    Since your husband made the candle rack - just go ahead and have him make a notch or mark on the base or side of the rack for how long your wicks are that way incase you use all your candles up before your next batch you'll always know how long to cut the wicks. 🤗

    If you lay down parchment paper the wax will peel right up after cooled and be able to go right back into melt pot

    I love making candles! I love your process. I did notice that you straightened the candles with your fingers so I was wondering if you have tried using a small weight like a metal nut that you could snip off when you are done which could help you on that?❤

    Thank you so much for sharing your process! I've recently become obsessed with the idea of making my own beeswax tapers for gifts, so it's super-helpful to see the whole setup and workflow. ❤

    OMG! How time flies. I remember when your little one was born, and I can't believe how both girls have grown up so fast. Both are growing up to be such beautiful young ladies. I miss your podcast but every time you post one, I can see the great improvements your husband has made to the farm. You're what one would call a dynamite couple.

    Lovely! Ohhh I do love beeswax candles!!
    I made candles once in a group class, plain white, Christmas time thing, and the man said they had made beeswax before and because it is expensive over here, they actually melted it in a pot of hot water, so the wax floated. And they dipped through that. That way, they did not have to fill the whole pot.
    I have melted beeswax cappings a friend gave me in water and then let it cool and it forms a layer on top of the water and mades a nice flat disk which was easily stored. I have always wanted to make beeswax candles. They are so gorgeous and smell so amazing. I have a stash for salves and then a stash of end bits of old candles etc ...and someday when the candle stash is big enough, I will try. (I keep them separate as I read somewhere that "beeswax candles" were often mixed with regular wax to help them melt easier? Not sure it is true, but not wanting to risk it. So, I don't want that in my salves!) Nice when you have a local supply of large amounts of beeswax!! Slightly envious ;-) Best, Lynne

    • @AWoodenNest
      @AWoodenNest  2 роки тому +1

      That’s so fascinating! I hadn’t thought about just melting it directly in water, but it totally makes sense for keeping the level high enough for dipping.

      @@AWoodenNest Me either! I thought it was rather brilliant. Very.. frugal too? Or not frugal, but ... clever? Anyway, I was looking at my beeswax stash and I doubt I would get more than birthday candles. So, I need to think about stocking up one of these days. Have a good one!! L.

    I'm able to get hold of beeswax quite frequently and wanted to reflect that in the slogan of my new candle business, but maybe "we've got wax coming out of our ears" wouldn't be the best choice.

    This was nice. What about putting little weights at the bottom, like beads. What would that do?

    • @Nicereview763
      @Nicereview763 8 місяців тому +1

      I've seen people tie little nuts (as in metal ones) to the bottom the after the first few dips when it's nice a straight they snip them off and save the nuts for reuse.

    You should ties a metal nut (or something else cheap and heavy and reusable) to the bottom of them to keep them straight.

    What a great video! Thank you for all the amazing information. One question about burning homeade bees wax tapers. Do they drip if you let them burn for very long? They don't appear to in your video. Thanks again! P.s. The girls are getting so big!❤

    Hello,
    If I wanted scented candles could I add essential oil to the wax? Would that affect the burning of the candle?
    Thank you so much for sharing your crafting.

      The only problem I can think of with adding EOs is that they have a flash point. It might be hard to maintain the correct temperature in your wax dipping pot since it’s over heat for such a prolonged period of time. It might be helpful to use a thermometer.

    Just out of curiosity… could you cold water dip to cook wax off then redip in wax for faster cooling/coating ? Or would that mess up the wax?
