The fact that it came from a Catholic and a Mormon was a tip off to me. I told my mom that I knew Jesus and I didn't need a T.V. show to teach me who he was. I have the Holy Spirit to teach me.
The Chosen may not be perfect by any means, but it is bringing so many people to Christ and that cannot be denied. I've seen and heard testimony after testimony! And there is ours. My husband and I have started the study guides series with his family and its been completely amazing and transforming our relationship with them. For the better part of 8 years, we were not at all close to getting along. The sins of all of us came between us in a heartbreaking way, and we settled that it may never be fully repaired after we started talking again. Now, it takes us 3 or 4 meetings to get through just one lesson because we are all talking so much with each other about God, about Jesus and about our faith... We are so much closer now than we ever would have been even if all that tore us apart never happened. To be fair, we really aren't talking about the show very much at all lol. The study guides (what I've read so far anyway) stays true to scripture, and it gets our conversations going, and going deep. It brings us closer to his family in a very Godly way, and we will never be ungrateful for that. Of course this is Gods doing, but the show was a part of it. People should not look at this show as a depiction of the ministry of Jesus Christ. We all acknowledged that on day 1 and i suggest to anyone watching the show to do the same. We can never know what it was really like to be a follower back then. If you want to know Jesus, pick up your Bible and read!! The show is merely a tool, not all you would ever need in the slightest. The fact that people need to read the Bible has not changed, with or without the show. My question is, are more people reading because of it? Have more people stopped reading because of it? God is divine, he can work to bring us to Him in any way He choses 🙏 You can disagree with the show, that is ok! My mom doesnt like it, and the second she told me how it made her feel i told her she needed to not watch it. Romans 14. But the hatefulness from *some* is too much in my opinion.
I was an athiest. The chosen actually got me interested in the gospel. I know it's a little different ive been reading the bible for my first times ever. And yeah I make sure I don't think of him as Jesus when I pray lol
@Spartan Heart Praise God! He draws straight with crooked lines. He can bring good out of anything from the totally wicked (people converted in crack dens) to the less than faithful. So the question is not, can God use it? But is this obedient to His revealed will?
Praise the Lord. It can lead people to want to know more then you read and find the true Jesus. I did the same was catholic then read scripture after I called out to Jesus after being hit by a car And couldn't walk . I became born again changed my heart and life and now I know Him really know Him . Welcome home my brother or sister. ❤❤

