As somebody who always speeds through farming game stories and dialogue, I’m actually glad that this game is pretty minimal with that kind of stuff. I’m here for the decorating, farming, and mining. So far I’m really loving the game and I haven’t really liked any of the farming sims since My time at Portia released.
I'm actually kind of relieved that the dialogue and characters are pretty surface level. I love Stardew Valley but always get overwhelmed by all the different characters and stories/gift giving/relationship mechanics, but when I would ignore them it would give me FOMO.
I'm glad this game lets me live my anti-social fairy life 🧚♀
I think what I like most about Fae Farm is that you can basically go anywhere on the map, it makes hunting for recipes so much fun.
Thanks for commenting on story depth. Story's important for me if I'm playing something that I expect will be RPG-elemented, and I'm sad to hear how underwhelming the story sounds. :( But this definitely helped me from impulse buying it like I wanted to because of the faerie aesthetic. I'll probably get it whenever it goes on sale instead!
Have you ever played a Farming Sim before? Most Farming Sim stories are usually cut and dry.
@@baldmanvoices6323 i have, but it also felt like it might have been a bit more, like rf or something. which is more than hm was or even sdv at times (a few times. I've only been able to play 2 of those)
i swear it was advertised as an rpg farm sim, not a regular one
@@fluffybunnybadass It somewhat is due to the fact that your skills like foraging, combat, magic, cooking, can be leveled up and boost stats but besides that it's straight farming. If you play farming sims for the farming/grinding aspect it's a lot of fun. But if you play it for the social/dating/story aspects then it might not be enjoyable
@baldmanvoices6323 fair enough. I'm more into rpgs for story so that's more of a case of what a genre means to someone versus what it technically can be defined as. thanks for clearing that up!
@@fluffybunnybadass No problem! With Kingdom Hearts being my favorite series, I also enjoy Story RPGs, Final Fantasy, Persona, etc. But every once in awhile I like playing something no brains like this game lol
I think I’m going to hold off on this game after this. I was excited for this game, but I’m bummed by the reports of how limited the npc dialogue, story, and events are. I think I’ll just wait for it to go down in price a bit and have more chance for developing. Thanks for the review!
yeah it depends what you're looking for in a farming sim, so totally understand if it's missing the thing you love about them
I'm gonna have to agree. My thing is, I'd expect shallow npcs from a $15-30 game. For $60 thats a no; I can stick to Palia.
If you have a PC it isn't that expensive. You can buy the standard version without the DLCs. $60 includes two DLCs one for December and one for June.

I appreciate the thorough review. This sounds like something I'll enjoy, especially since "mindless games to play while listening to other stuff" is my favorite genre, lol. The only thing that sounds annoying thus far from what you've said would be the limitation of only working on one quest at a time. That sounds quite frustrating, but also like something the devs could easily patch in the future... so here's hoping?
Either way, I'm definitely pre-ordering this one. I look forward to jumping into it tomorrow.
You can work on more than one quest so long as it’s not a job quest but it only displays one quest at once
This was an amazing, detailed, and wonderful review. I noticed that the longer people have played it the better the review, I like how they roll out a lot of the exciting bits later on in the game so you are surprised throughout! Seeing your farm made me wanna play so much today!
I'm sold. Just preordered on Switch. The more magical looking areas are so cute. I can't wait! It sounds like the relationships and character interactions will be lackluster, but I can play Baldur's Gate for that. 😄
Seriously tho it looked amazing before but learning it gets EVEN better once you get into the meat of the game makes me want it all the more

I was a little worried about the price point of the game and there not being a lot of content, but this review has wiped all those worries away... I can't wait!
It's a shame they didn't drop the price on Switch. I struggle to justify the price especially while I'm still working through Wilde Flower which was half the price. Granted not nearly as big and complex but still. I think I will keep playing that and patiently wait for a sale before snagging it.
No they only provided the deluxe version which includes both DLCs
YOU ACTUALLY CAN DO MULTIPLE JOB QUESTS. The warning is for when you activate each individual tear of each quest. So if I have 'Catch a 2 Sea Fish' 'activated (highlighted with a flashing dashed box around that specific their quest itsefl) and then I try to activate another quest. Let's say, August's, "Make five Salads". It would cancel out any progress I've made on catching the 2 sea fish, but it wouldn't go back and erase all my previous tears of hard work. Just the tear I had currently activated.

I always love the feeling of a game opening up and peeling back the curtain after you think you’re seen what it has to offer! It’s one of the things that was always incredible with Elden Ring was seeing that map constantly expand, or the Star Ocean games!

