0:00 - 3:21 So the impression I get after watching this segment is, Negan didn't choose Abraham at random; he chose him because Abraham's body language (by straightening up while Negan stood in front of him, while everyone backed down) made him a threat to Negan. If Negan _hadn't_ killed Abraham, but _had_ broken Rick, then Abraham would've likely taken over the group and led an attack against Negan in the future.
SynValorum Negan saw a physical threat by that look. Like ’if we make it out of this I'll cut ur sack open..’ he had Carl to mindfuck Rick with. Maggie to Glenn, but that Abraham kill was almost a I'm scared of this guy if we ever get Alone lol. Fuckin loved Abe..
yeah that's a primitive thing. It's sorta like two males contesting each other in the wild, only in this case Abraham probably knew he was screwed and just wanted to go with his head held high, being a tough soldier and all. And Negan just took offense to it.
yes i thought the very same first time he came on. his smile is to say i am very happy with you not being happy. your happiness depends on me and my happiness has zero to do with you. be like negan and you will be happy to..this is what is going on with that smile. lots of nut case folks have this psychotic smile. never trust anyone who dont show the appropriate emotion for the situation. in contrast how you win over people is to show the same emotion as them this leads them to think bonds are present when they may or may not be.. hence smile and the whole world smiles cry and you cry alone...
T33K4Y It was already oroven that it is only a matter if time before a virus mutates and humanity is pushed to the vrink of extinction one way or another. Zombies or not.
Also, you forgot to bring up how he psychologically controls his victims. First example we see of this is when he leaves his axe on the table behind him. Right in front of Rick, just a grab and attack away from killing Negan while his back was turned. But when he actually tried and Negan turned around and told him to drop it, he completely changed the way Rick now thinks. Now, if Rick ever gets the opportunity to stab him in the back, he'll think twice. He'll assume Negan is always one step ahead of him and can't be caught by suprise, so Rick won't ever attempt that again. First time we see Negan taking advantage of that is when he let's Rick hold his bat the whole episode, while he steals all of their weapons and half of their possessions. Negan just handed Rick the ability to end it right then and there by giving him lucille, but he knows he won't lift a finger because he doesn't just physically control him now, he psychologically controls him. Rick believes that Negan can't be snuck up on, and now he'll be too afraid to ever try to. Even if he knows of a plan that would work, he will always second guess himself and never actually attempt to execute it because Negan has the upper hand psychologically.
That makes sense but I more thought it was because, if Rick did anything like that, the Saviors would drop them several times over and they'd just get wiped out. But Negan definitely is a very intelligent person. Notice in 701 how everyone is lounged over but Abraham is very stern. Negan takes out the dominant member of the group, Daryl retaliates, so Negan shuts it down. Not by killing Daryl, but by killing someone completely innocent. Reminding the group of the consequences. Daryl is breaking with guilt. Rick stays dominant as well so Negan breaks him down and now Rick is completely in check... for now..
***** The saviors don't even like Negan. In the comics when Alexandria takes Negan hostage, the saviors didn't hesitate to replace him with Dwight. Once he was made the new leader, the saviors kept to themselves for the most part, to my understanding. Negan only has the psychological advantage over people. He's just one guy after all.
True, but in the TV show, I think he has more respect out of them. That moment when Dwight goes out to get the runaway, the runaway says "Some guys shows up with a bat and everyone follows him? He's just one guy". The Saviors were losing and starving. He showed up and made them strong. Fed them and supplied them. If someone tried to kill him in the TV show, if Rick rose his bat too high and tried to strike negan when he wasnt looking, a Savior would defend him because they don't want to go back to losing.
Jeremiah Kivi My point stands. They kill Negan, Saviors drop them all and Saviors win. I love Negan. They would defend him because he is carrying them through the apocalypse.
Negan is the best bad guy we have ever had. Like you hate him but you love him at the same time. And hes so good that you dont even want him to die. Lol anybody else agree.
I agree. Especially after Rick pulls the “a mans word is worth something” a minute before betraying people. And Negan actually has rules and some semblance of dedication to maintaining order, no matter how ruthless and violent.
The thing is that rick is a better leader due to him actually having compassion and caring about his people and him seeing them as equal to him. There's a respect there that negan will not, and does not give.