you may have been drawn to an image of jesus out the producers mind. The word teaches us to be careful of what touches the flesh and makes us feel good. Plz study the Gospels to see who Jesus really is. Jesus has been around a long time so i wonder why he was never noticed by those who say they finally see him thru a tv show?
I reconnected to my love for Jesus watching a rerun of Jesus Christ Superstar in a rundown greenish moviehouse at the edge of the world in the middle of nowhere in Patagonia. It hit me so hard that I cried myself to pieces through the whole movie. It changed my whole life. God can use anything to bring us to Him or back to Him. He knows our hearts. The Chosen makes people talk about Jesus again and many go to the scriptures after seeing the show.. I am convinced that the largest worldwide revival is on the horizon and The Chosen will have have helped to open a lot of eyes and curiosity to the evil shallowness of our selfcentred culture and societies. The world is falling apart in front of our eyes and too many have slept for too long. The Chosen is milk diet for the newbies and the bible will give them the meat. Trust in the way of the Lord. He has called His prophet now.. His name is Oliver Anthony and he makes people aware of their pain and emptiness through music. His amazing singing voice and poetic and true words resonate with our spirit , opens our soul and prepares the ground for God to come in. "He came that we may have life and have it more abundantly." Blessings
The original movie in the 70's was my introduction to Jesus ( mom was kind of a hippy). God knows what he is doing. Just the ones who Jesus preached against then are the ones who now condem others way of trying to reach people.
37:12 That is bang on. When I try to engage a conversation about the "issues" with 'the chosen' series, it inevitably invokes a defensive response (with emotions to suit). It's very divisive. Makes me scratch my head: "why are you defending what is essentially TV entertainment as authority and truth?"
It probably gets defensive because people don't want to be treated as if they don't have a mind to discern what is scripturally sound just like you do. They may percieve your trying "to engage" as trying to push your point of view on them. Can't say I blame them.
The Chosen inspires me to read scripture and point me back to the real Christ. I do not consider it biblical truth, just biblically inspired. And when the culture is currently being taken over by debauchery, I don’t know why we Christians don’t take more action to make shows half as good as the Chosen! We need to take ground for the Kingdom of God back and not frighten other Christians from using their artistry to glorify God!
The ppl behind the chosen are Not Christian. 1. They don't even believe that Jesus is the Son of God, or part of The Holy Trinity. They wrote their own bible. That's Blasphemy against the One, True, Living God. When I found That out, I didn't watch the movie, & I skipped all their ads. I know Jesus the Christ, Personally. I've Studied the Bible for 48 Years. When you Know God's Word for real, the lies jump out at you. And movies that Lie about my Saviour, are NOT entertaining. 💗
@@elizabethbowie9753 That's ridiculous. You should maybe do more research instead of just believing everything you hear. So called Christians like you are who make non Christians not want to listen to anything to do with Jesus. If it inspires people to read their bible and get closer to the Lord, who are you to criticize? If you don't want to watch it, then don't. No one is listening to you anyway. The rest of us will do what we want to do. I read my Bible and have a close relationship with Jesus and no TV series is going to change that. Many people have found their way to the Lord and read their Bibles because of the show. Let Jesus be the judge. I'm pretty sure he hasn't appointed you to do it for him. Most people are perfectly capable of figuring out the truth in the Bible.
God used it to do that. The series doesn’t have the power to lead you to Christ. You can’t possibly kneel before the Christ in the Chosen and repent and trust in that man in the movie
@@tomhitchcock8195 He said it LED him to the Bible and Christ. God can lead people using anything he chooses to. God has the Power to use the series to lead people to Himself. To deny that is to deny God's Ominipotence.
I have a friend who saw Jesus Christ Superstar in the theater years ago and God used that to draw him to himself. He is a strong Christian to this day.
Nice. Although very ironic considering JC Superstar is told through Judas' perspective, which is why Jesus tends to be a primadonna in it as he's being compared to a rockstar. lol.
I was a little skeptical of The Chosen, probably because most Christian productions are substandard. I was pleasantly surprised that it was well written and produced, and I was moved to love Jesus and the Scriptures even more. Many people, especially young people, are opening up to receive the message of the gospel because of this show. I will not be critical, and I think that we should rejoice that God’s truth is going out to this generation.
There is one massive problem with what you have just said and that is your whole statement is based on a false premise which is that God's truth is going out with this show. There is nothing of truth about this show, it is all a massive deception from start to finish. Please look up sacrilege, heresy and blasphemy because that's what this show is about and that could not be more different to the truth of God - it is diametrically opposed.
Hopefully many will read His Word and not get caught up in the producers and actors of these films that support religion that is NOT of Jesus Christ found in the Holy Bible. John 14:6 🙏 You know, a different gospel; another Jesus; your truth, my truth scenarios.
Regardless of how you feel about Lonnie Frisbee, the fact that God uses flawed people is what’s important. That means He can even use you and me. Come to think of it, I cannot recall one example in the scriptures where God used perfect people to accomplish anything. 🤔
@@mrgus1 but it's too be expected that many who profess aren't saved. Jesus tells us that many will serve him in his name but he doesn't know them and Paul says whether in pretense or truth Christ is preached, the thing is that the truth of Christ must be preached, Jesus will deal with those not doing it in spirit and in truth.
@Westy So. Cal. But the question is not “can God use this?” Because God uses the most horrible tragedies and evils for His ultimate Glory. The question we need to ask is, “is this obedient to God’s revealed will?”
The chosen exposen is the most in depth video i have seen on the show. Yeshua as Emmanuel (God with us) is constantly above the normal thoughts and actions of humanity.
Your critique is interesting and has valid points; I have always stayed apart from worldly takes on biblical subjects so I can not compare directors, actors or script writers. That being said, my son who is mature (I'm 82) told me he'd been watching the series then sent me a link to watch it. While I saw time lines being squished and dialogue being added, I just let the story roll on. I was genuinely impressed with the attempt to show the normal life of the Jewish people and what it was like to live during the time of Christ's ministry. The important point of the many different churches being involved was for me about their personal desire to educate others about Christ.. In actuality there are so many who don't read anymore, who don't have the inclination to wonder about why we needed a sinless human being to redeem our life. If this series gets some of those who watch it to consider the background of Mary Magdala, Jesus mother, the young men who were called to follow him, and their interrelationships we will again be busy reading aloud the stories from the Word. The other thing I say is that Jesus was in the flesh but now looks or appears quite differently to us in the book of Revelation, so we might better adjust our expectations of his next appearance.
Galatians 1:6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel- 7not that there is another one, but there are some who trouble you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. 10For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servantb of Christ.
As a Christian--and committed to sound exegesis--for more than 3 decades it's difficult to imagine my response as an unbeliever. I find The Chosen rich in story and production quality but that is filtered through a prior knowledge of the text. Those producing the series are completely upfront concerning their extra-biblical speculations.
Be more concerned with what the GOD of creation can do with The Chosen to bring the world to an interest in Christ and send them to the original source material. GOD has everything in His hands and under control. Have more faith in Him and not in the tools that He uses (like Jenkins and The Chosen and the liberties you find so disturbing). These men are missing the point and have definitely decided to play the devil's advocate when God has all in His control.
@@tommedley5367 this!!! Instead of being grateful, that it makes people come to Christ, they seem to not trust God, that HE will lead people closer into all truth in the process.
The Chosen is emphasizing the Heart of the Father; that is their primary desire. To ignite passion in believer and unbeliever alike. Truth IS important, but the heart when given life and room to breathe freely, is so much more capable than the mind.
@@peter25681 The Chosen really brought me back to the church, and deepened the humanity of the Apostles for me. Before they were just names in the bible to me, and now i sometimes weep when passages from Matthew are read in church because I understand and feel the humanity of the Apostles in a much more profound way. And yes, I am aware the Apostles were nothing like the personalities of the actors portrayed in the Chosen. I actually know the difference between reality and a TV show! 😂 The Chosen deepened my faith and brought my faith alive in ways nothing else could. I believe God is using that show in amazing ways.
If you actually look through the thousands of reviews and comments on this show, you'll notice a trend that this show is leading masses of people to go and read the scriptures for themselves. That's actually the goal of the creators, they have actually said that this show isn't supposed to be like a pastor preaching a message since he is not a pastor.... but is for two purposes, 1)entertainment, and 2)to draw people to the scriptures. I think it's safe to say both of those goals are being met.
Absolutely true. I'm reformed 1689 all the way but on that one Joel is completely wrong. After 3 seasons of the Chosen, I found a single word of the whole script that I would consider wrong theologically. Now regarding this idea that Dallas is too close to Mormons, that might be true but I judge the Chosen from what I see on the screen, how faithful they are to Scripture. This idea that the Chosen is not faithful to Scripture because they are rearranging and moving certain part of the dialogue and adding some lines that are not in the Bible is absolutely ridiculous. Of course they have to add 95% of the script outside of the Bible otherwise you would have a 3 episodes show and that would be it...
I'm charismatic and find a multiple things I disagree with in the Chosen series...but I disagree with things that my pastor beleives and that Joel beleives too...but that doesn't mean I write them off as useless or wolves in the church. For example, I dotn love that they had Matthew helping Jesus with the sermon on the mount, but at the same time if you look at it through the lense of training it actually makes sense. Often times a teacher will ask a student their opinion, not because they don't actually know, but to get the student to think for themself and give the student some confidence. Maybe it wasn't portrayed well in the show, but it seems this was the purpose of that scene.
The fact that Jenkins calls Mormons brothers/sisters in Christ, shows me he has no discernment. Mormons do not believe in the God of scripture. With Jenkins stating this make me wonder if he knows Christ, because he sees no difference.
While "The Chosen" may not be perfect, I'd say it's far better than watching anything by Bart Ehrman, James Tabor, or Simca Jacobovici. I am watching it so far and found it enjoyable -- and inspiring me to spend more time with my Bible. I think of it as an updated, extended-format medieval morality play. I strongly disagree with your assertion that it's more harmful than good.

The Chosen was a mediator to bring you to God's Word... uhhh... THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING. Just go to the Bible!! The Chosen adds to Scripture like crazy. example: compare Mark 2:3-5 with the Chosen version. The Chosen has some woman's faith involved in the story, while the Bible says it was MEN and "their faith".
That's good. Praise God you are of the minority (wise and discerning) but most in the U.S. are not; and that's the point of this assessment. One note to your comment, hopefully you meant that this show brings you closer to Christ and not only the Bible as a good deal of "Christianity" seems to. Works, even those directly serving Christ, can be glorified above Christ as the story of sisters Mary and Martha confirms.
@@nancy5721 Sorry but you have got that totally wrong. It is important that we do not wrest scripture because the Bible does not contradict itself and it says we wrest scripture to our own destruction.

