Yay! Welcome back Chod! It was quiet for too long, you were an early find for me when I first discovered this reaction thing. I loved your Carpenters reactions and that was my hook. The drumming connection, I love drummers but am not one. I live vicariously through others talent. I want to start you off with some requests that won’t get struck but will blow your mind from the talent level. I’m going to drop a Super Thanks but below will be the information. I hope that’s OK, I don’t know what to give so I’m taking a shot and hope I’m good. 🙏

In October I was introduced to a young female singer because of my Carpenters obsession. Algorithms was right, now I’m obsessed with Tori Holub. I’m going to request two of her pieces. One is a full length video and one is a full length audio. I say that because her channel is primarily shorts. She covers many artists and songs of my youth. 60’s-80’s. She does them justice beyond what a 20 year old should know. Talk about an old soul. She is a Carpenters super-fan, again she’s 20. To me when someone tries to cover Karen, I say nice try, next. I listened to Tori and got goosebumps. So she had my ear. She did an Olivia cover, goosebumps. She did a song in her own pure Alto voice, you guessed it, goosebumps. Now for my requests.
In 1970 Carpenters appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and debuted The Bacharach/David Medley in a live to tape performance. It was a masterpiece of Karen singing and drumming live with Richard and the whole band. No one has ever covered this and kept it as it was in 53 years. One Tribute Act did it 5 years ago but changed it.
Tori did a Short of a piece of it. She was requested by a subscriber to do the whole thing. She took the challenge and did it. Now she’s not out in a field like they were, she did the whole darn Medley in her home doing everything except she used a music backing track, which existed in the right tempo! She is ALL THE VOICES meaning Karen and Richard and did all the recording, stacking, editing EVERYTHING. She produced it all. I’ll give you keywords to find it on her channel. It’s the 5+ minute version as there’s a Short.

Next is her most recent song release. This is a cover of the Ray Charles classic; Georgia On My Mind. It’s a professionally produced recording. It’s a new arrangement of the song. Chris May produced and arranged this song. He’s also an author. He cowrote; Carpenters: The Musical Legacy, with Mike Cidoni Lennox and Richard Carpenter. So, cred. Chris also played piano in the song. Here’s some keywords but it’s near The Medley on her channel.

That’s an easy on and there’s only one version. There are a ton of Shorts there to preview her voice if you’d like to. You’ll see I’m not recommending junk. LOL You’ll know many of them so no real spoilers. On a side note for drumming. If you go to the very oldest videos on her channel. The very first thing she did before singing a not; was to compile a montage of Karen’s drumming. That has drawn 70K+ views and is quite nice. She had to be about 18 when she did that. To complete the credibility on Tori. She’s an invited singer in April to the Carpenters 55th Anniversary Celebration in Downey, CA. I have my ticket.
I loaded you up with Tori and to an extent Carpenters related goodness. Nothing here gets struck but is awesome. So glad you’re back! Enjoy!

She’s special and has affected me in my older years like Karen did in my teens. Not too many spoilers, yet, just that as an OG Carpenters fan; I think the world of her. I already know, you will too. Just hanging around, waiting for you to finish the Steely Dan "Aja" doc. You haven't got to drummer Bernard Purdie's demonstration yet. For a drummer you might not have heard of, you might try Marco Minnemann's solo on the song "Blues F*ckers", which is sort of his parody of blues music, with Guthrie Govan playing wrong notes on purpose with a fretless guitar, before it turns into a drum solo. The best version is called "The Aristocrats - Blues Fuckers Drum Solo ", though it is the full song and 15:48 long.
Hopefully you were smart enough to throw in the "Race Card" when complaining about your strikes! The channels i see that have been here a lot longer than you have a format and structure in how they present there reactions!!! You on the other hand have swayed different directions, i believe at times you should have taken your own advice. I've heard you say and others say "I hope this reaction/video doesn't get blocked" Fortunately you have a very attractive wife who is also very personable, that you can LEAN ON to be seen! Dee i knew could do well on here, and you seemed to have slid in to take away some of the limelight!