The trouble is, Neegan leaves permanent scars on his victims- meaning they have a constant reminder of his cruelty every time they look in the mirror. In reality, a lot of people WOULD deem murdering him- even if it meant their own certain death- a worthwhile guttural response.
yea its a lawless world where everyone is in a very dark place. though there is credit to his charisma a lot of his survivability depended on him not getting stabbed in the back. edit: meanig - luck / plot armor
Yes but the reason he does this is, is that he wants you to think that if you oppose him your the odd man out and that’s what makes people so obedient of him
When you break a person, it is very rare for that person to react. Think of an abused child. It's the psychological scarring that gives the parent power. Doesn't matter how much they hate negan, he has broken them. Look at darrell
Yes but that’s part of what negan does if you mess up he doesn’t kill you, he kills someone close to you and makes you live knowing you killed that person. So people don’t risk uprisings because it’s not only their life that’s at risk
@@ALLmasked not entirely. I mean there are plenty of cults and countries ruled on this same fear where the people do nothing even when they outnumber them. Negan is followed by his most loyal of guards, has more weaponry and better health then those under him and is not afraid to kill. its not as black and white as "he scarred me therefore I will kill him". Look at Hitler and the SS. As bad as it was for Hitler during the final years he still had super loyal guards that would give their life for him even in an endless situation. There were even SS troops that when Hitler was dead still fought in his name.
Then turns his back to them, he arms them knowing they want to hurt him, then looks away. Ultimate power play, nothing says you don't scare me at all like that.
@@paytonwirtjes523 it also calls out their cowardice. Because that person knows they can't do it for one reason or another. But someone who simply doesn't care or have that fear would strike consequence be damned.
@@ryanwood6754 it's a mind game. About control. He gives them the chance to follow what they wanna do kill him, but then they think about what it means for the rest of the group. And decide instead to follow. He's forcing the choice to follow him, that specific mind game solidifies who is in control of the situation, he makes the target feel in control with a weapon, privacy, and edge against him, since his back is turned. To do him harm. But makes THEM decide to concede and follow instead. Sounds simple but the future implications are powerful. Everytime they wanna do him harm after they remember thier first choice
Negan also takes his good ol' sweet time to say whatever it is that he has to say. He leaves lots of dead time between words and phrases to emphasize that he owns the "airspace", and to make others wait for him to finish, which is a form of submission in its own right.
yep.. i agree that its Rick's body language.. and style.. that he looks down even when he's being dominant.. and it also works well.. but the context is different.. negan tamed rick at that time.. also he was making him say thank you to himself.. clearly rick didn't wanted to say thank you to negan for stealing his food.. that's why he looked away.. because he had to.. he couldn't afford to make him angry.. that's why he looked up.. then away.. then down.. and said thankyou.. And negan appreciated that rick is scared of him.. by saying.. dont b ridiculous.. Thankk yoouu.. 😏

I always felt like Negan is a dog trainer, and he's treating everyone like that. punishing them when they do wrong, and giving them a treat when they do a cool trick. XD
I also just realised that Negan noticed that instead of punishing Daryl directly for his actions, Negan kills one of his friends instead. This could be a way of showing any of the people trying to die as martyrs for the group that he is spontaneous and won't just punish them for their actions
That's exactly what he does. To make you regret your actions that caused the death of another. "Think about what happened, what didn't happen, and what could still happen." He's saying, "Bow to me or I'll kill your family one by one in front of you then let you live on to remember it." I hate Negan...
He explained that to gabriel in the truck. He unified a couple of gangs that were fighting each other in the region of the sanctuary. I dunno how he did it, probably with his persuasive methods. And I think that Simon used to be the leader of one of those gangs. Because when he tried to act like he was the boss, negan got mad and asked him if they were backsliding.
Nobody would/can move at that point . The legs will probably succumb to fear and its too heavy to even move . Hence why he can only muster his courage to maintain an eye contact and exert dominance in a matter of seconds .
You forgot the most important thing! He forced Rick to do something horrific (chop of his own son's arm) then at the last minute showed "mercy." This creates a sense of gratitude to Negan for not being MORE brutal.
He's such a genius, yet all three of his top guys turned against him, and that's how he lost the 'war' with Rick. That's probably closer to reality. In a real life situation. Negan wouldn't last a week because someone would kill him.
@@kshitijnigam6849 There were also plenty of other opportunities to kill him such as the time when he was in rick's house making freaking spaghetti. Carl could've easily killed him
DonatIbraimi my thing with Rick is that he has no real personality on the show. Yea he's the leader and all that but when does he ever make us laugh? When does he do anything besides have that stone face on and lead the group? We hardly EVER see any other side to him yet somehow he's everyone's favorite character.