The Chosen is a successful attempt to retell the Gospels with the same character, story, and design qualities that worldwide TV culture has come to know and love with their favorite shows. This has never been done before. Born out of failed attempts to be successful, the creator of the Chosen was humbled and called by God to do this. I am thankful the showrunners are guarded and accountable, and hopefully the show will maintain integrity throughout. Therefore, it is our individual responsibility to discern idols, and false doctrines. I believe there is a difference. Anything created has the potential for idolatry. Falsehood is a perversion of the Creator. As of 4/25/2024, it is my opinion the Chosen TV series has plenty of opportunities for people to make idols; however, it has NOT entered into falsehood. Moreover, I hope we are about to see one of the greatest retellings of Passion Week and impactful communications of the Gospel (in Seasons 5, 6, and 7 of the Chosen) the world has ever seen. For such a time as this.
I can understand where these guys are coming from, but I like the show because it shows how the disciples are just as flawed as me. It shows the character arc of each character. I think that's why it's called "The Chosen" and not "The Jesus". And obviously it's not supposed to replace reading scripture, so I hope people are not getting their full understanding of Christ from the show.

@@thomasfryxelius5526my girlfriend is a great example of that. She has always been atheist, raised in a very antichristian household, she would literally have a whole body shutdown reaction to simply talking about God. We had first gotten together when the faith wasn't really important to me and it was never much issue. As I've grew up and found my way back, it became much more important and as our conversations grew more towards marriage over the years I was very firm with her that any children would be raised Christian. She said she wouldn't interfer and let me do my thing. She had known about me and my "Jesus show" for awhile and eventually requested to at least know what her kids would be one day learning so we sad down and started watching together. She really loves it. Shes taken in surprisingly seriously, even managing to start whole religious conversations without her lil shutdown mode. We've had many in depth conversations and she always asks really deep questions and asks what part of the chosen are Biblical accurate, which is good cause in these dudes defense, a lot is added. Im very quick to point out inaccuracies and fluff. Theres a hunger in there that was never there before this show. Given everything she asks, its made me read up more myself to give her the right information. And just last week, for easter she asked me to take her to my church for the first time and admitted to me that for the first time she's actually wondering if she believes this or not. I know its not the immediately converted stories we love hearing but given where she was, the fact is, Satan's hold over her is slipping, and seeing the gospel through her perspective as someone finding it without being raised in it has really helped me in my own journey to get closer to Him. There are false teachings everywhere and they're right to be on the lookout, but we know them by their fruits. And for me personally, I've only seen great fruits from this. Its absolutely Biblical fan fiction, but if the message is truth, I think God can use this to help a lot of people come closer to him. Thanks for coming to my ted talk, God bless
For those saying they got saved watching the chosen, I have a question. Did you meet the REAL JESUS OR THE ACTOR JESUS? Bc when you read the Bible Jesus is completely different than what the chosen has portrayed Him as. I love hearing people came to Christ from a show but the chosen is so off biblically that I wonder who you worship and love. I was saved after hearing the Holy Spirit calling me for a couple years. He was in hot pursuit and didn’t relent. I started hearing Him and feeling the pull in my heart at 17 but was 23 when I finally surrendered and found myself face down on the alter crying asking for forgiveness and giving Him my life. I had a powerful salvation experience. I was born again and felt myself being drawn away from this physical world. My heart changed and my thoughts changed. He changed me. I fell in love with Him and got my first Bible that year. I read all day long about Him.
For myself, The Chosen has brought me closer to Jesus Christ period. And that is a good thing. Please do not be a stumbling block to those who may get a better understanding of the Gospel and of Almighty God.This show may be the only Jesus some people may see. And that is a very good thing.
Good. Hope it's not The Chosen bible study guides? Study the KJV diligently and you will find out that The Chosen is heretical, blasphemous, and sacrilegious.
And the first thing those people who are “lead to the word” will be obliged to do is crap-can a bunch of inaccuracies about it that they were fed in The Chosen. If they’re diligent, this process will only take a few months. In the much more likely event they become members of The Church of Easy Believe-ism, having said “yes” to a caricature of Jesus, this process could take many years, during which we must hope they don’t get hit by a bus or otherwise #diedsuddenly.

