downsouth-expeditions.creator... Old House Gap road is certainly not for beginners in off-roading. Old House gap road brings many obstacles to the table which did make for a awesome time.
The trail was wide enough to get through but be prepared to pick up some pinstripes on you way.
Old house gap road offers every type of obstacle, rocks, mud, snow if its that time, and tight/ sharp turns that may take some getting out and planning to pick the perfect line.
The Ford Ranger did amazing and had zero issues while on the trail.
If you are looking for a great place to do some serious offroading this is a great place to start!

The National Parks Forest service closed down the Old House Gap road last year and probably never open it back up to vehicles again! That's what a Ranger told me when I was there last fall!

I was lucky to run into these boys and run this trail. I learned a lot from them. Some of the most well mannered young men I have ever met and super cool adventure enthusiasts!

We just rode through this same area recently. You'll have to check it out again in the spring or summer when everything is nice and green.
Grew up near there. I’ve been across old house gap in just about every vehicle you can imagine. Two and four wheels. Even took a Chevy Caprice down it back in the 80’s. That was interesting. Nice video!

Awesome video! Thinking about taking my lifted forester down this trail at the end of September. Are there decent dispersed camping sights on this trail or is it more of a drive in, drive out trail?
I like these Ford Rangers. Drove one & have to say that it’s much more comfortable & smooth on power delivery than a Tacoma; far nicer interior too. I’d go with a Ranger or Chevy ZR2 ... have zero interest in Toyota.
Absolutely agree. I test drove a new Tacoma and they just aren’t hitting on much.

Right now I’m rocking a DIY bed rack I made out of some rectangular tubing and sister strut. Max tracks and shovel mounted to the rack. Nothing special. But definitely budget friendly👍