Rick: Kills more than 30+ of his men out of assumptions Negan: Kills 4 of Ricks men as punishment Rick: Wants to kill Negan Negan: Wants to let Rick and his group live so Rick can scavenge for supplied and have peace. Negan is the reasonable one if you think about it.
"assumptions" you mean other groups telling Rick that Negan killed some of their men? "Have peace" your definition of peace is being forced to scavenge supplies for someone else?
@@callmeOZ96 Just because he killed their men doesn't mean that he was going to kill Rick's people as well. He killed their men because they fought back. Rick did a good thing killing 30 of Negan's men but when you think about it, it doesn't justify him. If it was someone else instead of Negan, they would've destroyed Rick's group. And he had the chance to do that, but he didn't. He gave them a chance to live under one circumstance.

Well that cop lady wasn't really a villain, she was just trying to keep order in the hospital and survive. This Negan would be a perfect apprentice, i can feel his anger! it gives him focus! makes him stronger! now Negan Strike them down with all your hate and your journey towards the Dark Side will be COMPLETE!!!
Great job shaun, way to go. thank 4 puttin that out in the light. We had no idea he meant it literally. Wow, what a surprise. U want a big fat medal? reach into my pants bro, edi obviously meant it to be literal. 10/10 job pointing that out.
I don't agree with all your points, especially the cult of personality thing. Negan builds his power from fear, not admiration or fanatisme. The saviors knews the consequences they'll have to face if they didn't follow the orders, even miles away from him. Of course there is going to be a percentage of criminals that will follow him for his strong and violent leading figure, but not in a obsessive cultic way. So I don't find the Manson comparison relevant in this case. At some point leaders like Negan get took down.
People would call themselves negan even without negan around. Like at the satellite station Or when negan js with Gabriel after rick attacks Sanctuary. They respect negan. Even when negan is locked in jail people miss him. I think ur kinda a moron
To be fair there was a sense of admiration. Think about that Brandon kid who was obsessed with the Savior legacy and Negan, or Jed and his rogues. Negan left a lasting impression on these people and they also did benefit in a way from his endeavors. Yeah it was all fear to some like Dwight, but the majority were loyal followers.
baashdi hobstocking lol, that was weird. Not sure what to say to that... are you particularly sensitive to "who's getting thumbs?" lol. Would you like it if I thumbed up your comment?
I think the difference between both "challenges" is: Abraham stood up to Negan as an equal. Both had calm and didn't hesitate for a second. But the problem is that Daryl showed courage in a dumb way. He acted too emotionally. Probably that "brave moment" was what kept him alive.
He was also the skilled fighter of the group. I mean Daryl is more a hunter, Rick is a leader. Abraham was a warrior. You don't want the warriors because they will fight and die for their leaders.
I think an important factor that you overlooked was his overall physically dominant presence. Judging by the way he towers over almost everyone on the show, I'd say he appears to be 6'3" - height is very important in social interaction and dominance.
But yeah that height is a cherry on top. But the bigger you are the easier to hit them with a bullet, also big people arebt the best at stealth. If he gets his hands or baseball bat on you though....
Imagine if Negan become president of USA. While Negan speaking to people he will say Negan: who hell are you?? US people: we are Negan! Negan: you God damn right! 😂😂
believe me in indonesia that puppet president using this methods to control people. his puppeteer brainwashed like half the country to identify their self as "jokowi" the puppet president's name. they would proudly ask "who are we ?" and the people would blindly answer, "i am jokowi" thus demonized the opposition as non-jokowi and the enemy of the president and the country. oh I do hope that in the 17th april 2019 election, the opposition win. that puppet president needs to go down.
Man you are really clever and observant, i do know quite a few things about body language and psychology but how you unite things that people never though could be related its amazing and the way you make people understand it, we need you to make a few books and start doing speeches around the states cause believe me everyone will be listening to you talk cause we are all humans and we will all related no matter social status or racial b.s.
Just because its a youtube video does not make it any less valid or damage its intelligence or argument. In fact many 'real' psychologists have been on youtube before.
klayten Jensen A lot of people take these thing for granted and don't really notice them or give them much though. At least with this video its subtle touches can be appreciated.
Why has Rick been such a successful leader up til now? By successful leader, I mean that he doesn't always seem to take charge, but the people around him always decide to put him in that position.
at one point Rick told his group its not a voting group anymore and from there on he will make the decisions, so i dont think everyone gave him the leadership role. some are forced to follow him if they want to stay with the group.
