- Like a Dragon Ishin is out in just a couple more weeks and thanks to Sega I got the chance to play a bit of the game early! Here's what I thought about about 2 hours in the game's early segments.
I still remember when me and my best friend discovered the existence of this game when it was still exclusive to Japan. Wishing we can play it, so watching this video made me that much more excited since it’s finally here! So happy to see you got to play it for a bit. Great video! Proud of you, Kevin!

@@paul-nj1ig nah bro i already looked, buying the deluxe edition digitally is probably the only way since i always prefer physical copys so i wanted to buy one but there was no options for a physical deluxe edition. It sucks, but at least im getting to play it next week so i think i can live with it lol
@@KrPa9781 When Y7 came out in the west, a lot of people were getting their physical pre-orders delivered to them earlier than the digital deluxe. Seems like physical copies are more of a gamble, but you *could* get it early.

The crafting tree, at least visually, reminds me of Monster Hunter! Which is very exciting. The fact that you said that Yakuza 0 seems to be the basis for this game is amazing; I was hyped about this game, now we have entered omega-level hype! :D

I wanted to help give this one a head start and thought y'know what? sure lol. It's funny too, the early watch time on this vid def shows a few people showed up just to see no beanie then leave, plenty of other folks sticking around though which is great!

I've actually been really heavily debating that! TTRPGs are definitely near and dear to my heart, but honestly I just haven't thought of what I'd want to do for them from a content creation standpoint hah.
I've been hyped for this game for a long time. I like the fact that the card system & number data are wholly optional. I adore the setting, my only slight gripe is that I wish it embraced the Japanese Samurai movie traditions like Hanzo The Razor, Lone Wolf & Cub and Zatoichi (the Shintaro Katsu interpretation, I like Beat Takeshi but he just isn't Zatoichi) and adopted a far bloodier aesthetic but then again you can't have everything.

This is a game I've been looking forward to for a while now. I own the original on Ps4 and tried to play it with a guide but it was too hard to follow without the full translations. Glad it's getting a official localized release for the west.

i literally cant wait until this game comes out! i remember playing it at my step dads house not knowing japanese so i just did whatever until either the story progressed or i asked him what i had to do lol it'll be nice to finally know what's going on hahaha
omg that's amazing! I knew of the original but have never gotten the chance to play it, after getting into Yakuza I dreamed of this getting ported and am so hyped this remake is happening.
Even tho this is coming out and I'm gonna 100% it and beat on every difficulty hard and up (heard there's a new ishin difficulty!) I'm probably gonna end up getting a PS4 and getting the original ported over eventually. But for now Ishin releases this Friday and I can't wait

Awesome! I think this one's gonna be a good place to start (will know better once it's fully out), though I'd also heavily recommend checking out Yakuza 0 if you get the chance, incredible game.
Get ready for the journey, it's an amazing one and they're amazing considering the price, they almost always are on sale and they only cost like 6-8 dollars, definitely some of the best content packed games and easily one of my top game series I've played. I started with Fist of the north star Lost Paradise cuz I was a fan of the anime series, loved it, and started the main series with 0 when the Baka Mitai meme was going around, figured I'd get it just because the meme was funny, and the game was amazing.

Looks really good, Kevin. I'm curious: With fighting styles, do you get to change them on the fly mid-battle like in Ghost of Tsushima or is it selected outside of battles similar to JRPG's?
judging by the original and the other yakuza games, you do it on the fly :)
Awesome, thanks! I rewatched and it looks like there’s a four-way selector on the HUD that shows which you’re using, so that’s my guess, too, that it’s on the fly. Super cool idea; Loved that aspect of Ghost of Tsushima.
on the fly! the four styles are available at all times and all you have to do is tap one of the 4 directions of the dpad for which one you want. Bottom left of the HUD shows which ones are mapped where.

Not into feudal era gameplay but love the yakuza franchise so I don't think I will be disappointed.
If anyone wants to see late game gameplay i reccomend searching it up casue this vid doesnt do much justice for how incredible the combat is
yeeeeeah, only so much I could learn/remember on the fly since it's been a bit since my last non Dragon Engine RGG game, plus it was early game so a lot of late games moves and abilities weren't available yet. Can't wait to go more hands on with the full version later this month

Such a slow past few months then boom , Hogwarts , this , wild hearts , wanted dead , just to name a few. Insane.
Judgment, especially Lost Judgment, really shouldn't be compared to mainline RGG as it's a spinoff on it's own with it's own combat identity IMO. OG brawler RGG games have always been more methodical in execution and less about what LJ brought to the table. This game definitely has it's own identity as well that sets it apart from all the other games so I'd say literally take it 'as it is' and don't go in with 'other game' expectations at all.

I've been interested in Ishin since it released in Japan, I just never imported it. I loved the way of the samurai series, so seeing Ishin come to the west was BIG for me. I liked Yakuza games, but not as much as I liked way of the samurai.

That's what I said. Yakuza is an immersive game. Seeing those numbers completely took me out of experience witnessing that. Guess this was when they were making their rpg transfer?

I would say for the current price of the game, I wouldn't pick it up but hopefully down the line when sales hit, it would definitely be a perfect time to pick up Ishin. Honestly tho, can't wait for it. Completed all the games now I just need more to just satisfy the Yakuza thirst 😂

My question is this. I'm not completely sold on combat: Does it have a parry/dodge system...you know...something actually technical? Because everything else looks amazing, but if the combat is simply "mash mash mash" I'll have to pass on it.

hah, it's a remake of a PS3/4 title, and it's releasing versions across both current gen and this past gen so it's targeting a little older. Overall still looks solid though and the gameplay is awesome so far!

It's going to be exciting to fight against Amon of this game, in original it was not easy and required a lot of focus as he'd pull out moves very unknown to you.
I never got a chance to play the original, excited to know there'a another Amon fight though as there should be hah. Can't wait to see all the later game content

@@FunLobsterFacts Even though I'm still playing and finishing Kiwami 2, at the same time I've started to play through the ones I've already beaten, trying to make them harder and thus more enjoyable, starting with 0, only using 1 style in the ones with multiple styles, never upgrading, on Legend. The plan is to beat it 3 times Using brawler and thug, rush and breaker, then beast and slugger. Kiwami 1 4 times with those 4 styles, then Kiwami 2, 5, Lost paradise. I'm excited to do Ishin no upgrades only using brawler considering most enemies use swords, so not a lot of blocking will work.
Edit - For what it's worth, I forgot to mention I beat every boss in the story, including the ones you're supposed to lose, example being Mr. Shakedown in 0, first Majima fight in Kiwami 1, etc.
Been playing the original on hard, from my experience it's one of the hardest in the series.
Enemies take a lot more advantage, when you have your back turned and alongside bosses generally deal much more damage, seeing as they're usually carrying weapons.
The game is also less generous with checkpoints during long battles and there's also much less healing items if any at all during them.
