I come from a country that qualifies for the US visa waiver pilot program. So I don't have the hassle of going through these interviews which can be really stressful. Been to the US three times and will be going again this year if time permits. Don't give up, do keep trying and relook into the way you answer the questions.

  • @Immigrationbiz

You must establish STRONG TIES to your home country and INTENT TO come back. By showing so many stamps and visas around the world you are automatically showing intent to leave or not stay in the home country. Second, if you are a freelancer it's not serious job enough to show ties. If you run a serious company in the home country that adds the credibility and obviously shows ties to come back. The reason of denial is really based on the several factors - age, background, skills, job, employment, career, money, family, etc. It's MUCH better to consult with the lawyer who prepares you for the interview before even going for the 1st interview to save this struggle! Make sure to pick the right person and get a short conversation before going for the interview. Also, don't be so desperate. The US don't need desperate people, on the other hand, America is based on immigrants, therefore it's about a positive mindset. Believe in yourself, and stay calm. Don't stress out during the interview. I think staying calm and collected is the second most important advice that I can give you. Good luck!

I don’t think your first point is correct. What logic would make “Stays in the home country all the time” a reliable indicator that the person will or will not return there? On the contrary, after staying anchored hitherto, a sudden desire to visit the opposite side of the earth would naturally raise suspicion of perhaps some upheaval that the person is trying to handle (failed marriage, serious crime, terminal illness, terrorism mission, job loss, imminent marriage [just kidding]).
Also, the number of visas issued by various developed countries with similar immigration policies and used properly, i.e. not overstayed, can be regarded as a track record of responsible travel without opportunistic subversion. By your logic, a person who has a hobby of touring the world would-very ironically-be “World Traveller (except U.S.-because he is a world traveller)!”
You need to show a compulsion to RETURN TO (not stay in) your home country. Financial assets that are easily liquidated or transferred don’t generate a compulsion. A spouse (travelling with you or not), minor dependents, significant investment in on-going studies, long-time career-related job, real estate as a primary residence, ... DO generate compelling trauma, emotional or financial, if abandoned.

@@JansherBanaji Don't even listen to this idiot he's just trying to promote his business, I hate these people who talk about America as if it's an all knowing God or something (now don't get me wrong politics wise they know everything) but I'm talking about the bureaucracy and the internal process. Your experience based on what you said about both interviews is the biggest proof on how arbitrary this process was and always will be. If we're gonna be logical : your first interview you should've gotten rejected for sure (sorry bro you really messed up XD); you're second interview you should've gotten it for sure you even had the perfect chance to show off your travels and your career without seeming over anxious; and your third interview you probably should've gotten rejected I mean girlfriend graduation and a question about how you guys met and no actual relevant questions isn't my idea of a very convincing reason to give out a tourist visa to anywhere really :P .. you wanna talk about a logical visa process, the UK, you don't even go to an interview and you just give your papers and if you're refused they give you the reason for refusal point by point in an essay for God's sake just so that you can know what exactly went wrong and fix it if possible. anyway thanks for sharing your experiences as they are very true and on point, I mean I know highschool dropouts here in Jordan who got it and I know engineers who didn't on their first try XD,, the US visa is in many ways like life, freaking illogical and unfair , having said that I'm glad I got it on my second try anyway better than nothing :)

I was rejected twice back in 2001 for B1/B2 but now migrated permanently . I think its not about the documents you carry. Like someone mentioned earlier, if VO asked you what places have you traveled, you responded whether she wants to see your old passport? ( Mistake 1). This shows that you think you should get US visa(over confident) just because you have travelled other countries. Also, when you describe your job, you have too many things to mention (Mistake 2: No obligation), which sounds like you don't have a stable career and may be a prospect immigrant.

Two things which I have noticed, You were too desperate to go to the US, Why I am saying that? Because you were giving too much unnecessary information, when she asked about your previous international travel, you should have just named the countries. Second thing you failed to demonstrate is your ties back home. These are the two reasons which lead to the visa officer believe that you are potential immigrant.

    • @JansherBanaji
      @JansherBanaji  7 років тому +5

Hey Robin, Your right i think i gave too much unnecessary information. But i never got an opportunity to demonstrate any ties back home.

