Superstitions are not universal. I've taken a Portuguese flight with a row 13. In Italy I believe it's Friday the 17th for example. It depends on the country. I believe that Friday the 13th is mostly tied to English speaking countries.

When I was about 5 or 6 I was playing “modeling” with one of my cousins. I had this really cute blue and green Winnie the Pooh umbrella that I loved. My cousin suggested I get said umbrella. I grabbed it but it’s still closed. She tells me to open it and I reply that that’s bad luck. She scoffed and made me feel dumb for believing that. So against my better judgement I open the umbrella (we’re in my room playing this at like 2 or 3am) and for a hot minute we were actually having fun with it, taking turns holding it. Well I was holding it when it flipped inside out and one of the hinges snapped on it. So when we managed to unflinching it, it was broken and wouldn’t open or close correctly anymore. I refuse to open any umbrella inside as that has stuck with me my whole life.
Having my daughter made me learn to love myself, also. I transitioned to my natural 4c hair because I realized I couldn't teach my daughter to love herself if I didn't love myself.

My due date is September 13th (which happens to fall on a Friday). My doctor asked if I wanted to have the date changed like a day or two and I told him no. Haha. I am just not superstitious.

i just want to say that as someone with health issues, skinny shaming really, really hurts. i’ve been overweight, and i’ve been underweight. when i was underweight, i felt less of a woman. my breasts shrunk, my beautiful ass shrunk, and people would always tell me to “eat a sandwich.” people were meaner to me, like it was my fault. people don’t even realize they do it. i’m sorry loni, but you’re wrong for doing that. we shouldn’t body shame, periodt.

I feel like everybody is very much insecure about SOMETHING... so I think we as people should be mindful of what we say that can trigger their feelings to be hurt... I know for me I always think before I speak and say to myself “ how will what I say make this person feel”... there are some people that do come from a good place when they are concerned about their friend , partner or family’s weight... but it’s the delivery that makes it different... I always say it’s not what you say , it’s how you say it !

Jeannie is so right about mothers fat shaming their daughters. My mom fat shamed me when I was literally a size 0. She had her own insecurities and projected them onto me. I spent entire summers as a child refusing to wear shorts because of my mothers’ words and I’m still insecure about what she said.

I can vouch for that. My mother all her life hated the way she looked (had several plastic surgeries and body dysmorphia.) and always made sure to shame me on how I looked and point out my flaws and weight. Stuck with me until this day now being 22. I’ll never forgive her for the way she made me feel and think of myself . Could never set that example for my child.
One time a childhood friend of mine mentioned my thighs and I was going through a lot…. Wrong timing. I saw her looking me up and down as I was talking… I didn’t speak to her for almost 3 years… whether I’m skinny or whatever. She always had something to say about my body. I’m like Jesus Christ. Stop paying attention to me. I didn’t say anything about those rolls on her back, now did I 😐🤔.
Her mother was always saying things about her body and calling her fat etc. I told her. You realize you’re doing the same thing to me. And her shape,s he had no hips and she was out of shape. But just two months prior when she came to visit me, she said oh that’s how you get your butt that high, because I was speed walking. She said stay that weight, that’s a good weight for you, don’t gain or lose.
I’m like excuse me? As women our body weight fluctuates. WTF?!! Stay that way… you haven’t. I’m like dang, I’m haven’t seen you in a few years and as soon as I see you, my body weight has to be a topic. I had a guy tell me I should lose five pounds, not 1,2,3,4 but five pounds 😐 he was like I’ll be be able to see your cheek bones more. Apparently he liked women with high cheek bones and mines wasn’t high enough. But we weren’t even dating. He was my old teacher and wanted to date me and he was attracted to me.
Anyway, I’m single and I don’t have to worry about no muthafn body 😂😂 worried about my weight or hating ass jealous friends. I relocated to another state to start over and get away from toxic people. They all miserable and out of shape in their own marriages. Lol. I grew up in a house where my father abused my mother every day and was always calling her names and I lost her at 14 and she was 39. All the things he said and did that broke her spirit and eventually broke her heart and she had a heart attack. He was always disrespecting her in front of us. Imagine hearing the word fat and fart and whore and B and other disgusting words everyday all day and night.
She would leave but he puked find us just to abuse her. It’s like he got off on It. He was addicted to abusing her and breaking her down and us. He used to say things about my body all the time. No father should do that. Every time I hear people bullying or fat shaming or whatever I take it personal. I can’t stand it. I hate it with a passion. I get so tired of men saying things and women too. Like stop worrying about my body. You looking real hard to notice a change in my body and I hate attention.

Does anybody ever always run into something weird on Friday the 13th... for some reason one year I saw two skunks at 6AM in the morning on both sidewalks so I walked in the middle of the street 😂 I know they have rabies or something if they are out this early... and then after that I crossed the path of a black cat... luckily nothing extremely bad happens on that day lol

Unpopular opinion: Fat shaming is HORRIBLE but we’ve been made aware and being curvy is IN. No one ever talks about the EXTREME amount of skinny shaming. It’s absolutely depressing. People constantly mention my weight and constantly tell me I need to eat more. It’s just as disrespectful!

This is so old but i feel the need to say, the topic they were talking about towards the end is so important. I am suffering with anorexia and i baby sit this 10 year old girl, who is my mums friends daughter. she was completely obsessed with me and would wear all my hand me downs i gave her. she would hear my mum and hers talking about me being in hospital, and yesterday she said, ‘when i’m 14, i want to have anorexia and go to the hospital like anastasia’ and it broke my heart. no child, whether they understand what they’re saying or not, should have those thoughts in their head.
