Yes the fuse box diagram was looked at incorrectly. Yes we could’ve just edited it out. Yes we all have brain farts sometimes. Yes we’re all human. This mistake had no effect on the client or their price. It’s not some kind of misinformation. It’s just a simple mistake. If you’ve been with the channel long enough you know we show our mistakes and usually just laugh it off when they’re something like this. If you want videos where it’s always perfection, due to editing, then you’re at the wrong one. Thank you to all of you for the support! 👍

I think it's great that you include that footage. For us DIY folks, it's nice to see the pros making mistakes. From watching your channel and Rainman Ray's Repairs, I've learned to be patient with myself and not get hung up about some frustrating part of a repair.
Many moons ago, I read a saying that went "Mistakes are the chance to start over again with greater knowledge" and it has always stuck with me to this day. That is honestly what I love about you guys, Scanner Danner, Eric O. and the other channels I watch you show not only your wins but also the hiccups along the way. We are ALL human; an honest error or misstep is inevitable now and then, and all things being good and equal, it is something we should not vilified for or made to feel lesser because of. I have worked in toxic shop environments where if you made an honest oopsie in the process, you'd at the least be whispered about through the shop, if not openly vilified for it. Sadly, when you're stuck in that environment long enough, you begin to adopt a fight-fire-with-fire mentality to protect yourself, and when those same people who crucified you for messing up end up making a mistake themselves, you find yourself thinking and doing the same back to them. You can also begin to turn inward and mentally beat yourself up when in those situations and feel like you are a lesser tech for it at the end of the day. I still catch myself now and then having those feelings of self-loathing and self-depreciation to this day if I make an honest mistake. These kinds of videos are so beneficial to me not only for the technical know-how and processes, but also for the lesson of having compassion and humility through both the wins and the missteps, and that is more helpful than I could ever put into words or show thankfulness to you gents for 👊.
Don't usually comment but watched the live giveaway and heard you say people give you a hard time on things. I am retired now but still like to learn and really like your channel and you do a great job and love your honesty so don't let the bad ones get the best of you. There's always going to be a nah Sayer who probably have never done anything. Great to see these channels to get this information out there so PLEASE KEEP UP The GREAT WORK and thank you!!!!!!!
I love watching your diagnostic process, even more so when there are slight mistakes you end up correcting later on as it is absolutely relatable. Love you guys's channel it makes me a better technician video after video! 🤙
Good video I was certain connector s138 looking at the diagram would have let me that way but now I’ll remember to unplug anything on that connector if accessible Always learning Thanks and CHEERS

