OMG at 12:20 when He said you have to be "READY TO COMPROMISE". I felt that in my spirit. It is the biggest thing I observed from those who are already married but not spoken about. A lot of people who are single are always saying they not going to settle, not going to compromise and its blows my mind because there is a difference in having standards or being selfish and thinking everything has to go your away. There is NO WINNER IN MARRIAGE. WIN TOGETHER .... those are some bars. SELFLESNESS.

Also you dont have to agree on every single thing! you two are different people born and raised in seperate families. Marrige is good specially when both partners keep showing for eachother everyday

When you talked about the different ways you show each other love I related so much! My husband is similar to keith: His love language is definitely acts of service and he is not quick to show love through words or physical affection, which is what I crave. In the first two years of our relationship is was a journey for both of us, for him to slowly integrate more verbal and physical affection, but also for me to recognize the many many things he does for me that show his love and care! it was a two way process :)

Marriage is worth it, if you’re someone who’s interested in building a family, in my opinion. The current economic state of the country is on the bridge of recession & collapse constantly.
I’ve realized most couples STILL financially struggle while married bc of inflation. In my mind, if I’m going to still be struggling, struggling to “have a better life & freedom,” but still have to be responsible for another human being(besides a child) then I might as well do this life of a circus as a single person. Emotional & mental companionship is nice, but it sadly doesn’t pay the bills & the cost of living just KEEPS
Going up. We spend more time working, than we do actually fostering relationships☹️

I'm always intrigued by comments like "yes, a Black Christian couple. Yay!"What is unique about their relationship in comparison to others? I think Black Christian couples are a norm in our community. I'm not saying there's absolutely nothing to celebrate but why do the centers keep getting recentered rather than the margins.... Food for thought.

What can be inferred from this data is this argument: most men today including black men that can afford to marry in most cases don't want to marry black women. Kevin Samuels argues black women are looked down upon the most in modern society and this has shifted / translated into black women marrying the least of every other race. I don't really need to say it but you probably are aware of how black men are viewed as it relates to crime and violence. In other words if all a person sees is their people in negative light seeing this would obviously give them relief especially if they also share religious beliefs with this couple. Personally I agree with the person's comment. It looks good and feels good. It looks sincere and healthy.
Short Answer: I feel like black people just have a lot of love for each other dispite differences because of shared burden of race. That makes us a community still...hopefully? lol ❤ and often our community is shown in negative light to the world so I could see why this would be a relief to that person.

@@fa9183 it's used by my family to subordinate women or use the marriage as a means of lifting up the socioeconomic status of the family. There's not a single happy marriage in my parents' generation - they've all divorced, or are having affairs and have accepted the end of their marriage. That kind of thing. People aren't given the resources to make marriage work, or given a healthy and amicable way out of marriage. And in the country I live in, and in most countries, marriage is a legal contract two people sign to be bound together by the state which the two people have no control over the terms of. No thank you. I'll stay single on paper, even if I end up having a long term monogamous partnership.
