Saw it on Broadway years ago. My mom was visiting, and that's the show she'd been wanting to see for years. First, my mom is one of those lucky folks who always gets the parking spot closest to the entrance. We were standing in line at the Ticketron for unsold matinee tickets. Told her we didn't have a chance of seeing 42nd Street because it's always, always sold out. You guessed it - we got to the window just as a runner came up with only two tickets!!! That's my mom's luck at work. What a show!!!
I regularly watch the 1933 movie, and was delighted with the entire performance of this Drury Lane recording at my local Odeon (UK). Unfortunately on this recording, particularly in the opening half, the tap-dancing is subdued.
I agree. The whole thing is subdued. Either the leading lady was having a bad night or she was a poor choice. She can dance but no fire. I’ve seen this done in community theater and this number made the house come down.
I performed this musical with my school in 2016 and my director extended the final big dance number (42nd street) so it was 12 minutes of continuous dancing and it was a literal killer, especially for us who weren’t the strongest dancers. But it was so much fun, still one of my favourite musicals of all time
I have to admit I’ve seen this 4 times, twice in New York and London 81 NY and 84 London. Again NY in 2002 and London 2018. All the productions were mind blowing but if pushed London far out beats New York’s productions. Shame both Broadway and the West End is closed up right now.
Tk you v v much for uploading this!! Thé Drury L’âne production was awesome!! I saw it 11 times.... had to go into rehab after the final curtain ❤

42nd Street is the epitome of the great American musical. I absolutely love it, but I wish it were ranked higher in the great broadway musical lists.
We’ve seen this fantastic show on Broadway and on tour. We never get tired of it
I downloaded the entire show for free and watch it all the time ... superb production!
Craig, saw your comment about 42nd ST. Where can I go to download it on my laptop? David B

I'm madly in love with this Clare woman.
I have the full show which was professionally recorded for an American website. Loved it at Drury Lane and great to see it again.
I've been looking for a DVD of that recording - do you know where to get hold of it, please?
BroadwayHD
Sadly we can't view this production in the UK (re copyright) a brilliant production

Saw this twice in London. Would love to see this in New York. Probably never going to happen now with bloody Covid on the loose!
I saw the Broadway Production a few years ago!
Have you seen this version from the National Theatre?
@@CarolineATorge - NATIONAL Theatre? I'm pretty sure this is the 2017 London revival at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I watched it in the UK at the New Theatre Royal in Lincoln
This production can be found on Broadway HD. I'd have loved to have seen the production of which you speak of!

Geez, she's so good.
I love this so much but around 9 minutes of tap dancing make my legs hurt just watching.

@@isiabellaforks7399 i betbit looked amazing. I don't think my body could do 12 mins of tap dance without dying now...lol
@@jamesreves2099 I was dead, we did 4 shows, 2 back to back, and they were killers. It did look amazing though