He started out in a position of authority as a police officer back in season one, where some of the conflict was the pseudo power struggle he underwent with Shane, this came to a head in Season 2. After this they had to abandon the farm, during which he openly claimed that 'this isn't a democracy anymore', and you can either get on board or hit the road. This is important because everyone immediately chooses to stay, it may not be a real choice, but psychologically, everyone has decided to follow him rather than face the threat alone, they are choosing safety over what the y might consider the right decision. Anyway, after that Rick has always been the key leader within his own group, and his own group has always been dominant in the prison and elsewhere, right up until Alexandria. At Alexandria their leader was murdered and Rick once again offered security and safety to the group, though in a less dominant fashion than before. Remember that their group were specifically recruited for being knowledgeable of the outside world, and many in Alexandria naturally deferred to their greater experience. TLDR- Rick is a natural authority figure through his job and personality, and this has been coupled with a lack of other authority figures to outright challenge him.
I hear you guys saying he proclaimed his role as leader and if they didn't like it they could leave which is true. But that was a very in the moment sitution. There are lots of moments throughout the rest of the seasons, that show it isn't about individual survival but that there is a great respect and appreciation for Rick and the choices he has made. Rick has also gone back on his word of " this isn't a democracy anymore " by continually listing to the advice of his group even when the group as a whole goes against his judgement
S7E1 Negan says "...and you can't work for me if you're dead, can you?" Later, he says "...you wind up on the spike and you work for me as a dead man." We thought he was oppressive, then we discover he is so giving that he has even figured out how to create jobs for the breathing impaired. Am I the only one who caught this?
Different scenarios bruh. Rick cant provide him "half his shit" if he and his group is dead. Daryl can "work" for Negan as a dead man by being chained to the outside gate and protecting their establishment as a walker.
Nick Venables a man and lady are riding in a train car to some place....the lady notices the man sneeze, take out his penis, wipe the tip and put it away.....a little time later he sneezes again and pulls out his penis, wipes the tip, and puts it away...after a third time the lady asks what is his deal...he explains, " I have a rare disease where every time I sneeze I have an orgasm" the lady says "that's terrible what are you taking for it?" to which the man replies.."Pepper..."
Ulaş Aldağ Yea, that's a WHOLE different subject. But put Rick and Negan alone in one room barehanded and I highly doubt Negan will have the same effect on Rick. But yea, Negan had to have certain traits to gain that spot amongst his group, but we know nothing of what that was like since we havent actually seen what he was like at the begining of the outbreak (yes comics are out there, but the show is slightly different sometimes). Rick went from a good guy cop to a complete savage. With Negan we will see the progression just backwards
GPMM213 That was only because his group were still on their knees surrounded by all thoes Saviors and if he killed Negan then all of his people would have been killed.
Dakota Vanleer Exactly. that was the whole point of taking Rick away ALONE. it was to break him even more and show him 'look, were alone and you still wont and cant do shit' but we know theres no way he can because if he does everyone including Rick is dead
@@holdentudiks9390 I thought he was talking bout that scene in Alexandria where Negan was about to kill Carl with Lucille, and he muttered "you asked me to" when Shiva ate someone and the battle happened, so my bad
Yeah I don't think Negan has the ability to affect people without violence. The implicit threat of violence was behind literally every "power move" he made. You can't honestly separate Negan's violence from his "dominance."
Yeah a lot of this requires some sort of "hold" on the person and hinges on intimidation. A lot of other more micro behaviors from his body language and the way he talks are pretty substantial as well.
4:50 "he gives his closest generals access to his wives" but the thing here is... The particular wife he is referring to is actually the REAL wife of Dwight, Sherry... Dwight got punished by having his face ironed after it is implied that he tried to help her escape from Negan who ended up forcibly marrying her. So in truth, NO Negan does NOT offer access to his "wives" to his closest generals, at least not what he's implying here. He's saying, "hey do you want to have some fun with your former wife?"
Negan didn't forcibly marry her, she chose him over her husband, and then went back to her husband, and then back to Negan. Negan is very much against rape. If you are one of his wives, you don't have to work, so women line up. Dwights wife left him for Negan, and then went back. Negan doesn't punish a wife for cheating on him, but if he cheats and comes back, he irons the face of the one she cheated with. So she knowingly had Dwights face ironed so that she could go back to Negan and not have to work. It's how he turns people against each other.
MisterSinister What? She (or was it Negan?) clearly said that Negan was going to kill Dwight but she offered herself to become Negan's wife in exchange, Negan will spare Dwight. But he ironed Dwight's face as a "lighter" punishment than death. Where did you get the rest of the information?
