delisted his brother and Travaglia has scope to move into the midfield eventually.
Looking into Travaglia a bit more, he looks like a hard runner, who always follows up after his disposal. He will likely become a midfielder. Just from the short video I saw, he looks similar to Isaac Smith, fast with great endurance.
They couldn’t possibly have failed with the picks they had. The true test will be to see how Faull and Sims compare to Shanahan and Whitlock who they could have had.
That’s wat I said but we are short on small forwards have a look at this I have done a chart of Richmond FC List of 2025 176-184cm =12 185- 193cm =13 194-201cm=16 202-213cm=3 We are too too heavy

West coast were in desperate need of adding some quality youth and with each of their first picks got players that definitely shouldn’t of been available, if anything it looked more likely shanahan and gross could’ve been taken with their first 2 selections. Davis was another really solid pick that seemed a steal. Allan should start in defence as a intercept defender and develop before moving into the midfield in a few years, gross starting half forward/midfield. Most importantly each of west coasts picks are pretty versatile and can play multiple positions, even shanahan can play as a key back. Really amazing port managed to steal both Whitlock and moraes, both expected to minimum be in the top 30 but even better selections considering berry and Whitlock have played the last few years together which hopefully limits the go home risk. Richmond got the high upside potential with their first 3 picks, getting Alger for a future 4th was incredible as he was considered with their first 8 picks. Sims was a shock but seems to be the key forward with the biggest point of difference as he played the second half of the year in the ruck, which is better than the tigers usual strategy of developing a ruck as a key forward. Faul was surprising but considering his late form and injuries to start the year they must be expecting a lot of development to come and again a different key forward from Armstrong and sims. Smillie has been rated as number 1 by a lot of recruiters both throughout the year and still currently, hotton and Trainor both were expected top 10 and maybe top 5 while Armstrong at 23 was a steal. 3 mids who can all play forward, 3 different key forwards with 1 playing in the ruck, 1 intercepting key back and a mid forward who can play in the air and on the ground. Positions of needs all across the ground with a lot of upside. Not to mention getting the 8 players they were targeting while affectively trading a future 2nd and future 4th for a potential top 5 pick next year.
The video I, as a tiges fan, have been refreshing for. Excluding us, I personally think WCE won the draft. To get the quality they got, and to have those kids slide to where they did is a bit insane.

Totally agree Sid Draper looks like a gun. I have massive concerns over Finn O'Sullivan. I reckon North had a list of talls they wanted this year, and if Matt Whitlock was one, then it was a matter of getting a key position player this year, with their First rounder from next year. It is all about fast tracking. Hope Whitlock does well. Urqhart looks good, but is another mid for the logjam. I would be more excited if North had just taken Tauru. The best mark in the draft for mine. People are too focussed on the draft number, rather than the player, and what they can add to the team.
I think Port absolutely smashed the draft. First draft since the butters rozee draft that we have done well. Berry is a robbie grey clone. Whitlock will be a future monster.
Nice summary. I think StKilda, WC and Port are big winners. They did very well getting players i considered elite - some who seemed to drop in pick selection based on their power ratings. I'm a Tigers supporter. I'm still unsure about some of the selections. I would have loved 1 of the small forwards in Joe Berry or Oliver Hannaford or 1 of the tall defenders in Tauru or Travaglia. I'm unsure about Josh Smillie - big bustling midfielder yes, reasonable kick, can pinch hit in the forward - but concerned about his marking and competitive level. Only time will tell. Jonty Faull was a big surprise tonight, first of the key fowards and many rated him at #4 from that list. It was already known going in that Jonty was high on Richmonds list. Jonty might be the best all rounder of the key forwards. Good mark, competitive, good kick - smaller than the others but more mobile. Picked to fill the CHF role. Harry Armstrong - big slider but potentially the best key forward. At least his power rankings show that (but put into context, was also in the best team). Great kick and mark. Hopefully time (maturity) and the group around him can guide him to become the best of himself. Picked to play the deep FF. Thomas Sims - interesting pick. Jury is out - however i think he's seen as a mobile ruckman with a high leap, good mark and good kick. Very athletic and strong - can play forward but also in the same mold of Luke Jackson. Taj Hotton and Luke Trainor - injuries are a concern. Project players that need time - but great talent and skill on offer from both. Both were tracking for top 5-10 before hit with injuries. Only time will tell if the picks were worth it. But could be 200+ game careers. Here's hoping for the best. Jasper Alger - happy with the pick. He was on Tigers list and we were lucky to still get him at pick 58. Small forward ... position we need. Wish we picked Berry instead but Alger could still step into the role of a good competitive small forward. Sam Lalor - potential champion of the game. Needs to work on his conditioning and fitness/flexibility. Needs a solid preseason to trim a little but given his injuries, understandable. The sky the limits ... only time will tell where he ends up. The future is bright ... another good year on clever targeted draft picks and a trade or 2 and Tigers could be in the 8 again in 2027. Challenging for a flag as early as 2028-2029.
