This was a pretty tough build, but I'm happy with the result. What did you think of it?
Looks amazing. :)
One question: is it supposed for the sword hanger fittings to be on the edge side?
@@martimhenriques1169 it was cast from an authorized replica, so it’s correct. Thanks for watching.
Awesome piece of functional art, truly amazing.

Hopefully that's all you'll see for this video 😏
Another great build! 👍💪
As a retired USN Corpsman, this literally gave me chills and a lump in my throat when you did the reveal. This would be perfectly at home in the GW Captain’s quarters reverently displayed on the bulkhead (that’s wall for the non-sailor types). Might be my favorite thing you’ve ever made.
Thank you for your service and for watching! ❤️
As a fellow Corpsman I agree wholeheartedly! This would have made all my Marines extremely jealous.
Very nice job! As a retired Chief Petty Officer, I'd love to see a CPO's Cutlass.
I considered that one. Maybe I’ll attempt it some day. Thanks for your service and for watching!
As a US Navy veteran I must say that any officer would be extremely proud to carry that amazing work of art. A truly remarkable build.
Thanks for your service, Gary. And for taking a look at this build.
I am a Navy Vet. I was stationed in VF-11 in 1986 for the Med cruise onboard the USS Forrestal. This has got to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen! 100% Go Navy
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking a look. Thank you for your service.
The Thing i Like about this Channel is they Go into More Dwtails about the Steps in the Process more than Most othsr Videos.
I'm glad the explanations and detail are helpful! Thanks for watching!
That is a beautiful blade! And the fact that is was made from a part if one of the USN's vessels just adds to it!
Thanks for taking a look, James!
A beautiful sword, worthy of the ship it's made from, and the officers and sailors it represents
Also, thanks to your son for his service
Thank you for watching, Ramon!
Thank you for posting this awesome build. I have missed seeing more of your build videos, but your informational TTT videos are great. As a retired Navy Chief, I found this build inspiring and close to my heart. It turned out amazing.
Thanks for checking it out, and thank you for your service. 🙏
As a Navy Officer and a fellow bladesmith who was on the episode of Forged in Fire where the final weapon was this sword, I can only say Holy Crap!
Thank you for your service, and for checking out this build!
CVN - 69 was my 1st command 06/1990 - 10/1994 great to see the ship again. Outstanding build!
Thank you for your service and for taking a look at this build!
arresting cable is no joke!
So envious you got this from USS Eisenhower!!!!!
Great build
They just toss these cables overboard every 6-9 months. I could have gotten more I think. Thanks for watching.
Great job! I served in the Marine Corps and on ship, I learned sword manual(ceremony) using a Naval Officer Sword. Semper Fi. Thank you for making it to USN specs! Any thoughts on making the USMC NCO Sword? The major difference, our enlisted sword, has a curve
I thought about the NCO cutlass, as well as the Mameluke sword. Since I had the cable from the Eisenhower I figured I better stay USN on this one. 😉
Wow! What an awesome sword! It really turned out! Thanks again Dennis!
Thanks for checking it out, Stephen!
Wonderful build Denis! The Sword came out beautiful, and is an awesome tribute to all Naval Officers! Thank you so much for sharing. 💯😎👍🏻🔨🔥🔪⚓🇺🇸
Thank you very much!
Absolutely beautiful. Being Navy Hull Tech, it really amazed me.
Thanks for your service, Richard. And thanks for taking a look at this build.
Beautiful man!!! Ridiculously beautiful!!! 💪
Thanks for checking it out!
Beautiful work as always my friend!
Thank you! Cheers!
Denis, I have been waiting for this buold ever since you initially teased it. It came out beautifully and really gave me some insight as to what I want to do when I make the savber for my father. Thatnk you for taking such great care and reverence with this build.
Thanks for following along on this one. It’s probably the toughest grind I’ve ever done so take your time! Thanks for watching.
Wow what a perfect blade!!
Thanks for watching, Armen!
Great build! That thing looked like a real PITA to build.
Ha, it certainly was at times. Thanks for watching.
Such a challenging project
Well done sir...👏 👍
Thanks for checking it out!
Perfect job man
Thanks for checking it out!
I served 10 years on active duty in the USAF before I was medically retired. I left as an NCO but I never managed to get an NCO sword before I got out…. Lord knows I can’t afford one now. I actually tried to find a Used USMC NCO sword for my brother-in-law to give to him when he had his promotion ceremony this past year but just couldn’t swing it. It was a cool ceremony for him though, his father, a retired USAF SNCO &his sister who served 6 years in the Air Force as well pinned his rank on. That was a really cool thing for the family memory for sure. My wife actually teared up a bit when he asked her. She knew it was him honoring her service just as much as his own promotion. I would still like to get my own NCO sword one day though. I know it has little meaning to most, but it’s something I can use to tell my son stories about what his dad did in the military a decade before he was born. I’d love to have been able to take him to work with me just once. So he could see me less like his old disabled dad that can’t do any fun stuff…
These certainly are symbols more than actual weapons. Thank you sir for your service and for your family’s service. Thanks for watching.
Wow. What a huge project - and what a gorgeous result.
Wonderfully crafted! :)
Thanks so much! 😊
As a retired US Navy officer I would love to have this!
Thanks for watching, Luke! And thank you for your service.
@@TyrellKnifeworks planning on donating it to the Ike wardroom? That would be major kudos for your son during the next round of evals.
@@lukeolinger6000 haha, not this one. It’s up for sale.
@@TyrellKnifeworksawesome! I’m sure it’s well outside of my budget. LOL
1st class work, great finishing it looks to be a capable sword ready for fencing if ever need be!
Thanks for taking a look!
Beautiful piece Denis absolutely worthy of the Officers rank
Thanks for checking it out!
I was stationed on the Eisenhower. Hated it then now I’m full of fond memories.
I’ve heard the same from others! 😜. Thanks for watching!
Always a good Saturday morning when Dennis posts! Let's go!
Thanks for following along!
Absolutely beautiful and classy! Great Job!
GO NAVY!
Thanks for checking it out, Keith!
Very nice. I wish more people would work on US Officer's Swords.
I have the Mameluke in my sights as well. Thanks for watching!
stunning!
Thanks for watching, Steve!
Amazing precision and another beautiful blade!
Thank you very much!
As an active duty naval officer I can't tell you enough how amazing and epic this is. Thank you for that homage to our heritage. Would you consider creating and selling a similar one?
This one is actually for sale. Email me at Tyrellknifeworks at gmail if you’re interested. Thanks for watching!

