JET STEPHEN CHONG, a pianist of Filipino Chinese descent, has garnered numerous accolades through his participation in various piano competitions. Some of the most notable among these include the National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) where he won the Grand Prize and Special Prize for Best Interpretation of Contest Piece, in addition to first prizes from the Paris International Music Competition, UK International Music Competition, and King’s Peak International Music Competition. Other top prizes he has received include those from the Singapore International Music Competition, London Classical Music Competition, UCSI International Piano Competition, Steinway Youth Piano Competition, and the Piano Teachers’ Guild of the Philippines Foundation Incorporated (PTGPFI).
His orchestral performances have added to his impressive musical journey, including a debut at the age of 15 with the Manila Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Aries Caces, and a rendition of Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto with the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra led by Gerard Salonga. He has showcased his virtuosity in numerous solo recitals in venues such as the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Philippine International Convention Center, Yong Siew Toh (YST) Conservatory's Concert Hall, Manila Pianos, and Steinway Boutique Manila.
Having been under the guidance of Mr. Anthony Say and Ms. Mary Evans Villalon, Jet recently completed his bachelor’s degree at the YST Conservatory of Music, where he earned a full scholarship under the mentorship of Prof. Albert Tiu. Currently pursuing graduate studies at Indiana University Bloomington's Jacobs School of Music under Dr. Spencer Myer, Jet also holds the position of Associate Instructor in Piano where he is responsible for providing individual and group piano lessons to non-music students.