I find it hilarious that somehow these narratives are all true: a) Levi Ashcroft is the ‘clear’ #1 pick in the draft b) Brisbane paid a few picks in the 30s and 40s for the best player in the draft c) Richmond won the draft 😂
B ignores that Brisbane got those lower picks by trading out their first round pick and next year's 2nd. It's not fair value, but it's not as bad as people make it seem either.
Sims will be our Ruck Forward who will be the true longterm replacement for Tom Lynch. He finished top 10 in agility and vertical jump so that athleticism will allow him the flexibility to get around the ground (a trend for rucks). I look at Joe Daniher this year and see Sims as fitting that mould longterm, and really its a clear hole in our squad (Samson is just not athletic but also can't keep a mark). I believe Richmond kept the pick as they see Sims as a missing piece for a future premiership squad, who need this kind of player to compete in September, where teams get found out without bigs that are competitive and flexible (i.e. Sims and Faull). I see the vision, and like M. Whitlock to Roos, love that we have him in the door already and developing as part of our next premiership squad.
On the rest of our pickups - Lalor and Smillie bulls who will get contested footy, Hotton = Bolton replacement with more outside accumulation, Trainor intercept defender to replace Broad, Armstrong strong ability to get separation and clunks serious pack marks (leave him deep, let Faull get up the ground, compete and get ball to ground), Alger fits another hole of an athletic medium forward with huge upside, another guy who dominated the combine. He is also a december kid so has a year of development on many others in the draft. Have retread some points already made but hopefully this gives some Tigers fans an idea of the vision for our pickups, I see it, I love it, GO TIGES!!
I’m happy with the Demons haul. Trac type in Langford. Speedy, great kicking wing / half Back in Lindsay. Both left footers. Both great footy iq and ball use. Don’t mind a mature age aggressive Key Forward who plays instantly. Most Key Forward kids won’t be ready next year, so I don’t mind it for a pick in the seventies. Didn’t win the draft but value for picks.
I think getting the third tall forward is smart for tigers, when Lynch was injured last year there was nothing. Trainor will join Gibcus, Balta and Broad.
Hi mate as a Richmond supporter I’m wrapped on who we got but we are so short on small forwards have a look at wat I did I have done a chart of Richmond FC List of 2025 176-184cm =12 185- 193cm =13 194-201cm=16 202-213cm=3 We are too too heavy
Only reason i think that Sydney didn't match is they had Riak very high on their board and i think they want guys that can lockdown defenders rather than interceptors given that Blakey is there and Cochran would play a similar role to him but without the Kicking ability. Good for the game that this has happened and finally a potential go him reversal for the first time in a while. I believe Jarrod Witts is the only other metro Sydney player on a non-Sydney list.
TIGES fan. Sims was a head scratcher over a traditional ruck however with our last few key ruckman they were traded in or rookies. Sims has better ruck craft than Whitlock so probably a better call for a Samson Ryan backup opposed to pure Fwd.
