    If you've done much UV editing, you've noticed that there's a lot less tools than when editing meshes, and you often need 3rd party addons. What if we could just edit our UVs as a mesh? In this video I'll show you how, with a little help from Geometry Nodes and the Data Transfer Modifier! And also some info on projecting grid retopology onto non-square UV islands using Knife Project.
    UPDATE: There is a working version of TexTools addon for Blender 4.0

    oh my god sir, you are a genius. I've watched both vids that are currently uploaded as of the time I'm writing this comment, and I am very impressed. I'm sure this is gonna revolutionize retopology in blender. This is like one more way to escape from the shrinkwrap modifier hellish workflow. Thank you for sharing it, keep up the great job.

      Speaking of shrinkwrap, I'm planning a video on how to make a better version using geonodes.

    this sounds incredibly useful. also as a related aside i know the best way to learn geonodes is probably the blender manual but is there a way to find an easier to understand explaination for what the more common nodes do?

      Hmm not that I'm aware of off the top of my head. I learned from reading the manual and studying Erindale's excellent nodepack and asking questions in their discord server. And a lot of trial and error.

    The proportion of body models is just perfect.. did you make them yourself? Where can I get them?

    • @aVersionOfReality
      @aVersionOfReality  2 місяці тому

      Yes, I made it myself by studying both anime references and actual models. It isn't available or really finished yet but hopefully I'll get to making a video about it one of these days :)

    Wherever you have seams and discontinuity in your UV map, you'll have "seams and discontinuity" in your mesh. How does the back of the shirt look like?

      it's all fun and games until you want to loop cut or loop edge select

      Next video will show the full retopo of the shirt and address this stuff.

    You know, you could just use the "remeshing" feature in marvelous instead of doing all of this... This really accomplished nothing. Unless you enjoy doing a lot of nothing to occupy your time.

      Unless you're not working in marvelous. Or want a different topo layout than it gives. Or are working on some other auto-topology in blender (like from quad remesh.) Or are retopoing any other sort of topology. Marvelous topo is just an example.