As an ET, I approve of this sword. haha
Really, a very beautiful build.
Thank you for sharing some of your skill with us.
My son is an ET. 😉. Thanks for your service and for watching!
I don't hate hand sanding. It's the most satisfying part of the builds next to the handle finishes. I mean...I don't LOVE it... but I'm a perfectionist with some ocd and I can't deny the way the "before and after pics" make me feel. I hand sanded my first knife for like 8 hours bc It was my first time hand sanding steel... I was learning as I went. Thank you for great content. That is a stunning sword, and I'm so jelly lol!!! 😂 keep it up, we love your content!!! 😊
Stay tuned to the channel. You may see something to help you with that hand sanding soon. 😉. Thanks for watching.
Very Nice! What are your plans for the sword? IMHO this sword should be displayed on the wall in the officers meeting room on board the Eisenhower! It should stay with the ship! You have made another blade that will outlive all of us. Well done!
This one is for sale. I do hope it goes to a USS Eisenhower vet. Thanks for watching.
I love the diy approach, using the replica was a cool move
It certainly saved me from a ton of research and extra work. Thanks for watching, Vince
Denis I have to tell you I don’t know if you got your master smith yet or not but I will say it again, you ARE a master in my mind! You put out some of the most beautiful work on UA-cam! Your definitely an inspiration to me! Also I just finished my revolution grinder and was able to test out your sharpening jig and I am now able to get the sharpest blades I have ever made! Thanks again for that and the awesome content!!!
I’m glad the sharpener is working out! Thanks for the vote of confidence and for following the channel. ❤️
As a new subscriber, I’ve seen some knife making, but your work is by far some of the best I’ve ever seen.. wow
Thanks so much, Duane! I appreciate you watching.
As always! Another great build!!!
Thanks for checking it out! ❤️
Glad to see it finished up. I know a lot of time went into it. It came out great.
Thanks for checking it out, Jesus!
Now you're just showing off!
Great work!
Thanks for taking a look!
@@TyrellKnifeworksone day I might be as good as you! Practice practice practice!
Dude... one Of the best swords iv seen built on UA-cam..EVER!!!
Fantastic brother
Thanks so much! I appreciate you taking a look!
When I was on the Eisenhower, it was cool leave little messages with "IB" written on them, which meant, "Ike Bites." But now, two and a half decades later, I wish I had a sword made from the arresting cable from the Ike. This one was very well done.
Thanks for checking it out, Chris! I’ll have to ask my son if he’s seen any “IB”’s on the ship. 🤣
@@TyrellKnifeworks That would be really interesting to know. I imagine it's all been painted over by now.
The work is really beautiful, I really covet your machines!!
Thank you very much!
Amazing work as always.
Thank you! Cheers!
That thing is beautiful!!
Thanks for checking it out, Jake.
Awesome project. I totally dig it
Thank you! Cheers!
salam bang ikut nyimak penempah pedang angkatan laut dari kabel mantap banget pedang nya bang 👍👍👍👍
Excellent work, dear sir!
Thanks for checking it out!
Awsome build. Your better than I am but I would suggest if you do the rayskin again to wrap it in string while the glue is still wet to form it to the shape of the wood. (Maybe soak it as well). Thats how medeival swords were done.
That’s exactly what I did, and it was damp. Thanks for watching.
Highly dedicated work ,class apart kudos 👏
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching
All I can say is WOW 👍
Thanks for checking out this build, Daniel!
You are Master, my friend!

I have an overview video of my press build. It’s a relatively easy build for about $1500. Check it out.
This is beautiful Tyrell! God bless - IZ
Thanks for checking it out!
Im a marine and even i think it looks amazing good job man. You should do a marine officer sword next. Cant wait for the next vid man
I do have the Mameluke on my list to do at some point. Thanks for watching.
I've been wanting to do one of these for ages, but the knucklebow for the Army's M1902 is surprisingly intimidating...
Yes, the handle on these are very daunting. Thanks for watching.
Again a work of art. I would love to have a saber like the one I still have but real and sharp
This one certainly is real sharp! 😜. Thanks for watching!
That's wild seeing one of these so sharp. My dad still has his in a closet and the only thing it ever cut was the cake at my parents' wedding. That's a great pattern that looks like waves.
Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, this one is pretty sharp. 😉
Very cool