What i dont get with North Melbourne, is, if it is true that they offered their future first to EVERY club, starting from Pick 8, how in the hell does GWS (Picks 15,16,21) NOT take that Future First?? Even pick 15 and a later pick wouldve got the deal done by the sounds of it 🤦 i honestly think, this is a scenario where NM wouldve benefitted from Live-Player Trading on draft night, the NBA has done it for years, classic example, Kobe Bryant was drafted AND Traded to the Lakers on that Draft night. Maybe this will be the next step in the drafting system, next year clubs can trade picks 2 YEARS in advance from 2025 onwards.
Goes to show how highly clubs rated specific players in this draft. North Melbourne for example rated Matt Whitlock as a top 15 player on their draft board. They paid the premium in a potential top 6 pick on 2025 for pick 27 and a F2nd which is certainly overs at face value. From pick 8 all the way to 27. Clubs were very lock tight for this year's draft picks.
Especially if gws had given up Angove at 24 for a future first , geez , maybe they know something we don’t, if they were that keen could get him later. I’d say indicates a degree of stubbornness and unwillingness to change on the fly.
It wouldn't bother me as a Saints fan if we didn't Rookie list Adrien Cole and Elwood Peckett, it's absolutely great that we have players tied to the club BUT, I just don't see the need anymore, maybe Cole (Gen Def) as depth but I think we're good for Defenders now. We let Hoffman walk to Geelong.
obviously not the eagles, but they were coming from a long way back. they only have 3 draft picks in the first 4 rounds. they've ended up bringing 5 guys in and most players were ranked higher than their draft place. So they made something out of nothing.
nothing unexpected from the crows, only had 2 spots, disappointed that during the trade period we didn't keep pick 28 or 33, we could have easily had Dodson
A young ruckman would have been ideal and would be Adelaide's most urgent gap now Peatling and Draper can help inside and Cummins adds more outside speed and skill. But for what we gained this off-season, I can live with it for another year.
WC bluffed Port, because if they traded with Freo, that would have put them picking under Port and a good chance Port would have taken Bo Allan , doubtful WC take that risk
Given the shallowness of Port's small forward talent atm, I strongly doubt they would have taken Allan ahead of Sheedy. Sheedy is exactly what Port's forward line needs, while they do have some depth in the midfield and back flanks.
Thankfully a straightforward mission accomplished draft for Adelaide. Picked up the best fit for squad prospect in Draper and then a father-son and gap filling key forward talent in Welsh.
Eagles given their starting capital. Port gifted a pick to WC but nailed their picks. Murphy Reid at 17 is overall the biggest steal for me. On talent, he may even be a top 5 player. Battle of the Reids gonna be epic, very different types of players, but both talented as hell.
Yep,Port were only using 3 picks so they didn't really care, but WC were never actually trading with freo which would have meant WC pick drops below Port and a chance Port take Bo Allan
Richmond should have drafted Murphy Reid at pick 12 and just got Jonty Faul ar their next pick. 3 key forwards is one too many. Plus Murphy Reid will be the next Harry Sheezel.
Richmond traded 3 top 5 players for their draft haul - huge cost and impact not to be underestimated. Brisbane father son and academy- last breath of a broken system that will change next year. Sts needed a midfielder and drafted defenders.
@@Ben-ij6zv doesn’t matter how they got the picks… purely on the draft they had the best draft. Same with Brisbane they had the FS and academy players doesn’t change that they did the best through no particular effort but on the draft haul they win. Saints got elite talent onto their list and Travaglia will end up in the midfield.
Fantastic wrap up, I feel West Coast definitely won the Draft, with where they started from. Not only improves the AFL club but also strengthens the WAFL side. Richmond should have done well they had a bunch of picks to chose from. Lokking forward to next season💙💛🦅🏆
Yeah but Richmond still won the draft, got a player at 57 that many thought would go at 23/24 to the Tiges, but the Tiges used that pick for a pick 4 or 5 pick next year... Tiges have nailed the last few weeks for that matter.
