That's why I deleted my Instagram. Ever since that day, I've never felt happier and contented. There is really a sense of freedom after leaving Facebook and Instagram permanently.
꧁JEFF꧂ I still have both I just don’t care what people think. I’m 46 and once you hit 40 my friends would always say you won’t care and it is so true. I learned that before 40 too and those that talk about you are not really your friends and why care? Some people do say they feel that freedom like you say. I keep my circle small and they are only people I know trust and want to talk to my family and friends.

People were already insecure IG just exposed it! Filters are too much people are putting them on the babies too smh.
I feel weird about people posting pics of babies on insta. Like they deserve their privacy and there are pedos online.
Plus I dont care to see your baby everyday. I dont care if Billy pissed you off this morning (people rant on insta about their kids a lot). If we were close enough you would send me pics of your baby or we would hang out and I can see him in person.

I add my kids pictures on Facebook to save them. So they don't take up my space on my phone. My friends enjoy seeing my kids 🤷

Yep, I quit it but mine was for personal reasons that affected my peace of mind. Plus not wanting others to validate me.

Self esteem and confidence is blind. It doesn't care what you look like. It doesn't come from the outside, it comes from within. Doesn't really matter your level of conventional beauty

Idk.. I personally feel like some people settle for what they can get when they aren't attractive themselves. They might like a person who isn't considered conventionally attractive, but I think if given the opportunity, they'd jump at it. Call it shallow but humans are visual creatures at the end of the day.

I definitely felt a lot better after I left Instagram and Snapchat. I couldn’t take pictures with my actual phone camera for a while. Instagram is toxic.
Instagram is just a place for people to crop out all the sadness. I also think the likes and positive comments can be toxic too. Honestly just because someone liked your photo doesn't mean they truly "like" it. It's sometimes a greed of like for likes which subconsciously makes us post more. People will use social media to gas you up which can make you arrogant rather than humble so you're just constantly trying to impress your followers because you think they have certain expectations of you like you have a fan base or something. It's sad.

I never post anything on social media but I have soooooo many photos on my phone. That I love. I'm just not comfortable with it being out there.
Don't even put it out there because you will regret it later. This is your humble nature, which is good. Sure, taking pictures can be fun - but leave it at that. No need to associate yourself and your contribution to society with some selfies. Agree

VANITY is what makes s person to be constantly interested in their reflection, to the extent that other things seem less important. You being attractive does not mean the world needs to stop, conversations end and movement halts .

I’m fat depending on the angle I might have a double chin and I still think I’m fine AF sooooooo I can NOT relate. Okay I’m one of the people who stare at myself in the reflections 🤷🏽♂️. I like the teaching kids proper dating techniques, having a teenager who’s dating we monitor all the dates to teach them how to respect each other. I approve!
Instagram is where you post the “ good side” of your life anyway... but let’s not lie... sometimes we use filters and stuff...I know people who say “ I’m a natural beauty... “ yet most of the time I see them wear makeup 24/7 both in real life and on IG... and it’s like... i feel like if the makeup makes you feel good , do you boo! Same thing with the filters... I’m not gonna judge... do whatever makes you feel good !
Myronn Coleman half the time the people claiming to be “natural beauties” or “rarely wearing make up” do the opposite they always have weaves/ hair extensions filters and make up why not just do you without feeling embarrassed? I don’t wear much make up and therefore often look ‘natural’ but I won’t deny wearing make up often I put on eyeliner nearly 5/7 days of the week. I can do without it as I look almost the same when I don’t put it on but I don’t want that I will wear it and OWN THAT

The thing is EVERYONE can look gorgeous with the right make up, right clothes for your body type and skintone etc, filters and all that. The pressure we feel is needing to look that way all the time. That's the problem! I can look awful and I can look gorgeous that ppl can't believe it's me sometimes. It's normal and ok.
Mental health is important and Instagram and other editing apps can most definitely effect ones self esteem. Too many of us are relying on filters etc to feel good and out ourselves. There needs to be a balance. Everyone is fighting to be perfect. It’s a fight no one will ever win.

Instagram can make a girl feel like she has to look a "particular way" in order to be pretty. And then they want reassurance that they look pretty, in the form of likes and comments. I struggle with that sometimes to be honest, but I try to remind myself that I'm beautiful, even if I have some flaws, that's what makes me unique and that goes for every other girl

I’ve always been the one to check every reflection I notice of myself ever since I was as young as 5 years old, and my mom has always pointed it out. It used to be because I wanted to make sure I looked presentable, but now it’s because I wanna see how cute I look. The power of building a great self esteem and loving the person you see in the mirror. 🧡

THIS IS SOOO TRUE!!! Social Media can really mess with your self/esteem and self-confidence. It’s the first module in my ‘Becoming The One’ course that I tackle, which helps women truly attract and maintain a healthy and loving relationship.
So they said it was fine to use filters then went on for 5 +minutes to argue that filters and the pursuit of perfectionism is a problem.

My phone camera ruins my self esteem. In the mirror I look okay, in film photos I look okay but photos taken on a phone camera? My face is a different shape and it makes my nose look even wonkier. It gets me down but then I remember I’ve got a boyfriend that loves me and wouldn’t change a thing about the way I look - wobbly bits and all. I dont use any filter apps or face tune, just regular filter on the color of the pic. I'm all authentic baby, you get what you get.

I try to use Instagram in a healthy way, I dont follow anyone I know nor do I post pictures of myself I just look at things I enjoy and honestly coming across beautiful people motivates me to be a bit healthier, and lose weight (through exercise)

I think instagram can cause low self esteem if you let it, but the reality is everything you see on there isn’t always real, people post what they want you to see. I don’t think people should take social media too seriously and should love themselves and not let other people’s post affect their lives.
