The "howdah" was the basket on the elephants back from which they hunted. The pistol was for use when a tiger was climbing into the basket with you, hence the name. Buddy of mine had a 16 gauge pinfire howdah SxS pistol with some nice engraving. Really fun to shoot, but the pinfire cartridges don't hold much powder, so I think you actually get better velocity with a front-stuffer like the Pedersoli. If you made ammo for it using nitrided paper to hold the powder and shot/ball, it would be nearly as quick to reload as the cartridge guns.
I'm not sure about the effectiveness of the shot after going through several layers of heavy winter clothing, say a heavy thermal shirt, hefty sweatshirt, & thick winter coat. The important thing it looks like you had blast shooting a cool black powder gun!
Believe it or not, they've got these things called 'chairs', which allow a person to NOT have to hunker down like a monkey on a football! These 'chairs' come in all kinds of sizes, shapes, and comfort levels which fit 99.9% of most folks needs. Try one sometime. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central Wyoming

That muzzle looks like you have a 20X50 or a 20X58 combination howdah. or are those both 20x20 barrels?
I have a single shot black powder rifle & it's surprisingly accurate.
I've seen some on-line with piccany rails for a scope, & got to handle one in a local gun/pawn shop. That would make good YT search.

It's been suggested before. One of the adjustable height stools drummers use would be great; even a 5 gallon plastic container is better than nothing.