Charisma on Command, you are amazing and your channel has been helping me for sometime. Negan is an interesting character to talk about, but there isn't a fictional charater more charismatic than Hannibal from NBC. A video about that guy would be perfect.
The moment of realisation that we are witnessing a complete perfect villian is when you get a feeling that the villian's pov is also somewhat correct even if he does extremely nasty stuff .
It's also the same with customer service bosses. They will only talk to you when you did something wrong but never speak to you when you went the extra mile.
5:37: "you need to have clear consequences" that's so true and gives this video a solid scientific point of view. Well done! In university I also learned about leadership in psychology.
He’s so evil, people may survive in result of his system but his system still circles round to benefit him and his people only, he just uses people, I think he’d be a lot more successful getting his people to work with him out of respect and not fear. I can’t help but like him though he’s just too cool 😂
But with respect. That's when some people start to betray other people and then craziness happens. With fear, everyone will be terrified into what Negan wants. Respect will take longer as well since they don't really know him when you first meet him.
@@captaincosy Fear is easy. It might work at first but when the opportunity presents itself, people are more than likely to betray you. With respect and love people are less likely to betray. There's no guarantee betrayal won't happen but it'll happen a lot slower with love, respect and loyalty than with fear.
@@deadlysword1000 the problem is with being a leader fear gets you a bullet in the back of the head & love and respect gets you seen as weak and stepped on. I dont know why anybody would want to be a leader in the 1st place. It rarely ever lasts.
I always thought that he was a PE teacher before the apocalypse, because all the ones I ever had would definitely turn into psychopaths if zombies took over the world. I'd love to see a film or spin-off of Negan before the gang meets him.
Exactly. The wife that he was referring to, which is even worse, used to be Dwight's wife. He did this to remind him of his helplessness while appearing to be generous, yet knowing it would be too painful for him to accept, but he was very curious as to how he would refuse. It was the biggest mind game that he played because even the clear choice wasn't a clear choice.
The part about Negan that always drove me nuts was how he would say “These are the rules. Follow them, and all will be good”. Then the rules would change and leave everyone else trying to stay in line. The Saviors want half and half is whatever Negan or his underlings decide that day. That unpredictability would make it nigh impossible for me to live under his rule.
Thats what they meant by him slowly upping the game. He luls you into false sense of understanding and rules then slowly adapts them. But you will be so crushed by it all that eventually you just kinda give up and become a slave. Thats the comparison to the manson family. They knew it was wrong and bad but they still did it and they don't know why.
Think of it like this. They never really took much from lets say The Kingdom, but treated Rick's group very differently probably because of what they did to one of the Savior's outposts.
Amazing video again! Just to share: If anyone is interested in learning more about power, consider listening or reading the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. It shows 48 rules on how to control and defend from power, and the rules are immoral. ( it doesn't mean that they are good all the time )
I've been watching movies and TV shows for a long time, about 40+ years, and aside from real life monsters portrayed in movies like Hitler, the Nazi's and serial killers, Negan is easily the most unapologetically psychotic, unremorseful, intimidating, unpredictable and charismatic fictional villain that I've seen in, well, anything. That's quite an achievement. Like everyone else, seeing him take out Glenn and Abraham in such stomach-turning fashion sickened me, but I pressed on and I'm glad I did, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is astounding in this role.
Just wanna say how much this channel means to me. Just a year ago, I was that shy insecure girl in school with not much friends. Now I am the deputy head girl in an international school with good friends who have been supporting each other from day one. Thank you so much for what you and your crew have been producing and keep up the awesome effort. Love- Amreen from Dubai.
I’ve always wondered what would’ve happened if the governor was alive in this season and went up against negan. It would’ve been cool to see a war between both of there groups or all 3. Alexandria, Saviours, Woodbury.
In the lineup situation The Governor would be who Negan kills because (like Abraham) he is the biggest threat and would not have backed down. If the Governor came across Negan he would kill him immediately. The Gov wasn't fussed about breaking people and controlling them like Negan. He would see resources and kill everyone until he had them. The interesting thing would be to see them have an equal one on one chat. Both of them were extremely charismatic, there would definitely be some killer lines there.