Part of a teachers job is to get their students to use their brain. The Chosen does not speak for Jesus in the slightest. Dalls Jenkins is on UA-cam saying Jesus was BORING and so he's made a more relatable Jesus - the AUTHENTIC Jesus - which of course is a 100% LIE. The Chosen presents an heretical imposter who is nothing like the true Jesus, and a catholic freemason to boot, who teaches people to pray the rosary which is an occult symbolic chain to the Roman Catholic church and the antichrist Pope.
I have friends witnessing/ ministering to many people from other religions.... they have a Chosen watch party at their home..... then they discuss the realities of Jesus, biblically. Praise God for the Chosen. Imperfectly reflecting the perfect Christ
I’m torn by this message. I listen to so many of you ytube preachers and the more I watch in my per suit to know and understand the word of GOD better the more and more divided the faith appears to me. We as CHRISTIANS seem to spend so much time at each other’s throats that we make ourselves easier for satan to divide and defeat us. I supported this show because I felt GOD was going to reach so many lost with this show and I have seen in my own family members begin to seek JESUS. With all the evil messages that people have been being entertained with, we finally have people watching a show that is opening doors to people who might never spent a moment thinking about JESUS. It is my hope that GOD is using this show to save people who might not have been. I don’t know my heart aches when I see this division between GODS people. I don’t know if it’s time to turn all of you off and just spend all of my time reading my BIBLE and just letting GOD LEAD MY SOUL, because trying to learn from many of you who I have been seeking out because I felt like I needed help to better understand GODS message.I’m not sure what to do now which is confusion which the BIBLE teachs us that GOD IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF confusion and seeking guidance from people I think can help educate me is causing me confusion. I will have to pray to GOD to show me the way on this but I’m sad now after listening to you guys and I like your program but some of the things I have been hearing you guys say on some of your shows has caused me much confusion. I know you guys are only human and are doing your best and I’m grateful I’m just not sure if watching ytube is the way the LORD wants me to learn. Maybe JESUS just wants me to sit with him and my BIBLE and turn all the media stuff off. I don’t know I’m going to PRAY about it and believe GOD will lead me. Thanks guys have a BLESSED DAY!!! And I believe GOD will use it all for his good PURPOSE!!!
I fully agree with you. Watching too much . is confusing. I watched all seasons of this show and felt inspired to have Faith and believe again. The show seems to make you fall in love with your Lord and Saviour Jesus. He is stern yet full of compassion for people. But yes, read the Bible and keep all the commandments. Don't forget the FOURTH. when you might ask? Friday at dusk to Saturday at dusk. It truly is a blessing. Denomination's are not what get you to heaven. It's truly and honestly believing in your Heart, that you want to know the Lord. Forgive me I can't spell today.
And allegorical fantasy portrayed by Disney is preferable? Glad I stuck with you 'til the end. All the more reason to watch The Chosen - with *discernment*
Hi guys, thanks for the discussion. The scene with Nicodemus was very impressive to me so I went back and re-watched it. You are correct verses 3:6-8 were moved after 3:12. To me this does not change the meaning of the passage. Similarly between the Gospels the different authors have some changes in order without changing the meaning. I had my bible open during the scene and at times it was verbatim. At 31:15 in the video you quote Jesus response to Nicodemus question " what did you come to save us from?" as "Spiritual death". You correctly say this is vague and could have many meanings. However the scene correctly defines spiritual death. In the scene Jesus actually says "From sin, from spiritual death." The scene makes it clear Jesus came to save the world from sin. I really think this is one of the most power presentations of the core of the Gospel I have ever watched on the screen. God bless guys.
@@peter25681 Ha ha. Good one brother Peter. You are probably right. But in this case it was mostly the video that pastors Webbon and Hughes made that caused me to reread the Nicodemus passage. I don't think it's wrong of them to discuss this question. I have asked it myself. I just came to a different conclusion. God bless!
I just left a comment as well but I forgot to mention the part about spiritual death. Thanks for letting us know that that was also accurately teaching real truth in the Chosen and one more thing wrong about the supposed reasons to avoid this show.
This is my experience as well. I have heard many criticisms of the show, but I find that when I reread the passages carefully I often find they are very biblically correct or at least one possible way to understand the text. So criticize away, but also consider if the reason why you don´t think a text is biblically accurate can be that you have not read the texts carefully enough. When you criticize the show, the show is not the only possible option for what can be wrong.
@@MPoweredChristianMinistries Hi, Thanks for your encouraging comment. I agree there are many points in the series where the Gospel comes out loud and clear. I recently went to a friend's retirement party. I wore my "Jesus" T-shirt as I typically do to be a witness. A friend of mine after asking if I was "religious" asked me if I heard of that new series called "The Chosen". I said yes and that it's awesome. So we started discussing the movie. I thought it was so awesome that people outside the faith are seeing the Gospel portrayed in a moving way. God bless him and his wife who are watching it together and grant the grace of salvation. God bless Mpowered and God bless your ministry.
I watched most of the first season of the chosen a year ago .The Holy Spirit stopped me from watching anymore. Wasn’t sure why He stopped me but have not been able to get back into it.
Oh my goodness....you just explained the exact dilemma I was having. I am a born again Christian and an ex Catholic from a large Irish Catholic family. A sister of mine is completely enthralled with the Chosen series. I told her I watched the first two seasons but was having difficulty with the dramatic license they were taking with the Gospel, and would not be watching any further episodes. I also do not want Jonathan Roumie's image popping into my head while praying or worshipping the Lord, and I explained that is my second reason to stop watching the show. She doesn't understand my issues at all and thinks that I am being ridiculous. Even my husband doesn't get it. I am at a loss to explain this to them.
I wonder if it would help for them to read books like J. I. Packer's Knowing God. It might be one of those things people can't really understand unless convicted by The Holy Spirit, but it might help move the needle in the right direction, at least.
When I was stuck in a SBC type church, a show like The Chosen would have appealed to me as I only had a superficial understanding of God. Two years ago I turned on The Chosen and had to turn away. Felt like I was watching a dirty movie
You two are the Pharisees of 2023. I know lots of people who have come closer to Christ because of the Chosen. There is so much garbage broadcast in the name of entertainment! The Chosen is a welcome reprieve from the sin-sick world and finally a program I can watch with the whole family. Why would you want to drive people away from that? I also love the fact that Dallas draws insights from a variety of Christian persuasions, this divided world can only unify through Christ.
Your very False and deceived they’re a lot of things in this that is inaccurate and wrong and this show does not represent the Jesus of scripture saying things he never said nor did this show is a exact reasons why we must read the Word of God and not watch ungodly shows like this read the Jesus of scripture not some false Jesus in a show
I have seen a lot of good messages in a lot of Christian Movies but some of the things in them, make it I can't recommend. Yes, it can help you and tell you about the gospel... though almost right is not always right... its a trojan horse....
Everyone has an opinion but the Chosen helps me feel God's love more then any paster in all the churches I've been to. We know it's a movie but what if JC really tapped into his humanity and not all dirty. And how harf it was for those that walked with him and loved him. Yes you cannot not get the prize without seeing the suffering. I'm a sinner and I I needed to see this to actually see Tamar tell Mary Magdala you were forgiven by Jesus but you choose to hold onto the guilt. I have that problem. So I love the chosen
I can understand a lot of the objections to the show, but the idea that it violates the 2nd commandment is an objection I even have trouble understanding. Have you read the commandment? In what way does the show violate this commandment? Pastor Joel mentions this several times but he never explains how the show is a violation, just claims that it is. It´s a very serious accusation that I don´t think have any merit at all.