    • @deepindersinghpuri5167
      @deepindersinghpuri5167 7 років тому +7

Jansher Banaji Don't worry, Try again and stick to previous answers only. Don't change your answers next time as they put remarks to your application after every interview. Answer only in one or two lines next time and your answer should be to the point. If your interview goes right initially they will eventually ask you about your ties.
It's generally a bit hard for Unmarried young men to get a B1/B2 visa but not impossible. Last piece of advice, don't give up. If you have a genuine reason to visit US, you will get a visa even if you are rejected twice or thrice. I have seen people getting visas after 3-4 rejections.

    • @deepindersinghpuri5167
      @deepindersinghpuri5167 7 років тому +10

Jansher Banaji Actually you did get a chance to demonstrate your ties. She asked you about your job which is basically to determine your ties back home but your answer is a bit vague to be honest. You said you do business development, you do social media and you teach students for exams. None of these sound like a stable job. These sound more like freelance jobs which you could do on the fly... I hope you get the point. Best of luck for next time.

base on my experience I noticed that the things they want to know is that if you're going for a short term vacation is the answers to the question "When are you coming back to your country?, proof of the place where you going to stay?, proof that you have a reason to come back, money that you have, your purpose and the direct and accurate answer to every questions.

Your interview answers was spot on, you did not do anything wrong.
People here saying you did not demonstrate family ties, that is on your DS160 form whatever you put on that those questions will be asked, and a little other questions if needed. Whats she puts in the system counts. Its nothing to do with officer. Now the green card Trump has made it into Australian point system.
My friend was invited to usa, the trip was for just over 4 months. Wedding, then after weddings other activities and so on. So the esta Visa was only for 3 months which was not enough. So he went to embassy, they refused him because he did not have strong family ties... fair enough.... he applied for esta visa 8 weeks before flight went to usa stayed just under 3 months came back. So its funny how officers think on B1/B2 visa he will not come back, but on esta he will.... so its the system. Now the twat has 5 years B1/B2 visa with multi entry, 6 months each stay. Even then they said you was refused B1/B2 visa, the system should of refused you esta too. Since you have been honest with me, you have been refused under 214g today, gave his passport back with refusal letter, but kept his documents for further checks by Homeland security in usa, its called administration processing, after 7 months he gets an email for him to send his passport to the embassy. His passport came back with 5 years visa with multi entry 6 months stay.

Also it doesnt hurt to get professional advice before for going for the actual interview. Try and also decide what you're end goals are for coming to the US...best of luck! Mistake 1: you gave her your passport rather than telling her , she already has the record of places u have been . this gives rise to suspicion.
Mistake 2: you mentioned multiple jobs that u do which tells that you don't have a stable career and which makes you fit in category of immigrant.
Another mistake was u said shopping , I mean really ? you are not a billionaire who goes to countries for shopping are u ? you should say travelling to multiple places
and having all documents don't make u eligible for travelling visa

I got rejected my E2 visa once after I attended a visa interview at the old Consulate in London. The second interview I was approved and now live in Pasadena CA. The first interview was quite a dismal one. I get called up to the woman to hand the documents. She was friendly asking for the police certificate and DS156E to hand. I didn’t have the right photo to hand so I had to get my picture retaken and asked to come straight back. Afterwards I waited for 30 mins in the hall and then attended my second interview. The bloke asked me a few simple questions to verify my application such as I see you have a degree and when it was awarded. In 2010. Then he began to ask some much more difficult questions about how much I was paid for previous jobs I had done and also assumed I didn’t know anyone in the USA and if I did have contracts and it was so hard to get clients if you’re not in the US. I had my office set up, bank account set up and website going and investments made but no way of directing while being present. Also I had a caution for a “summary offence” which he held against me as an excuse. After 5-10 minutes he came to the conclusion of rejecting my visa. So I was denied right there, I had to secure clients and hire someone over Skype. I re-applied a year later at the new embassy and it went successful. It took like forever but managed to get my E2 visa.

@@dammitchi2236 yes it is painful. I already moved on and forgot about it. What I'm doing right now is travelling around Asia and enjoying my life. Don't mind those consuls because karma is real. Just enjoy your life. US VISA is not important.

@@pinoy_pageants I don't even care about the money I wasted, I can get it again. I just didn't expect the level of humiliation and disappointment. And the way the consulate treated me just leAves a bad taste in my mouth. Maybe because this was extremely recent so I'm still not over it and can't stop thinking about it.
and yeah fuck America, but what sucks is that apparently the five major developed countries (UK, US, Australia, I forget the other two) share visa refusal information so when I apply for, say, Aussie visa, I will HAVE to state that I've been denied a US visa before and that will be a minus point. And I can't lie because like I said, they share information and they will know if I lie. I hate this. It's like I've been blacklisted and put in a specific category that nobody wants to be in. Makes you feel like you're a second class citizen. Yuck.