No, there are parts of anyone you can like. For instance, Hitler. I love the way he was able to persuade so many people. Does that mean I like that he started a world war or that he killed so many in concentration camps? A resounding NO! But we are human and if we can find a way to related to another person, especially a person who is so different than ourselves that makes us a better person. Because if you can not relate to people who are different than who well then others may label you as closed minded or even racist. Besides we all know Negan is fictional character and the things he does and says are not really happening. If he did some of the things he does in the show to your family, or said some of the things to you irl, then you would probably have a different opinion of the guy but it is okay to like fictional bad guys they add drama and entertainment to the shows we watch on TV that provide us an escape from lives that may not be as exciting as we would like.
I like him but I hate him, if that makes sense. Faced with a similar situation, myself, though, I would flip the script a bit. I would break him and bend him to MY will, coercing all his little followers to fall in line when they meet a stronger personality. Or I'd die trying. Risk versus reward though. I'd rather die a hero or live a hero than live under Negan. And I honestly think Daryl's unflinching dedication to his own identity unnerves him somewhat. The tells are small, but they're there. And I'd exploit the shit out of that. ...Or die trying. :p You can like certain aspects of an enemy but still have them be your enemy. I honestly like it when that's portrayed in media - Charles vs Eric in X Men was another great example of this, imo. You liked him, but he was wrong.

Actually, he created that place with power so people stayed at that place and they wanted to be like him because he’s a understandable guy once you get to know him, so he made deals with communities and that’s how it works :D
0:00 - 3:21 So the impression I get after watching this segment is, Negan didn't choose Abraham at random; he chose him because Abraham's body language (by straightening up while Negan stood in front of him, while everyone backed down) made him a threat to Negan. @@kingleo1128 after adding Negan to Tekken 7, this line was actually used as one of his winning phrases
Don't forget to put LOL at the end of your sentence
Great, now when the apocalypse happens we're gonna get thousands of wannabe Negans
Horus and they're all going to meet a real negan eventually.
Naruto Izumi That is exactly what I was about to say. One "True" Negan will do it better than the rest.
"when" lol
T33K4Y It was already oroven that it is only a matter if time before a virus mutates and humanity is pushed to the vrink of extinction one way or another. Zombies or not.
Legendary Niwatori ok.
Some guy*
Jeremiah Kivi My point stands. They kill Negan, Saviors drop them all and Saviors win. I love Negan. They would defend him because he is carrying them through the apocalypse.
Negan is the best bad guy we have ever had. Like you hate him but you love him at the same time. And hes so good that you dont even want him to die. Lol anybody else agree.
No.
I agree. Especially after Rick pulls the “a mans word is worth something” a minute before betraying people. And Negan actually has rules and some semblance of dedication to maintaining order, no matter how ruthless and violent.
Only love here
It's like Klaus Mikaelson from the show The Originals. In The Vampire Diaries he comes off as a villian, however he starts to grow on you over time.
I don't even lovve Rick so you are really reaching deep into my anus if you are planning to find even a hint of love for Negan anywhere.
The thing is that rick is a better leader due to him actually having compassion and caring about his people and him seeing them as equal to him. There's a respect there that negan will not, and does not give.
Ricks mercy prevails over his wrath ... 😉
This video isn't about who's a better leader, it's about dominance and how to stand up to people

Go read “Here’s Negan”
I hope they give him a show
The trouble is, Neegan leaves permanent scars on his victims- meaning they have a constant reminder of his cruelty every time they look in the mirror.
I like that Negan also tells others to hold his bat multiple times. He’s making people who he knows hate him hold his most prized weapon.
Good observation!
Imagine if negan's breath stinks and he just keeps going close to everybody's face and talks

I see what you did there
Lucille: +30% critical strike rating, 100% chance on casting fear on your enemys after a killing blow
negan's ability: getting hit after a kill, you can choose a 2nd target and deliver a 1 hit kill
The Irish farmer :) he then got the bloody mess perk
Not fair to use rick as a "Looking away" example. He ALWAYS looks down and around toward everybody.
xD
yep.. i agree that its Rick's body language.. and style.. that he looks down even when he's being dominant.. and it also works well..
but the context is different..
negan tamed rick at that time.. also he was making him say thank you to himself..
clearly rick didn't wanted to say thank you to negan for stealing his food.. that's why he looked away.. because he had to.. he couldn't afford to make him angry..
that's why he looked up.. then away.. then down..
and said thankyou..

They can make an entire spinoff show on how Negan got so much power and people.

Like at the satellite station
Or when negan js with Gabriel after rick attacks Sanctuary.
This videos for me is really how to be like Negan. Best believe I'm taking notes.

Ha ha I get it: "He beat him to death; said we needed to understand, right off the BAT"!
Thats why he chose Abe, because he noticed that he was basicly challenging him.