An interesting thought: The reason that the Hebrews were commanded not to make an image of God is because Jesus alone is the image of the invisible God.
@@rosecoward3292 Hello Rose! I think that is a beautiful idea, and holds some great truths. If we have seen Jesus, we have seen the Father. He is the image of the invisible God. Noone has seen God, but Jesus has made Him known. I completely agree on that. Well said. But... you say "the Hebrews were commanded not to make an image of God" and that is not an accurate summary of the 2nd commandment. The second commandment is this: Ex 20:4-5 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them nor serve them" Notice that what is said is not about images of God, it is against images of anything in heaven or earth. This can possibly be taken in 2 ways: 1. You should not make any image at all of anything. You should also not worship any image. 2. You should not make any image at all in order to worship it. If we go by context, we know God orders the making of images of cherubs on the ark lid later on, so the first possible understanding is not correct, so I think it has to be the second; we are not to make idols or images in order to worship them, but this is not a prohibition of images in general.
I understand your point of view of this series.Any depiction of the life of Christ of coarse falls way short of it's mark. If only we had videos of Christ's actual life wow, imagine that! I've watched some of it and some of the scenes, such as the healing of the lame man by the pool, and the woman at the well were somehow such an inspiring depiction of God's mercy.
The team at Chosen have not claimed that it is 100 percent accurate and I remember Dallas even saying that they do this for artistic purpose only and have advised not to replace reading the Scriptures. I would watch this show rather than watching all the non sense shown on tv nowadays.
The chosen has done more to bring people to Jesus than all the priests in Italy. It seems organized religion is a little jealous. Be happy so many are on the path. Isn't that what we are all after..... to bring the flock together.
The Chosen does more harm than good? There have been hundreds of translations of the Gospels over 2,000 years. There have been thousands of published commentaries discussing the meaning and intents of Jesus' words. Millions of sermons preached on their meanings. Billions of discussions among Christians about what Jesus' words mean. And let's not forget the horrific evils that have been perpetrated on Jesus' words. And now this one, single interpretation is going to destroy Christianity?
@@sheliabryant3997 Specifically, who has "DETERMINED" Jesus is being hijacked here, and by what metrics was this hijacking of Jesus "DETERMINED"? Because it kind of looks like this is your opinion that you're trying to force on the rest of us. If you're not getting anything out of the show, don't watch it.
The Chosen was never intended to replace the scriptures. The intent was to encourage people watching to read the Bible for themselves and it is accomplishing that objective around the world. It is not an evil show & does not present a false gospel. In my view, The Chosen is no different than watching the classic movie The Ten Commandments with Charleton Heston. That movie was excellent and yet had many things in it that were not in alignment with scripture. However, for me it was & continues to be very inspiring movie as it increased my love for the Lord. The Chosen depicts some scenes that are right out of scripture. Other scenes in the series are what Dallas Jenkins claims as plausible and I don't take them as gospel truth. The Chosen does a good job depicting how messed up the disciples were & many of Jesus followers; they often squabbled amongst each other & doubted God. This is pretty realistic of what I see today amongst followers of Christ - we fight one another, doubt God's goodness & often pursue other god's in our brokenness. And yet, everything changes when we turn to the Lord - honor Him, obey Him and more importantly love Him & love others with TRUTH & GRACE. The show has been very encouraging to millions around the world who have surrendered their lives to Jesus in repentance. At the end of the day, let's see what fruit this show produces in the lives of people. So far, I have seen much good come out of it. The show is not for everyone and that is fine. Joel: I would encourage you to watch the show so that you can make your own decisions given your concerns and then offer your informed commentary.
@@dale5497 the 2nd command is not about representation images. It's about creating images to be idols for worship. It's about intent. It also says no images from earth or sea, but I'm sure if you have kids you'd have no issues with them watching TV, or WORSE having a doll or action figure which is quite literally a graven image.
OK - so if you believe watching any movies where Jesus is portrayed is wrong, that is a completely different standard. When I watch movies with Jesus in them, I don’t worship the person portraying him.
Agreed, it's a different standard. But the nuance is created when we add these substandard movie versions of Christ to scripture and create another version of him...and that becomes the version we worship.
@@dale5497 but that's not the version I'm worshipping, so therefore I'm not violating the 2nd command by watching the chosen. If YOU will be tempted to worship the depiction in a movie, don't watch, but not everyone has that problem.
I grew up watching kids bible movies. They all take creative licence, but the message is the same! Usually. Sometimes they get off track, which is why it's important to read the Bible. I have only seen the 1st season of the Chosen and love it so far! I don't think anything contradicts the bible. If anything, the characters become more relatable to people watching. But I don't think it contradicts the bible. Just adds back stories to some of the characters.
The back stories in this series are fiction and misleading. It makes Matthew look like a bumbling fool and makes Jesus appear as an ordinary man. I would never never let children watch this series.
I too enjoyed the 1st season. But as I watched the 2nd and 3rd seasons it seemed to embellish ideas into the scenes that are not necessarily biblical. I started out loving the series but now not a fan and very disappointed.
Absolutely. Be more concerned with what the GOD of creation can do with The Chosen to bring the world to an interest in Christ and send them to the original source material. Right! We know a dyslexic new believer who gets something from it, though my husband and I told him to listen to audible Bible. I watched seasons 1-2 with enthusiasm and then season 3 with some bereans astuteness. You don't need a movie to make you read the Bible. If you read your Bible, you'd get to Know the True Jesus. The ppl who made the movie aren't even Christians. They don't believe in the Holy Trinity, & don't believe that JESUS is the Son of God. As Jesus said, "Do Not be Deceived,". 💗
@@ilovesunvalley There are many people reading the Bible but if they read it properly, they would know that is not enough. The Chosen does an excellent job of presenting the inspiration of scripture and more importantly, the inspiration of the Logos. You would do well to learn from Nicodemus. The religious have a religion without power to transform from death to life.

While this is true that portrayals of Jesus by humans will always be lacking, even writing of Jesus in many ways fails to represent Christ as He really is. All human works cannot depict Christ.
Perhaps critics should either watch more than the first two series or actually watch it before so much overwhelming wordy and rather self-righteous condemnation.
It can interest some enough to seek further so I think you are wrong, very wrong to attack it. It is not perfect scripturally, no. It is a beautiful tool. I love the humanity it imparts. Scoffers and mockers don't get it.
Why do you Pharisees have to criticize and witch hunt this series that’s ministering and attracting people to the Lord?! It’s not a bad production, it’s a blessing 🌹🙌👑💞
WOW... at 12:13 Joel you said if everyone was evangelical reformed then they would be on solid ground ? That sir is a very prideful pious statement. There are many and I would argue many more born again believers who are not reformed aka calvinist who are children of God. So I guess you are saying reformed equals Superior ! Btw I've never seen the chosen.
I suspected early on that these guys were merely pontificating from a position of being superior to everyone else. But what else would you expect from calvinists who think they are special because they have won gods cosmic lottery namely that they have been picked for salvation over every one else. Calvinism is a cult as problematic as Johnathan Rumey’s spiritism.
This video came up in my feed today. I had some available windshield time so I listened to it. After a brief period of time I immediately suspected that Joel was a Calvinist just by his demeanor. Around 20 minutes or so into it, he confirmed my suspicion.
The root of offense is unmet expectations. If you’re not expecting an exact duplication of what is found in scripture, and you watch the show understanding what it is - a dramatization - then you’re fine. If you’re going to the chosen as your devotional material you have bigger problems than imperfect depictions and actors who don’t pass the theological purity test.

