People give you a lot of flack, but you know your stuff and you're a better teacher than most. Once I got past the cornball jokes, you've been in my top five most informative youtubers since I started woodworking. And possibly the absolute most helpful concerning my personal needs and skill level. most importantly, you're excellent at addressing the little steps in between the big ones without getting bogged down in details. You don't get enough credit, Jerry Seinfeld!
+donny karate Thank you. I know my style isn't for everyone. I may not be serious, but i take woodworking serious. Thank you for giving us a chance. And yes, when Seinfeld was on tv, I heard that everywhere. Even fooled a few people introducing myself as him. :-)
+Sterling Davis That's actually a good idea. I had someone else suggest that to me as well. I do know if the candle is too tall it can burn the underside of the top lid.
Ok, so where can I get a banjo playing drill? Mine only plays the clarinet. Um, looks like you can flip pancakes with that ginormous chisel! Might need to give this project a whirl for some outdoor lanterns for our deck! Cheers!
How were the posts attached on originals ... back in the day (It was probably a Wednesday)? Did they use screws or nails? Dowels? Maybe mortise the posts into the base?
I have lantern that is similar that is used for pre-1840 camps we go to. Just a suggestion, use a piece of mirror for the back pane and it should give a touch more light.
wow when Safety's lighter has more lumin's than a candle.... wow. then again it was in front of UofM Sweatshirt. (note to self must get Safety a MSU Sweatshirt.)
Thank you Bill. It is fun to make, just be careful fitting the glass. Other than that, it's pretty easy. Hope you subscribe to the channel and check out what we are doing for our viewers this Monday!

The banjo playing drill is awesome! Chad, I think it's time for you to dance!
I like the way it turned out.
Great vid on this vintage style lantern. Enjoyed this one very much.
Nice job on the lantern Chad! Would love to see a test of how long it takes for it to go up in flames...if it even does.
Nice simple project for beginners like me. Love the humore in your videos. Would like to see more of Safety Dan, keeps things light and happy.
...love that banjo playin drill.
Great video guys. The lantern project was an excellent idea.

Great lantern Chad, nice work. I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the great work...
I would love to see the original designed to see how they would do the joinery back them!
Pro trick : watch series on Kaldrostream. I've been using them for watching loads of movies recently.
@Russell Cairo yea, I've been watching on KaldroStream for since november myself :D
@Russell Cairo yup, been using KaldroStream for since november myself :D
dowels instead of screws
Ah thats a cool lantern!
get rid of the phillips screws and add an air hole in the bottom to get a better draft= brighter light....
Very nice, would adding a Tin/brass shield on the underside of the top piece, or would that produce to much heat, Beautiful Piece

Hi How do you swap out the glass panels if one breaks? You have everything glued and screwed in. Just curious.
This design is actually Viking

I wonder if it would produce more light with one or more panels being a mirror. Of course it would be directional vs unidirectional.
Thoughts?
God Bless Daftey Dan!
Great video Chad. I think I'll make this with my grandson for his mom...