JoeAXE Cleave Why didn't he go for Daryl?
To break him further, he would be made a martyr if he killed him. Watch 6x16 again, Abe wasn't having any of it.
I think the difference between both "challenges" is: Abraham stood up to Negan as an equal. Both had calm and didn't hesitate for a second. But the problem is that Daryl showed courage in a dumb way. He acted too emotionally. Probably that "brave moment" was what kept him alive.
He was injured, slouched over and clearly looked weak, while Abe was standing tall and staring him down
Negan didn't choose Abraham,it was random
rewatching the s6 finale made me realize why negan picked abraham, he was the only one who stood tall and stared him down
He was also the skilled fighter of the group.
6'1", but yeah
There goes my goals of wanting to be intimidating
@@damonnutting3529 Same, 5'9 :(

there are so many real psychologists out there you just have to look, this is just a UA-cam video.
Just because its a youtube video does not make it any less valid or damage its intelligence or argument. In fact many 'real' psychologists have been on youtube before.
It doesn't take someone overly intelligent to see these things. I thought a lot of this was common sense.
klayten Jensen A lot of people take these thing for granted and don't really notice them or give them much though. At least with this video its subtle touches can be appreciated.
Why has Rick been such a successful leader up til now? By successful leader, I mean that he doesn't always seem to take charge, but the people around him always decide to put him in that position.
Richy Rich he is practically the main character ... its supposed to be like that lol
at one point Rick told his group its not a voting group anymore and from there on he will make the decisions, so i dont think everyone gave him the leadership role. some are forced to follow him if they want to stay with the group.
I think Rick's probably a better leaders but Negan is just more ruthless and powerful
S7E1 Negan says "...and you can't work for me if you're dead, can you?"
Later, he says "...you wind up on the spike and you work for me as a dead man."
We thought he was oppressive, then we discover he is so giving that he has even figured out how to create jobs for the breathing impaired. Am I the only one who caught this?
Different scenarios bruh. Rick cant provide him "half his shit" if he and his group is dead. Daryl can "work" for Negan as a dead man by being chained to the outside gate and protecting their establishment as a walker.
MrSir CumsAlot it's a joke. bruh.

@@holdentudiks9390 I thought he was talking bout that scene in Alexandria where Negan was about to kill Carl with Lucille, and he muttered "you asked me to" when Shiva ate someone and the battle happened, so my bad
This is very insightful and amazing! Thank you!
Glad you like it, thanks!
Sabrina One of my favorite villians now
Even though he killed a character I really wanted not to die
Charisma on Command it doesn't make any sense to smash Glenn when he knows Rosita is a bigger threat to his power.
Henry Ward the Kosciuszko Lion How would he know that back then though?
"" I fed him spaghetti "" is the best one
The deep psychology of The Walking Dead is AMAZING!
A lot of other more micro behaviors from his body language and the way he talks are pretty substantial as well.
he admits it himself something like "youll go a lot farther with a few kind words and a swing of lucille than just a few kind words"
He actually admits this to Ezekiel later in the series This is a profoundly misconceived video
He's saying, "hey do you want to have some fun with your former wife?"
so basically he's King of the Cuckolds and he reigns suh-preme!
"He said we needed to understand right of the bat."
dat pun doe
You should do RICK Sanchez from Rick and morty next.
Tiny RIIIIIICK!
Birdperson!
What makes Negan a perfect Negan is his hip movement, and noone can make it perfect that much like Negan.
Charisma on Command, you are amazing and your channel has been helping me for sometime. Negan is an interesting character to talk about, but there isn't a fictional charater more charismatic than Hannibal from NBC. A video about that guy would be perfect.
YES
If Zombie Apocalypse ever happens, there will be 755 472 people fighting for Negan-title.
"he said we needed to understand right of the bat" litterally
The moment of realisation that we are witnessing a complete perfect villian is when you get a feeling that the villian's pov is also somewhat correct even if he does extremely nasty stuff .
I never realized that negan is a genius. I bet he was a psychologist before the outbreak
Bartman Jones that would make alot of sense
Justin Mielke pe teacher
PE Teacher and also car SALESMAN so he knew a thing or two about psychology and "convincing" people I guess.
Firsthgyhgyhuy Lastujhujhuj that's the kind of person Negan would kill.
Close! Ping-Pong champ.
Frank Underwood at some point?
YES!
Yes!!!!
Done.
Your videos on fictional characters are disproportionately better than your other content.