Whether you are a scholar who knows the Bible by heart, or an atheist who is ignorant of Scripture, watching this show is the best option compared to the rest of the shows out there. The producers never claimed it was going to be exact. They did claim there’s a lot of creative freedom. Therefore, having this information we go and compare with what’s written in the Bible. All I know is this show has brought people closer to God, something we don’t see other shows doing.
So the producers and SCRIPT WRITERS literally imagine what the Pharisees must have like and create diologue based on what scriptures that can verify? Besides the "I am the Law of Moses" misquote should be enough for any discerning believer, grounded in God's Word to walk away from this TV SHOW. I can point to 2 places in the Bible where God's Word was misappropriated...... in the Garden of Eden and in the wilderness.
Exactly ! They even show the houses of Pharisees... the house of Shammai and the house of Hillel. And if one studies these two houses of Pharisees, one will find many of Jesus' teachings even before Jesus was born. Jesus basically correctly divinely judges between the two houses.
Huh? Their purpose is to make sure people know that there are issues with this series that not everyone sees. And listen, bad theology perverts your life. ' I'm here to start a revolution '? No Not at all....
@@kathyheavner3585 Hello Kathy! I hope you are well. I would agree this statement is not in Scripture, it´s clearly meant as a sort of paraphrase of what Jesus taught, so the question would be, is it accurate to what He taught or just bad theology? In the show "Jesus" specifies that this is not an armed revolution, so it´s a metaphor. Did the real Jesus teach another Kingdom, one that has higher authority in the life of a believer than the rulers of this world? Yes. That´s what a revolution is. Did His disciples teach that we must obey God more than men (leaders)? Yes, they did. Did they proclaim in the Roman empire that Jesus is Lord and die rather than worship Caesar? Yes, they did. The Kingdom of God is also revolutionary in the more figurative sense (and we know it´s not meant literally since it´s not violent) in that it´s an upending of the established order of things, it´s a massive shift in the world when the Kingdom of God comes in power to the earth. You may not agree with using the term, but that the idea has strong connections with the teachings of Christ is I believe very well supported.
@@thomasfryxelius5526 that's a wonderful explanation of that particular line, but to me, the chosen is like that series, Game of thrones. Catholics aren't just Christians, they're original Christians. All your favourite Saints and Church Fathers were Catholic. Catholics codified the Bible. It's laughable that a "pastor" with no Apostolic Succession has the gall to call the Seat of Peter "not Christian."

The prophet Isaiah clearly wrote that the Messiah would not be what anyone would consider to be a physically desirable man. That should always be a red flag to any sensible person who believes what the Bible has to say. The fact that very few ppl ever bat an eye at how handsome men always get the Christ role only goes to show how deceived even the "Christian" world is.
Lol, this is typical . Of course there must be a list of movies, shows, etc that are approved by the church council that presents itself here. I’ll wait…….
Tozer's essay is available in book form available for purchase. Priced to give away and sold in bulk. An excellent resource to share with your friends and family. We personally do not have a television nor do we ever go to theaters. I have seen the ad on UA-cam where Jesus is speaking to a woman at a well. I was uncomfortable mostly because I don't like seeing someone pretending to be Jesus. I believe it's the Holy Spirit telling me it's wrong.
Even if it's not perfect theologically, if it brings even one person who doesn't known Christ into a church where they can be discipled, it's a good thing.
Very good point! Did Jim Caviezel "perfectly" depict Jesus in The Passion? This critical logic impugns EVERYONE who ever played the role. Mel Gibson is also a "Catholic", so his "faulty theology" GUARANTEES that the film was "unfaithful", right?
That depends was Mel under the influence of God when writing it or an unclean spirit. And yes it has to be one or the other because the Bible says you can't serve two masters.
That was a horrible movie. And very catholic. Made by a man who swears he carries around a piece of the cross in his pocket. Probably was carrying it while committing adultery.
You are right, Human beings are trying to write a script about and act the part of the life of Jesus and his disciples. How dare they!!! They actually may have attempted to portray Jesus as an actual person with real emotion and even a little humor. Unthinkable!!! C'mon guys. Get off your high theological horse and stop tearing The Chosen apart. It is having an impact on many lives and allowing people to experience Jesus in a way they would never experience otherwise. I agree, drama (all kinds of art) must always remain true to scripture, and I believe the Chosen has done an excellent job in doing so. Please be careful in your own preaching that you never inject any supposition about what or why something may have happened in a Biblical account in an effort to help your listeners understand the context of anything Jesus may have said or done. Please do not try to creatively describe an event in such a way that your people will have to use their imaginations because they will have to actually create an image of Jesus in their mind because you would be causing them to break the second commandment. I always watch Biblical dramatizations with a careful and somewhat critical eye because I, like you, want the truth of the Gospel to be presented accurately. I believe The Chosen has done an extremely good job in pursuing that goal. Guys, please back off the condemnation.
"I am the Law of Moses is not just inaccurate, it's blasphemous! Why? Because Jesus never said it nor implied such a thing. But there are far more powerful direct quotes of Jesus...."I and the Father are one, if you have seen me you have seen the Father". And my personal favorite......BEFORE Abraham WAS, I AM!!!! Sorry but we are saved by faith alone in Christ alone.
Well said. There are SOME problems with the show for example a bit of feminism is pushed BUT who are we to limit God? Recently a pride flag showed up on set and Dallas DID NOT apologize and I am crushed by that but still I don't limit God in what he choses to use in the lives of people to change hearts. I am thankful for the show and I am thankful too for all the discussion that has cropped up around it AGAIN spreading the word of Christ and his influence. God bless
If nothing else, all the controversy amongst Christian’s will draw attention to Jesus… or won’t it? Hopefully convos like these compel unbelievers to seek the truth for themselves 🙏🏼
What Gabe is describing around the 30 minute mark with regard to the mad-lib theology-this is also the case with a lot of the music that is being sung corporately in your typical evangelical American church. The songs don’t objectively contain sound doctrine-the individual congregant singing it is filling in all of the holes themselves.

