I always thought Mitsuda was so bold to let a final boss theme like this become atmospheric for almost a full minute before the crescendos into the string sections and choir notes we all remember the most. It's nearly as if the game wants you to take a minute and realize that this fight IS happening and that you WILL save a broken world if you win it.
One of my longtime top favorite tracks from Xenogears. The choir-esque vocals are what really sell the notion you're fighting for your life against "God". I love that they used it for the event battle against Deus in Brave Exvius; a lot of nostalgia came pouring back during the Xenogears banner.
We've arrived. The penultimate boss and the last true boss in the game. Fei the Contact vs Deus, the machine pretending to be God. One of the best boss themes Square has ever produced. Yasunori once again out does himself.
No joke, one of my favourite last boss themes. I love playing it in sequence with World Revolution from Chrono Trigger and Dragon God from Chrono Cross. Get that beautiful Yasunori Mitsuda progression ❤

本当に一大叙事詩な作品でした。
この一曲を聴く度に、冒険した記憶が蘇る。
プレイする度に色んな発見があって、
奥深さというものを子供心に理解した、
そんなゲームだったなぁ。