Cloud Strife ikr
It's also the same with customer service bosses. They will only talk to you when you did something wrong but never speak to you when you went the extra mile.
Once you realize what a joke everything is, being the Comedian is the only thing that makes sense.
Remy17 i cut myself on ur edge
I'd like to hear Jordan Peterson do a personality inventory on Negan.
I'd like to hear Jordan Peterson do a personality inventory on Jordan Peterson.
The vile eye is a great UA-cam channel. Don't think they've done Negan though
@@travis3430
I'm kind of over Negan. But I've seen many installments of Analysing Evil.
Thanks for teaching me how to be a super villain. I only needed a few pointers, and your video totally helped me out.
5:37: "you need to have clear consequences" that's so true and gives this video a solid scientific point of view. Well done! In university I also learned about leadership in psychology.
Congrats, you want a present?
@@deadlysword1000 Yeah. That's what I'm sayin.
@@deadlysword1000 the problem is with being a leader fear gets you a bullet in the back of the head & love and respect gets you seen as weak and stepped on. I dont know why anybody would want to be a leader in the 1st place. It rarely ever lasts.
I dont understand why nobody shot negans head off. Its obvious what he was doing from the get go. Fear means nothing when everybody has guns.
I always thought that he was a PE teacher before the apocalypse, because all the ones I ever had would definitely turn into psychopaths if zombies took over the world. I'd love to see a film or spin-off of Negan before the gang meets him.
that was his job
How did you know? HOW DID YOU KNOW
3:55 "right of the bat!" Lmfao you gotta love negan for his sick sense of humor!
Who else likes Negan (but not as much as Daryl)
Negan is a bad ass. favorite character now
Ralexo Vids Negans my favorite...reminds me of myself
Ralexo Vids I like Negan wayyy fucking more than stupid ass Daryl.
+Zachary Brown hey chill it's just my opinion
Ralexo Vids nothing on you. So stfu
negan never gave access to his wives, that was a test... dwight had to decline.
No, Negan was bothered by Dwight's decline and Dwight had to come up with an excuse.
......... um nope. ? Did you miss that entire episode and Negan's tendency to test people?
and did you miss when negan said "good boy" after dwight pleased him with the responses...
Dwight saw through his nice guy act because he understands how Negan operates
This was really well done, and I found it handy in writing fanfiction as I work with a Negan-like character.
Just to share:
If anyone is interested in learning more about power, consider listening or reading the 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. It shows 48 rules on how to control and defend from power, and the rules are immoral. ( it doesn't mean that they are good all the time )
"How Negan bodied everyone in Tekken 7." 😅👍
Dudes combos are insane
Charisma Breakdown of Mads Mikkelson's Hannibal?
Or Anthony Hopkins?
YES. SO MUCH YES.
Both Hannibals (especially Mads, in my opinion) are really good in terms of communication skills.
I like Hopkins voice better than Mads or might be the accent.
Yes please!
Mads Mikkelson's Hannibal is more infectious imo. Half the time when I'm thinking I hear his voice. >_>
" We needed to understand "right off the bat" " 😂😂😂😂 sounds like some shit he would say
Congrats on 600k Charlie!! :D
Is it bad that I actually kind of like Negan?
yes
Nop
You can like certain aspects of an enemy but still have them be your enemy. I honestly like it when that's portrayed in media - Charles vs Eric in X Men was another great example of this, imo. You liked him, but he was wrong.
He is my favorit now ! Not because I like what he does or he is a role model or something , But the best character ! Every second on the screen is pure gold ! He own's every scene.
negan kills abe on tv cause A) his character arc was over B) the way abes dressed and his demeanor told negan thats the backbone of this group and most likely to revolt against the saviors , the saviors dont compare to the whisperers !
the whisperers are shit.
Its slow as fuck this season we wont get to the whisperers til season 9 fuuuuuck dude
Vega Crux Abe was such a fucking boss
Chris Harvey until Negan killed their leader.
Rogue Pylon what?! negan kills alpha?
Not sure if you've ever looked at Deadwood, but, perhaps more than any other main character from the TV Golden Age, Al Swearaengen has an almost unspeakable ability to simultaneously cajole, charm, and outwit people. I would love to hear your thoughts on him. ALso, it's a hell of a show.
Swearaengen was awesome. I wish they made more seasons
Negan has an great first impression. Its the goal someone had with their first impression.
Actually, he created that place with power so people stayed at that place and they wanted to be like him because he’s a understandable guy once you get to know him, so he made deals with communities and that’s how it works :D