I just got this game and I love it! I think there’s a simple fishing option in the menu somewhere to change fishing if you don’t like the mini game!

I've been playing Palia and it just... isn't hitting those key notes that I want from a farming game. My plan was to kinda stick it out with Palia until Fae Farm went on some sort of sail because the original price was just too much for me at the moment. But with the new price drop, I think I'll be picking it up :D

yeah if that's one thing you love about farming sims then it's defo something that falls short for this one!
Personally I don't care about relationships and NPC's, I figure if I want that then I should just play The Sims. I've played about 12 hours of this game and I am no where near done. I bought this on Switch so I paid $60 and it was absolutely worth it. I equate how much a game is worth with how long the game is; and this game will easily be over 40 hours or more. I have paid $70 for an RPG game that was 40 hours, so to me this was a bargain. This is an excellent game, I am having a blast playing it. I highly recommend it.
Great review. As story and dialogue/relationships are very much important to me, I really appreciate that you didn't gloss over the game's weaknesses simply because they weren't important to you. They got similar time as other features of the game and it's that well roundedness that keeps me coming back. Thanks. 🥰

One of the devs actually addressed the limited selling space on the discord. Apparently the idea is that the processing is their version of “bulk selling“. They want us to start selling items individually and build up to the shipment contracts. That’s why the space to sell individual items is limited. I already pre-ordered so I’m so excited for this game 🎉

I'll probably wait for a sale, even with the cheaper Steam version. I was so excited to FINALLY have a cozy game about playing a fairy! But, I'm iffy on whether I'd play it much as is.
Really bummed that it's so expensive on Switch. I could justify maybe £35 but £60? Especially considering that I mainly play for the NPC's and the world building and the sense of community. So glad I watched your review before buying! I'll wait for a massive sale or something lol

For me Palia has become stale so this is dropping at a perfect time as by the time I’ve dropped several weeks into this, hopefully Palia will offer something else to explore or do 😁
I absolutely couldn’t agree more. This game is absolutely amazing. This game doesn’t take too much brain power either which is my favorite after a really busy day.
I’m loving it. I usually hate the mines and fishing in sims but I really like both. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the bees. I wish you didn’t have to keep refilling your bee hives. I can see me abandoning the beehives.

To be honest the most annoying parts in these games are towns folk and events lol like I love the fact that it’s not that big of a thing in Fae Farm
I'm so conflicted as to whether to get the game on the Switch or on PC, especially because I definitely prefer playing games like this on console, since it just feels more cosy. The 60 euro selling prince for the switch version just has me a little :/ That being said, I'm definitely excited to play it at some point!
I’m very much looking forward to playing this game. But I’m very conflicted as to which platform to play it on. I’m inclined to get it on Steam for the lower price and better performance, but on the other hand, I’m a collector who wants a physical copy for Switch, which is currently my preferred platform for most games.
Can text be scaled If I have some vision problems? Is the UI big enough. Not sure if I want to do this on PC or Switch yet.

Is fae farm similar to animal crossing in the way you can put hundreds of hours into it? Or like wilde flowers that has an actual ending?
Personally don’t mind the characters or lack there of. I tend to focus more on and enjoy the farming aspect of farming sims and ignore the social aspect, it’s why I struggled so much to get into SoS: AWL. I typically also will romance but only really based on if they’ve got a cute appearance and decent enough personality

I'm still 50/50 on it, I kind of wanted to play it but $60 on the eshop is an incredibly hard sell for me, especially with Pokemon DLC coming up and I'd just rather spend money on that at the moment. Maybe further down the line I'll purchase, but for now I'm going to buy Stray Gods!

Have you played Mail time ? I was trying to go back to your video because I felt like you review it before or at least the trailer . Is there some other game when you are flying through the woods ?? 😭😭
Loving it so far but be aware there are some places you can get to that are really hard if not impossible to get out of. due to little obstructions. I got caught on a little ledge between some bushes yesterday and had to shut the game down restart. Save your game often.

I LOVE Fae Farm!!!! I love that it has a story, it gives me a reason to keep playing. I love that you can farm and much or as little as you want. And I love the cute animals!

After playing since release I noticed that one thing really annoys me: it will NOT pause during loading screens an when you want to read your mail or organize your inventory (which is annoyingly difficult). Work around for the mail thingy on switch is just to take a picture and read it via your photos. But although there is no consequence for not going to bed it bothers me till no end, that the game just finished the day when I was holding the freakin' button to go to sleep... Is this only a switch problem?
I agree. It is addictive. Good thing I have cats that come to me to break up the playtime and remind me of time.