Hey Sherwood, I'm a younger guy who's coming up on 3 yrs in automotive. I'd love to get into scoping but the financial and technical aspects can be intimidating. I've been looking at scopes like the picoscope 2 channel and I'd also love to hear your thoughts on the hantek TO1112D as a cheap alternative to get my foot in the door and start scoping. I would absolutely love to get a video on that and I don't doubt others would too. Thank you for this channel. It's a fantastic resource for younger techs like myself wanting to learn!
Funny thing about pressures is ive been burned before by having good pressures, but clutch didnt turn on. Turned out it actually didnt have enough freon in it.
Fuse 11 is the only 10 A fuse from the second row if you count the rows of fuses from the headlight to the windshield. Because the majority of the relays are in the bottom part, towards the headlight.
He should have turned the cover upside down to get the correct orientation of the fuse box. I don't think he was looking at the correct slot for fuse 11 because he was counting the fuses from the bottom and should have been counting them down from the top with the cover upside down.
On alot of vehicles if compressor not coming on, and you have pressure in the system, its very easy to bypass the low pressure switch, just put a piece of wire in the 2 pin plug harness, compressor will usually come on, then you can see the correct reading on the gauges, add if needed, or troubleshoot to find the leak.(the function of the low pressure switch is to turn off the compressor when system gets low on refrigerant, also a very common failure part)
Sometimes, on some cars, I've noticed that disconnecting the twelve volt battery and reconnecting it (or initiating the idle relearn procedure) can fix this problem, although when it can, usually the compressor would at least be trying to engage
also on the ford trying to find what u want . click ,click click and like thats what i want, its like how many you got to click on before u find it. at least in the newer info is easier like what u found
Hey Sherwood(s)! Love your channel. Silly question, but do you sell any swag in your shops or online? I'm happy to be a fan from afar and leave your business to do what it does best, but I'm close by and figured if you did sell any t-shirts (or the holy grail... the work shirts!) then I'd pop in to grab one on my way past. Keep up the great work!
Mercedes and bmw have the same sensor same function but they call it and IBS sensor. It regulates battery flow on some bmws if the water pumps are intermittently failing most likely the ibs sensor has gone bad
Just today I took apart my transit 350 xlt. The rear was cold but little flow. I ended up pulling almost a small cat worth of gunk off the coil. The 350 xlt 15 passenger ford has the worst way of getting to the coil. Four seats, two seat belts and have to lift up the floor pading just to have little access to the rear coil.
My landlord at my shop has a 2020 Sierra Denalli Duramax. His AC went out year and half ago. I fixed my grand cherokee AC and told him Im glad I finally got it working. He was like mine hasnt worked in year and half and dealer wants 180 just to look at it. I checked freon it was full. Compressor would kick on then off. I got in live data and high side sensor was bouncing like 70 PSI up and down. I called dealer and he was like yeah I can order it its $9.36. Im like yeah my diag is done. Itw as a 10 dollar part.
Our Snap-On Zeus is very annoying with the auto connecting and out of nowhere deciding to reconnect to the vehicle mid scan or while checking data. Super annoying.
Our snap on did the same thing the scanner did an update but the dongle did not both have to go throught the update dongle needs to connected to the scanner i believe with usb cable
At minute 5:11 you should’ve rotated that fuse cover 180°. 😂. Or when you open the fuse cover, flip it over to the left or right. Then you shoud be looking at the number orientation correctly. As far as I could tell.
they also could say in info with this code these other systems wont work. also on pids when computer is making up numbers cause a senor is improper they could let u no thats whats happening. all this technology and wont do this for us
If i have a scanner most modern cars have a AC clutch command before i do anything else hint if its a older honda its in the engine data for some reason.
Let's get into it. One of Ron's #1 Rules; “Always start at the beginning”. Were I your customer on this job, I'd be Royalty pissed at paying you to play video games for twenty minutes (in the end, that's really all you did) before sticking your head underneath and finding the pressure sensor, a THREE WIRE sensor that tells you at a glance to test power, ground and signal. Next you go to a 'scope, but not utilized as a scope as there are no wave forms shown, you chose it as an inconvenient DVOM substitute, yet more of your wasted time/labor Customer must pay for. There was NOTHING you did with your scanner and your 'scope that couldn't have been done far faster with only a DVOM and schematics. Another one of Ron's #1 Rules; “When electrical/electronic test results make no sense, test your test set up, ohm your test leads, feed your tester a known good signal, check your probe connections.” When you finally did produce a scope pattern, a fine, spiked waveform, you didn't spread that pattern out for analysis, no need, you used it only as a go/no-go indicator which a DVOM or a test light could have done. Did you charge your plumber buddies for your scan & 'scope play time as “Diagnostic Time”??
Yeah, you’ve a point there Ron - those watching this vid could now just go straight to unplugging the connector to see if compressor turns on. But as you’ll know - unplugging / plugging things back in can upset the apple cart ‘sometimes’ Similarly as someone else mentioned - disconnect battery & connect to see if things ‘reset’ - or hear compressor engaging or not - simple first time tricks/fix/diagnosis. As you say - a VOM meter could diagnose voltages too - no need for scope - unless wanting to view data - as some lines / troubleshooting requires. Suppose it’s what you’re used to & what’s to hand. I’m sure the customer wasn’t charged much more than what you think might be fair? Why not have a guess how much the customer was charged & see if it’s in your ball part figure 🤔 u could prob take to 5 diff garages & get 5 different quotes/charges from $20 (your garage) to $1000 those that’d rip the customers off!
Wow ron your a perfect person and have a great strategy, that you are all talk or keyboard warrior. This here is learning, figuring out what is happening. Every mechanic knows Ford fuse box identifying is crap. You can't beat the engineers that make the products, even if you have best product. Next shut up and listen you might learn something.

It’s silly how the manufacturer has the fuse diagram backwards as if you are looking at the box from inside the engine compartment.

Fuse 11 is the only 10 A fuse from the second row if you count the rows of fuses from the headlight to the windshield.
Because the majority of the relays are in the bottom part, towards the headlight.
the diagram on the cover is in relation to the cover upside down. the single row of relays is in the back.
He should have turned the cover upside down to get the correct orientation of the fuse box. I don't think he was looking at the correct slot for fuse 11 because he was counting the fuses from the bottom and should have been counting them down from the top with the cover upside down.
Yep, I always imagine the fuse cover is transparent, and I’m looking straight down through it.
You’re correct. Gonna blame the heat for that one. 😬😅
Ford his horrible for their legends on fuse block covers...I remember In the early 2000's it may as well been cave men drawings
It's just a map. Always orient your map before trying to navigate by it.

Not on modern vehicles. That trick hasn't worked in 20 years. All modern vehicles use a sensor switch like in the video.
Great video describkng each step as if we were there with you.

Can you ground on a ground post in the engine bay? I know my 09 Jetta has ground posts all over the place.
That was an excellent training show on troubleshooting thanks for the great work
That is amazing how you traced circuit that AC compressor clutch was on. One that connector unplugged instantly compressor engaged
Can be this test be done just with test ligh if you connect to the ground and poke signal wire (5v) and if does illuminate or don’t
on those u have to to pull the whole front off to work on.

Tampering with fuse box
Sometimes we go faster when we slow down......
You look at the fuse location under the lid as if you’re holding a piece of paper.
You had it upside down
It’s very simple.
With all the technology out there and auto manufacturers cannot label the fuse box with numbers of the fuses!!!