The reason why your visa got rejected is because you gave a wrong reply for the question she asked which made her feel you were being mean. She asked you where all you have travelled? And what was your reply? " Rather than me telling you that...." Here it is! You cannot give options to the Officer. Follow the instructions exactly they ask you. You made her feel that you are not willing to answer to the question she asked and want to do things your way. US embassy is not a place to show attitude. Sometimes we need to humble ourselves in certain places to get our things done. Dont be offended. Just told you what i felt putting myself in that officers shoes.

it is not your mistake, they, consuls, i guess, put all applicants into stereotypes, and proceed with strong background bias. i really can't believe just because of your lack of language or some irrelevant issue they reject you.
today also i was rejected. i slept late last night and i was very tired and dull to be smiling and cheerful with the consul. and she or he did not like my mood, so she denied me the visa. i can't believe this process being so simple and just on the tongue of some one who may live in a dream world. anyway, next time be simple and sure with your answers, and never use i guess, maybe, or something that may trigger some reaction in his brain.
my question, is for you, folks, does anybody know or have and idea, at the end what is the ratio of the role of consuls and investigation (if done!) about the applicant?
if only consul decides the outcome, then it is very wrong, cause it is impossible to read the minds of people in such a short time with simple, standard questions. and just rejecting people because of suspicion is not fair.

Hi there - Jansher ! ...... In my opinion, the reason WHY they denied you a u.s visa twice could be because you are an indian. A lot of indians from india - when they do get approve for a TOURIST visa, they violates the rules and conditions of the visa given much too often. due to that the u.s rarely wants to give visas to your nationals . I know of many indians friends who have done just that; Now that trump is president their future in this country are uncertain. Best thing you should do is to continue travelling to other countries and gather as much foreign visas as possible to show that you continuously have travelling experiences and that you always leave the countries travels when the time allows comes. Before you try again, i advise you to wait 5 years - otherwise you may be barred from applying for a term of 5 years . ( which you don't want ) in the meantime try CANADA, SOUTH AMERICA........... I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST !

I understood what happened wrong with you. As you started explaining so many jobs you do in India, she got doubt that you can manage to do job in US too while on visitor visa. Or also that you are telling lies by mentioning so many jobs. You would have mentioned any one good job from which you were earning more. No one can do so many jobs on daily basis. You may not be doing them all on regular basis but on regular intervals which you mentioned as if you are doing them daily which is impossible for anybody to do. So only your visa rejected. Job means only one good job at a time. Not keeping feet on two boats together.

Income is THE main point of your success for a US Visa.
If you're travelling with dependents then I believe it plays a higher role. Maybe your mom was a dependent and hence with your low income, you may have been rejected.

Income has got nothing to do with it. I applied again and got my visa. They did not ask for my income or bank statements or anything. Cause is the main reason you get it or you don't. I know many Jewlers who are beyond rich that have gotten rejected.

Jansher Banaji I also heard they also have a quota system. They aren't supposed to approve everyone's visa. Something like only 60% of the visas get approved. That's what my elder brother told who currently stays in US with a F1 visa. Luck also plays a major role.

Thank you for your Blessings Brother, i have appeared for an interview on 16 October and got my visa however what i have observed what lead us to a positive result is :
      1. confidence "not about getting visa' but about your profile irrespective of what an outcome will be. it should not look like that we are craving for visa.
      2. income statement has to be good which they analyze by your last tax returns so we should have good tax returns irrespective of the balances in the bank account.
      3. social ties social media now a days is very active however at the same time it can reveal a lot of personal information to public so they can scrutinize any time.
      4. Reasoning: your reasons to come back plays an important role in the process of your application, which is not what you just said at the time of interview in fact, how it is synchronized with your d160 and other social ties.
i think this information can be helpful to others
      thank you once again

To me you sound you don't know want to answer questions, defensive, unrelaxed, arrogant in your behaviour and answers, and showing off which takes the focus of you as if you have something to hide. Negative energy comes from your answers and you. This harms your Visa outcome. I went to the U.S as a student. Now have a green card so fast.
You are supposed to pray for positive outcome before you apply for Visa. You must know your answers about why you want to go to America. Then pray for positive outcome again during interview and after that. 30 mins before your interview, you are supposed to study people being interviewed in the same room as you to get a feel on how hard embassy officer questions are and start answering them while staying calm. At the time of interview, you are supposed to look Innocent, look around, answer questions with simple sentences, no explanation beyond simple sentences answering their questions. This worked for me and I barely moved a finger.