@@AndrewDenny-Tassielad Richmond was always gonna win the draft with the picks they had, it was really never in doubt. West coast had much less to work with and made out like bandits with steals at nearly every pick
Congrats on meeting your goal mate!!! I'll push back on your wording their for North mate. You say log jam of midfielders, I call it depth. Obviously North as a club was into Tauru heavily and perhaps they did try trading down with pick 2. Absolute is though, they did their due diligence and opted to select FOS which was the right call for pick 2. Best available. The club clearly sees the midfield as a ever evolving part to what they're building and by drafting FOS North now replace TT who was an unfortunate situation that resulted in a decision being made for the better. FOS is a big ☑️ North paid a premium for landing Whitlock and frankly there's more pros to outweigh the cons so people can dribble about it all they like, North got who they wanted and that's what counts. Way too soon to call it a success or failure so in terms of what North got with where their rebuild is at it's a good get. ☑️ Urquhart speaks to Norths evolving depth. Wouldn't of been my choice as their were some other good key position players available. However Luke is a prime example that North does want to drip feed the midfield moving forward. And Urquhart seems like a real inside-out bull. Freakishly strong with a good burst of pace to go with his defensive mindset ☑️ Fun fact: Gavin did in fact play for North and even FOS's dad for 9 ganes haha. Pagan gave him walking papers waaaay back in the day but what a good story and link for both pkayers to the club. Been looking Forward to River Stevens for the past 2yrs. He's a hard two way running small forward, though not like his old man in stature still bleeds the overwhelming pressure. He's got a good goal sense and knows where to find the goaks so there's alot of promise for River in making a push for that 2nd pairing with Paul Curtis in our F50 line-up. 5 F/S players at North now in L-mac, Scott, Harvey, Archer and now River Stevens. Its a full house haha. ☑️ Overal mate I think most to all clubs got a good draft haul. No one really lost as everyone walked away with promising talent across the board of a real depth heavy draft. I'm happy for my Roo's and think we're in a very good space heading into 2025.
Whilst I'm disappointed as a Bombers fan, we didn't get our hands on Shanahan or Armstrong I'm happy that we built a chest for next year's draft. We retain Melbourne's F1 and add St Kilda F2 at a cost of our own F3+F4 good business. Likely we have 4 picks inside top 35; we have to sacrifice to gain somewhere else. Otherwise, I'm happy with our draft haul didn't know too much about the other 4 guys after Kako. Also, Lucca Grego may have been half linked to Essendon but this didn't amount to much.
Yes, Richmond won the draft. But to be frank, they would have had to have been drunk to lose it with the position they were in. Unfortunately, it's not going to help Yze much next year, the poor bastard.

Richmond down the bottom for another 5-6 years lol
I find it hilarious that somehow these narratives are all true:
a) Levi Ashcroft is the ‘clear’ #1 pick in the draft
b) Brisbane paid a few picks in the 30s and 40s for the best player in the draft
c) Richmond won the draft
😂
B ignores that Brisbane got those lower picks by trading out their first round pick and next year's 2nd. It's not fair value, but it's not as bad as people make it seem either.
Levi wasn’t the “clear” #1 pick. He could’ve have been pick one sure, but so could have Lalor, Jagga, O’Sullivan or even Draper maybe.
@ that’s exactly my point! 🤦♂️ 😂
@@_..Justin-Case.._ Langford too.
North got a father/son at Anthony Stevens house. Wayne Carey's son.
100% Ross the boss would have bid on Kako if the dons kept pick 9. He’s for the people
Ross just wants to Make the Draft Great Again
I think (1) Richmond, (2) Saints (3) West Cost (a lot of value picks) and (4) Doggies.
As a Richmond fan we have a saying, “in Blair we trust!” But only time will tell. Excited to get pick 1 and 2 next year ;)
I think getting the third tall forward is smart for tigers, when Lynch was injured last year there was nothing. Trainor will join Gibcus, Balta and Broad.
Hi mate as a Richmond supporter I’m wrapped on who we got but we are so short on small forwards have a look at wat I did
I have done a chart of Richmond FC List of 2025
176-184cm =12
185- 193cm =13
194-201cm=16
202-213cm=3
We are too too heavy
Port are up there. Joe Berry, Jack Whitlock & Christian Moraes.
