This was like her 3rd release maybe. Her debut was 1,2,3,4 in 2012 and was really good. She won a show and got a contract with YG, and then got screwed over. She's 96 line (September 23rd) so she was about 17 when this dropped.
She was the runner up. Jamie was the winner and chose JYP. YG chose Lee Hi

@@fortunamajor yep she had to wait 3 years for a new comeback after Rose, which was Breathe and it was really successful (she achieved an all kill with that song for example) but despite its success she had to wait another 3 years for a new comeback. Also there's really been a lack of appearances on variety and radio shows while she was in YG. They wouldn't let her join those even though she herself expressed how she wishes to go on more.
Lee Hi did a performance of this song on Begin Again Korea and it made me fall in love with her voice. Also Breathe by Lee Hi is my personal favorite and the lyrics were written by Jonghyun (Rest in peace) very comforting song
The MV is so beautiful, wow. The way everything is mostly white with pops of colour in every scene. It's all gorgeous. And her voice is so soothing too despite the sad lyrics. With her expressions, it almost seems like she's accepted these sad feelings. I really love this MV.
Her debut song, "1.2.3.4" is really good as well so maybe that one next time? 😊
Lee Hi is the Rose, the soldiers are symbolizing those who are trying to get to her be it in a romantic way or in a platonic way. BUT she always try to protect herself and warning this person that doesn’t want to get too involved. They are soldiers of love and friendship trying to get to Lee Hi, but they bleed...she bleeds and they hurt each other. It wasn’t Lee Hi holding the roses, it was one of the soldiers that got hurt by getting to close to her.
A lot of people were surprised when Lee Hi came out with this song and MV because they were so used to jazzy, sassy, and cute Lee Hi when she debuted in 2012. But in Rose she was very chic and mature even though she was only 17 at this time. It was a pleasant surprise though, Lee Hi has gotten more natural on camera and confident. Which make sense cuz she was still just a baby..a teenager with amazing vocals..who was still shy and awkward in her debut year. So Rose was basically Lee Hi maturing and becoming confident in herself..also I LOVE RAPPING LEE HI!!!

I love Lee Hi. She is one of those who is so unique and I always look out for her. My fav is "breath" written to her by Jonghyun from Shinee and it just touches my soul. I hope you have a chance to watch that one too

You should listen to Lee Hi's recent acoustic live version of Rose (5 years later). It is way more mature and I personally think it's better than the studio version.