    Hello,
Here i am sharing my experience with Visa interview.
I am a freelancer and i was working for a client who is from USA and he invited me there for a meeting and sent me invitation letter and all the supporting letters. I was confident that i will be going to get the visa and went the embassy and i was the first one to interview.
VO : why you want to travel USA ?
me : I am going for meeting
VO : what do you do ?
me : i am a freelancer and i work online on electronic related projects.
VO : Sorry what type f projects ?
me : Embedded system programming , computer programming.
VO: where you will be staying ?
    me : i told them.
She start typing and after a minute she said i am sorry you did not qualified for the visa and when she was typing i was very confident that i am going to get visa but somehow it turns to be opposite . The meeting is in JUly , should i reapply or what should i do now ?

How are you related to that girl? If she has no Family, Whom is she trying to visit in the US? If you are trying to do a social service by getting that girl to US, Then it's impossible under "B" Visa Category. Because clearly, She has immigrant intent. Better option would be to file a petition for her to the USCIS and get her a Immigrant visa which can lead to Green card.

No, please don't apply the next day. By the way, there is a non-refundable visa fee. Don't act desperate or you will rise suspicion for the visa agent. Also, don't glamorize America. It is a great place. This is just by what foreign friends have told me. If you tell, OH America is jut below heaven, they are going to think you are planning to overstay your visa. Also say you have strong ties back home, like direct family, rent, job, etc. You want to prove that you are coming back and not staying. Lastly, and this is for many kinds of interviews and even police interrogation, don't give out your life story. The brief when you answer questions, obviously, don't lie or deceive. If you get rejected, most times is because you may lack funds to cover your visit. Thing like that. I would wait 3 months, I am guessing. I've seen TV shows covering this stuff. Do your research.

Don't apply US visa. If rejected once, very very less chances of getting it anytime in future cause they keep all references. Also, you will not get visa for Canada, UK and Australia like other beautiful countries if you are rejected by US. These countries get this information when US rejects you. So better go these countries and avoid going to USA

I'm 99% sure it's your salary that's too low. You should need to earn atleast $30,000 a year (bare minimum) as a single unmarried male unless you're a minor, dependent on your parents.Unfortunately As a single indian male, you're an immigration threat in their eyes. Apply when you're married or your financial situation changes. Married persons travelling without their spouse are generally granted visas even with lesser finances.

Hey Jack, They did not even bother to see my documents leave alone proof of how much i earn!

Yea, but they did ask you how much you earn right? They don't look at documents much. They can't in 2 minutes. US visa officers are graded not by how many visas they grant or refuse, but by how fast they make a decision. That's the only reason I can find why they refused it.
If you recall , both the interviews might have been going well until they asked you about your job and salary. I'm guessing they gave you the 214b form that's worded vaguely. They don't directly tell people why they're refused, so they apply again thinking they'll be approved, but it's refused and they keep making money. It's a vicious cycle. I'm guessing you were a student when you got your previous visa and were dependent on your parents. The conditions are a bit different now since you're an adult. I see that you have no intentions of illegally staying in the US, but another quick application will make you seem desperate to enter the US in their eyes. They're quite paranoid.
So don't apply again unless your financial situation changes or you're married.

Also there's little to compel you to come back if you did decide to overstay there. You could easily marry a us citizen & then adjust status there (in their eyes). So they want you to have a solid reason to come back (a good job would be one)

Thank for this advice it really help and makes a lot of sense. I will be applying again very shortly. My Fiancee is studying there and i want to see her and make it for her graduation ceremony. Other than that i have no reason to go there and do not intend on marrying a US Citizen.

You are probably right and wrong. One of my friends who is also an unmarried male had his US visa interview which didn't last even 4 minute. He got it first time! BUT he is an English teacher working permanently in Sri Lanka. His salary is around $25,000 per annum. The reason you got your visa rejected is probably because of NOTHING but the nature of job rather than earnings and bank balance. They are NOT interested in your savings BUT nature of job and earnings. One has to have a permanent job that pays him a decent fixed salary in order to qualify US visa.
