    This is so awesome. I had a stroke in 2011. I've picked up some bad habits and I'm starting over fresh. Understanding why my body is doing what it is, helps tremendously. Thank you so much. So happy I found you.

    Love this one! BTW: thanks for all your videos! In the matter of a day went from award winning body builder to a neurologist saying I would never get out of bed again. But now I have a new kind of body building, proving him wrong!

    I walk around the house without my cain, but I use it when I go somewhere, for support and keep me from tripping from small stones and. Debris.

    One thing that is helping me transition off the cane is using a tall cane/staff/walking stick (handle is about chest high). It keeps you more upright, aligns your body to a more normal walking position so you can strengthen the muscles and get them to work together. It becomes a tool for small balance adjustments instead of relying on it as a 3rd leg.

    You are incredible. After 6 years of suffering i finally found the answers in your videos. After 2 weeks of following the exercises prescribed by you i feel 50 % better. Already leaning to walk normal.
    I can't thank you enough. Please keep the good work up. You are helping so many people who otherwise would suffer .

    I recovered on my own using the handrails at the hospital where I was treated & went home by the afternoon. That's how bad I really wanted a Coca-Cola in a vending machine & a cigarette too. If you want something bad enough you will do what it takes to get better all on your own.

    Three years into my Stroke, I went from using a Platform Walker to A HEMI WALKER which I started in September 19, 2022. Now I can walk further distances each day, transfer to a toilet, and walk up and down therapy steps with help. (Started with Steps on Oct. 11, 2022), Thanks to your videos I HAVE ACCOMPLISHED A LOT since my Stroke of Dec. 2019. Thanks

With a product this fabulous there must be a fabulous team. So thank your helpers from me too. The local rehab gym has been closed because of Covid. Hi there! First of all thank you for your videos and throughout explanations, the world needs more people and specialists like you! I would like to ask you a question. I've suffered a sever brain injury resulting in a lesion right in the centre of the motor cortex so my legs are the affected limbs, I have a little knee spasticity and foot drop/spasticity on my left leg. I can pretty much do all the movements you talked us through in your videos and I mostly walk wearing an afo brace on my affected ankle. I do find that my legs get really stiff when I sit down or don't move for a bit and don't feel completely safe walking down a hill for example, so sometimes I bring a cane along to support me in those situations. Would you have any suggestions for this?

    I use an arm sling to stabilize my left arm from throwing my balance out when I walk. my wife doesn't feel comfortable on me doing that. But I Walk into church without my cane. I haven't gone into a store because my hip right side gives me pain. I'm thinking of going back to rehab.

    Lov the vids and info. Tough demographic, stroke patients. I have MS, male 56, working to smooth my walk. Drop ft rt side, stiffness in rt arm and hand. Keep the vids coming. Damage is damage. Did some dry needling with some success. Thks for taking it to the basics. Ever hear of patterning. Basically crawling for adults. Helping the brain to relearn or remap the basic motion. We all crawled before we walked. David

    • @rehabhqofficial
      @rehabhqofficial  4 роки тому

      Thanks for watching and for the comment! This is a very common problem. This probably means that your leg has not "learned" the movement to the point where it is engrained (hardwired) in your brain. I might recommend spend more time walking in a quiet, familiar environment. You have to do a movement 100s of times (correctly) before it becomes "automatic". Once it becomes "automatic" you will experience more consistency when you start adding addition challenges (ie: walking fast or walking in an unfamiliar environment). I am thinking when you are "walking fast" you are probably trying to get somewhere and that ads a TON of stimulation that can interfere with quality movement. I hope this helps!

I am 61 yr old female and I want to get rid of this cane and walk normal again. My legs are weak and sore. Plz any advise is greatly appreciate and I need to walk again before I end up stuck like this. I do also have osteoarthritis. I have been like this for almost a year now , I'm so isolated , my brother bought me a brand new car so I wouldn't have to walk and I have to turn side ways to get in my car but first and pull my left leg in sometimes. Please tell me what to do. Thank you, Joni Minton

      Thanks for the comment! as much as possible. Remember, your brain and body are in "learning" mode. Think about how much time you spent learning as a child (hrs a day). It requires a very similar strategy after a stroke :)

    Dr. Tobias, really really grateful for your videos. Thank you for educating us. I had a stroke 2 years ago, and a lot of my problems are exactly what you describe in your videos. Thank you so much. They're really helping me in my recovery journey. If only, I could subscribe 100 times :)))

    I had a CVA 23mon. and 3 days ago. I was a bad one. Was in the hospital for 13 days. I used a walker for 5 days. The first day, It took me 25 min. to walk 50 yards. I said to my self, this wont do. On the 6th day I went to a cane. I said, this is better. 10 days later I carry the cane, just in case. What help was that if I was a wake, I worked on getting better. I was 67 when I had the CVA. I am still numb. Getting better was my job. I went back to work 6mon. after the CVA.