I’m a tiges supporter and imo port and Melb got the most value out of their picks
Your Tiges should be easy number 1. Shockingly strong draft!
nothing unexpected from the crows, only had 2 spots, disappointed that during the trade period we didn't keep pick 28 or 33, we could have easily had Dodson
Crows need a ruckman also
@fergulator7297 yeah we need to address that, unless Toby Murray turns out to be a star. sadly it looks like we might trader for one
A young ruckman would have been ideal and would be Adelaide's most urgent gap now Peatling and Draper can help inside and Cummins adds more outside speed and skill. But for what we gained this off-season, I can live with it for another year.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Geelong or Sydney end up winning the draft in the long term. They’re sneaky achievers.
Any concern richmond picked majority upside players who haven't proven heaps
Shanahan will end up being CHB. The Eagles already have about 5 lumbering tall forwards.
I can’t believe Carlton passed on Draper
@@fergulator7297freo wanted berry .. And tried to Trade up
@ true. Win win in the end. Although, I am sure Port wouldn’t have minded Tom Gross, even though they don’t really need him.
You should have graded every clubs draft
I’ve seen 3 media gradings and all are different it’s subjective
@@MarkQuigley-vj2lt I thought they were all a bit similar, eagles won the draft imo
Thomas Sims will become a ruckman
Richmond should have drafted Murphy Reid at pick 12 and just got Jonty Faul ar their next pick. 3 key forwards is one too many. Plus Murphy Reid will be the next Harry Sheezel.
Happy birthday
Langford will be the ultimate no 1
Yep, sims is a second ruck.
Richmond Brisbane Saints prob top3
Port nailed their 3 picks
Eagles look ok ….
Will be interesting to see in 3-4 years time who actually won the draft
Richmond traded 3 top 5 players for their draft haul - huge cost and impact not to be underestimated. Brisbane father son and academy- last breath of a broken system that will change next year. Sts needed a midfielder and drafted defenders.
Saints ,don't think they did that well at all,yes a few good players but not really what they needed ,most saint supporters a little dumbfounded
@@trevwilmot2112 yeah. I see your point. I'm saying that the eagles did the best with the hand they had. Deserve to be on the podium
@@biggi3st3v3 my point exactly
Congrats on meeting your goal mate!!!
I'll push back on your wording their for North mate. You say log jam of midfielders, I call it depth.
Obviously North as a club was into Tauru heavily and perhaps they did try trading down with pick 2. Absolute is though, they did their due diligence and opted to select FOS which was the right call for pick 2. Best available.
The club clearly sees the midfield as a ever evolving part to what they're building and by drafting FOS North now replace TT who was an unfortunate situation that resulted in a decision being made for the better. FOS is a big ☑️
North paid a premium for landing Whitlock and frankly there's more pros to outweigh the cons so people can dribble about it all they like, North got who they wanted and that's what counts. Way too soon to call it a success or failure so in terms of what North got with where their rebuild is at it's a good get. ☑️
Urquhart speaks to Norths evolving depth. Wouldn't of been my choice as their were some other good key position players available. However Luke is a prime example that North does want to drip feed the midfield moving forward. And Urquhart seems like a real inside-out bull. Freakishly strong with a good burst of pace to go with his defensive mindset ☑️
Fun fact: Gavin did in fact play for North and even FOS's dad for 9 ganes haha.
Overal mate I think most to all clubs got a good draft haul. No one really lost as everyone walked away with promising talent across the board of a real depth heavy draft.
I'm happy for my Roo's and think we're in a very good space heading into 2025.
Tigers , port and maybe eagles win this draft .
Richmond butchered their picks .. Adelaide must be stoked !
North melbourne big losers. Richmond and West coast winners.
Who won the draft? I’ll tell you in 10 years time
1) Tiges
2) Dees 😎
St Kilda had an amazing draft. I liked theirs more than anyone's.
Did any aboriginals boys get drafted ?
Malakai Champion
Yes, Richmond won the draft. But to be frank, they would have had to have been drunk to lose it with the position they were in. Unfortunately, it's not going to help Yze much next year, the poor bastard.
Flagendon did
Lolz
Tiges and Crows won