Exactly! Those movies had flaws, the Chosen has flaws and these two men have flaws, and cannot be counted on to have the perfect opinions. Christians have done a good job of being divided on beliefs long before the Chosen series. There are many denominations and they are all flawed. Read James 1:26-27

Thank you for sharing the gained clarity of your salvation in your testimony. It was pure gospel fact. It also validated whom the chosen really are. The calling of God to his chosen is likened to irresistible Grace. It is and effectual calling. Concerning this movie, I can't have any honest discernment because I never watched it. Yet, I had come to see the spiritual warfare in this age and the demonic agenda against our Lords kingdom. I don't need a motion picture produced by depravity to tell me what I already have seen with the minds eye through God's word and the help of His teacher, the Holy Spirit. The best of teachers among men ( which I believe are few ) are given a gift to open the minds eye to bring the student into such a thought that paints a greater picture than any motion picture could ever hope to do. Now with my 2cents, a person that is gifted to narrate and use punctuation properly, can narrate the Bible with emotions, that bring the listener into it, with no distraction from what an actor looks like, the background, or music. The Holy Spirit will be adequate enough in your minds eye, which I have come to experience to be most satisfying. This I speak is from experience, for I taught in a youth group from 9th to 12th grade. I witnessed a young man deep in thought by the Spirit as the Spirit guided my mouth. I was humbled from that, as the young man pushed back his chair and slumped into it while saying in a tone of amazement, ( This is deep ). There is no doubt in my person, that the Spirit painted a picture in that boys mind that he will never forget.
The show has some very good points but is as imperfect as we all are. Drama brings such an astounding impact to people and God works in many many ways and uses many things to bring people to him. I am glad he does. God bless.
Just here to say that while i dont watch the chosen much anymore. When i was first becoming a christian the chosen gave life to the scriptures and jesus in a cool way. It actually did have a part that lead me closer to jesus as the only way and it made me more intersted in the scriptures to read them myself. it definately made me love jesus more and i dont have a picture of johnathan roomie in my head when i think of jesus. And i didnt have any trouble discerning or separating the extra biblical or creative liscense they took in various parts. This being said, I havnt felt drawn to watch it as ive matured in the lord.
You guys remind me of the Pharisees of the show. I was a devout Hindu and the show proved to be a life turning experience for me and brought me close to Jesus. Had I not watched the show I would never have drawn closer to Jesus and it would have been the greatest tragedy of my life. There could be potentially thousands of new believers only if people like you learn to be more humble and polite.
As far as seeing Jonathan Roumie whenever reading the scriptures about Jesus, I haven’t encountered that. But I will say that just about every day when I think aboutJesus, I cannot get the picture of Christ out of my mind as portrayed in the Passion by Jim Caveziel. The flogging, the crown of thorns, the mocking, the blood, the utmost suffering. So if I always have that image in my mind, and not the true Jesus, has my mind been corrupted by a false image? This is acting, this is telling a story from one’s perspective of scripture. All in all, I think it paints a picture. In our day and age, our culture, most of us cannot really understand what it was like back then, and I think the Chosen has painted a sound and accurate picture of the times of Jesus and the disciples. I feel like I have a way better understanding now of why the Jews back then expected a warrior Messiah, rather than a poor ‘common folk’ (nothing common about Jesus) and how they were so oppressed by the Romans. I feel like I can understand the culture so much better now. And having a better understanding is definitely a plus in my personal spiritual growth. I’m not saying the Chosen is perfect, they do provide disclaimers, and it’s not a documentary, just a series that has pointed a lot of people to Jesus. And that is a good thing 🫶
Done with Christian media fads (e.g. The Purpose Driven…., The Chosen, Jesus Revolution, Heaven is for Real). Was disappointed to see A Chosen Bible study is now in the marketplace.
What you demonstrate in such a critique is life lived in a churchy-religious bubble. The only biblical phrase that currently comes to mind.... Woe... to you pharisees!!
I have had a few Christian friends tell me that I should watch this show, that it is wonderful. Something has stopped me from watching it, and that was before I watched this interview being critical of the show. Now I think it was because I knew it would lead to confusion in me. I am working on becoming more disciplined about studying the Bible and have been looking for resources teaching sound doctrine. I just know that for me personally, watching this show would not be helpful. I hope everyone's day is filled with peace.
Lol I love when you all use this verse, as though the enemy were this red satyr prancing about with his horns out, going “muwahahaha! gib me your soul!” The truth is that the enemy does not come in that manner: the enemy comes as an angel of light, as he sends his servants as ministers of God (ie, like this Gabe guy and Dallas Jenkins) to deceive the ignorant. And it’s working.
I watched five minutes of it and I’ve not seen anymore. I saw him representing AN EFFEMINATE JESUS and nothing like THE YESHUA I KNOW. ANYTHING…ANYTHING HOLLYWOOD PUTS OUT ABOUT YESHUA WILL MALIGNE HIM.
effeminate? where? I have watched many of these types of movies and love the fact that in this one, at least the actor looks like someone Jesus may have looked like instead of whoever it was that portrayed him in Jesus of Nazareth with blue eyes, emaciated body and someone who apparently never smiled or took joy in anything. Yes. I understand that they took a lot of license with dialog and they admitted this up front. I don't believe this is the first version to put words in the mouths of Jesus and the disciples. Everyone just needs to chill! If this series makes people take up their Bibles and read it again, then so be it!
Regeneration doesn't precede faith. David prayed, " Lord, take this heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh." God's GRACE precedes faith. By God's grace, He granted us the ability to choose Him, or reject Him. Romans tells us we can choose our own master; obedience with acquittal or sin with death. Jesus said when I am lifted up, I will draw ALL MEN to Myself. That being said, I would say definitely stay away from the Chosen for the simple fact that it's not the gospel. Period. Great video fellas.
I was ELATED to discover the haunted cosmos podcast, only to recently find this sister channel! Only to be TOTALLY repelled by this works-based, anti-grace rhetoric, as if God can’t work through our dark intentions to bring about utter light in SPITE of us… how RELIGIOUS of you!
I was a very young Christian when it came out and was really loving it until Grace To You put out a long post warning against it. I wasn't 💯 certain as to everything they were talking about but I trusted their thought on this series and never watched again. I've since learned so much about it and now know as to why so many of you men of truth are so spot on to why we should stay away from shows like these.
Bless you for challenging even more people to watch The Chosen! Your video is doing a wonderful job of backfiring on you! Pomposity and arrogance suit you!
Your reservations are understandable. The Chosen would probably do well in a disclaimer at the beginning, stating that it is but an artistic interpretation of the gospels, and it's always best to go to the source material.
God is divine, he can work to bring us to Him in any way He choses 🙏
You can disagree with the show, that is ok!

@Westy So.

So much for that dang ol 2nd commandment
The fact that Jenkins calls Mormons brothers/sisters in Christ, shows me he has no discernment. Mormons do not believe in the God of scripture. With Jenkins stating this make me wonder if he knows Christ, because he sees no difference.
And the works - based faith of Catholicism is a turn off too
While "The Chosen" may not be perfect, I'd say it's far better than watching anything by Bart Ehrman, James Tabor, or Simca Jacobovici.
The whole point of the show is bringing people closer to God. You are doing exactly what the Pharisees did to Jesus

And that is the issue. People could be getting their full understanding of Christ ONLY from the show without searching more.

