Having 6-8 Gyms inside of the same massive city the size of the wild area would be really cool to see with a similar any order feature with the massive plot happening when you finished the Gym Challenge & a similar long pre gym challenge existing to what happened in Gen 8. Miltank: hey whitney, you got those steroids I wanted? Whitney: you've already had three injections today, and you have milk drink! Miltank: but... Please... Whitney: fine... Have 7 more...
6:26 You say that, when Milo, the first gym leader in Galar, uses Eldegoss, a Pokemon with 460 base stat total, very good for a first gym Pokemon. Bugsy, the second gym leader in Johto, uses Scyther, a Pokemon with 500 base stat total.
Except you know...base stat totals aren't everything. Both Milo and Bugsy use types that are weak to most earlygame mons. The entire first half of the wild area, all the routes before the gym, and even the isle of armor DLC are all open before you fight Milo. As for Bugsy, the early areas give enough rock/flying/electric types to deal with him, not to mention the fire starter. Steelix resists a lot of the earlygame normal moves, and you only have three pokemon that can do something to it - cyndaquil which dies to the rock moves it learns early on in HGSS, totodile which isn't a special attacker, and the route 32 woopers in case you started with chikorita. Typings and the available pokemon matter way more than base stat totals.
@@chonkyclouds7635 Pretty much. Hence why while having a higher BST, Bugsy's Scyther isn't as infamous as Whitney's Miltank. Bugsy's Scyther deffo got an upgrade with u-turn and now is actually in impressive poké, Miltank's moveset is just fucking disgusting. Same with Starmie (who is sometimes seen as strong) You're also likely to have a flying type, a rock type or a grass type, meaning having a higher BST poké with ok to bad moves is way easier to handle than a poké that can infatuate you, is bulky, can heal itself, and flinch you or ramp with rollout. If Scyther got swords dance to boost its ATK or something, it also would be fucking insane. Or Starmie with calm mind. But they don't.

15:17 This is a bit nitpicky but Cryogonal is WAY too strong for a first gym. The average base stat total for the ace of each gym leader is 373 (including Hala). Cryogonal’s BST is 515 which is crazy high. I know this is just a hypothetical but that’s insane. Great vid tho
Bear in mind that this is only nowadays, Cryogonal has received some of the biggest BST buffs amongst all Pokémon, it used to be 485, including back in Gen 5, so just give us that Cryogonal and boom, fixed.

Yes, yes. I'm aware that Magmar might be better than Scyther in a couple of ways. However, don't you think 110 Attack and 105 Speed is a bit much for the first gym? This is actually an interesint concept in itself. It always kinda depends on when would the trainer start. Such thing was brought up in the Pokemon Origins saga, when Brock was shown to have multiple Pokemon and he was choosing Pokemon to battle Red with based on the number of Badges Red had (which was 0 at the time) as Michael brought up in his video

You say that, when Milo, the first gym leader in Galar, uses Eldegoss, a Pokemon with 460 base stat total, very good for a first gym Pokemon.

Same with Starmie (who is sometimes seen as strong)
You're also likely to have a flying type, a rock type or a grass type, meaning having a higher BST poké with ok to bad moves is way easier to handle than a poké that can infatuate you, is bulky, can heal itself, and flinch you or ramp with rollout.
If Scyther got swords dance to boost its ATK or something, it also would be fucking insane.

Well Scyther is kinda his(her?) ace.
Magmar's stat distribution makes him just bulky enough to be far worse than Kadabra, and his typing and movepool is way beyond Scyther.
Yes, yes. I'm aware that Magmar might be better than Scyther in a couple of ways. However, don't you think 110 Attack and 105 Speed is a bit much for the first gym?