If a person has no knowledge of the Bible and then watches the Chosen, is that better or worse than nothing at all? I think it´s a great step forward.
Also, in reality, the most common thing I hear and can myself testify to, is that the show creates a hunger for the Word of God. I don´t know a single person that love the show that have not also read the Bible more as a result of it.

The more you study the Bible, the more you will find that The Chosen is in total contradiction to what the Bible says.
What were your thoughts when you realized only 5% in The Chosen matched the Bible?
The chosen Jesus says more than once “follow your heart” Bible says.. don’t do that, follow Jesus and scripture. The heart is deceitful and wicked.
How can you give an opinion on The Chosen if you’ve never watched it ??
Chosen has lead people to the word. Period. I applaud the success of the series. Think I'll watch an episode now!
It’s lead me to realize how Great a God we have. Agreed 👍
Amen! And it's the gospel that is the power of God unto salvation

With all the evil messages that people have been being entertained with, we finally have people watching a show that is opening doors to people who might never spent a moment thinking about JESUS.
SEE! The show encourages many to open their Bibles, and many of those for the first time.
@@peter25681 Ha ha. Good one brother Peter. You are probably right. But in this case it was mostly the video that pastors Webbon and Hughes made that caused me to reread the Nicodemus passage.

The second commandment is this:
Ex 20:4-5 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them nor serve them" Notice that what is said is not about images of God, it is against images of anything in heaven or earth.
This can possibly be taken in 2 ways:

I would argue that the Chosen is breaking a commandment by representing the physical person of Christ, like other Jesus movies.
@@dale5497 the 2nd command is not about representation images. It's about creating images to be idols for worship. It's about intent. OK - so if you believe watching any movies where Jesus is portrayed is wrong, that is a completely different standard. When I watch movies with Jesus in them, I don’t worship the person portraying him.

@@grandmaryables It makes Matthew relatable. The fact is that the disciples were normal people like any of us. And they were called by Jesus!
I too enjoyed the 1st season. But as I watched the 2nd and 3rd seasons it seemed to embellish ideas into the scenes that are not necessarily biblical. I started out loving the series but now not a fan and very disappointed.
If you knew what the Bible says, you would know that to say The Chosen does not contradict the Bible is 100% wrong.
@Alice Susan Harding I have only seen the first season. Please give me an example if how it contradicts the bible.
If the show brings new people to the 'word' all power to the production..
Absolutely.
Right! We know a dyslexic new believer who gets something from it, though my husband and I told him to listen to audible Bible. I watched seasons 1-2 with enthusiasm and then season 3 with some bereans astuteness. I think it's important to remember that there's not many Christian productions out there and it's not supposed to be a replacement for the Bible nor narrate the Bible word for word.
Leading people to Satan’s word.
@@Landis_Grant i am new to the whole religious world.. What am I missing in the show!
I don't understand your Satan reference sorry.. how is the show worse than dealing drugs or hurting people (real Satan work)...it's a movie...surely, people don't read into anything too much...I certainly ain't going to think it's real...or telling the gospel in it's true theological meanings.
I am still learning my way around the Word.. but, I am not expecting too much real biblical truths from a movie...
@@leek1002 First of all, God’s Word is spelled with a capital W and Jesus is the Word. The Word is also the Bible. There’s really no such thing as Christian Entertainment done by fictionalizing Biblical events that never happened. If they aren’t in the Bible, they didn’t occur. Adding to the Bible is a serious sin that could get us cast into the lake of fire (refer to Revelation Chapter 22).
The producer and main script writer Dallas Jenkins is a willing servant of Satan who arrogantly said “I don’t care if you call me a blasphemer!” All of us who praised The Chosen and have recommended it to family and friends are complicit with the sin of idolatry and perverting the Word of God.
Taking "dramatic license" with the Bible is heresy. Putting words into the mouth of Christ is heresy. I watched about ten minutes of this show and could NOT stand it any longer!
I love The Chosen. Am elderly and have always been close to religion. The thing I love about the series is that it makes Jesus and the apostles real people. I notice your very expensive chair you are sitting in. Are you jealous that didn’t think of the series first? Any way we can get people to know love and serve God is good. It isn’t meant to be a ministers theology class but a program filled with love. I know many people growing closer to God because of this series. I will let my Lord and Savior be the ultimate judge when I meet Him!
Hello Margaret I loved how you said this. I’m in full agreement. Isn’t it lovely to watch a program that makes us WANT to read the Bible and downs time with the Lord? I’m so tired of the divisive people trying to tear it down. I lose respect quickly for the critics like these.
Yeah I was waiting for the Masterpiece Theater theme music to break out. What a chair. What a set….
You have to study it and rightly divide it, not wrest scripture and etc. The Chosen is heretical, presenting a false Jesus and a false gospel and lies do not lead to truth unless you reject them which clearly you have not done.
...Why are you throwing shade like that? Read like a veiled attempt at character assassination.
The Chosen does an excellent job of presenting the inspiration of scripture and more importantly, the inspiration of the Logos.
You would do well to learn from Nicodemus. The religious have a religion without power to transform from death to life.
I was just talking to a brother of mine from the church I attend about this topic after bible study. This conviction that you have received I have also received and I no longer, by the willow of God put myself in a situation that will make me admire someone over Jesus Christ and who He Is.

Very well said!
Out of all the things that does harm in the world to Christians and Christian Theology, I’m pretty sure The Chosen series wouldn’t even be in the top 10… 😒😒😒

These guys do a good job of depicting how the Pharisees must’ve been like in Christ’s day.
Haha so true!
And how they still exist today.
@@johnsavarese6365 did you study "the purpose driven life" at anytime?
Exactly ! They even show the houses of Pharisees... the house of Shammai and the house of Hillel. And if one studies these two houses of Pharisees, one will find many of Jesus' teachings even before Jesus was born. Jesus basically correctly divinely judges between the two houses.
Considering the number of people on here defending the show, goes to show blasphemy means nothing to them.
I hope you both take a good look at your real purpose in this.
Huh?
Their purpose is to make sure people know that there are issues with this series that not everyone sees.
And listen, bad theology perverts your life.
' I'm here to start a revolution '?
No
Not at all....

In the scene where Jesus is speaking with Nicodemus, 31:36 Jesus (played by Jonathan) says he came to deliver people from sin, spiritual death. I rewatched that scene to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. (Episode 7 26:51)
Jesus also asked Nicodemus in the same scene, "what does your heart tell you?"
@@Snowbeard hands down the biggest red flag I've seen. We can't preach the gospel with "what does your heart tell you?"

How do you know the depiction is wrong???? You have been to heaven and talked with our Lord. Come on…. You yourself have no idea. This is TV not gospel. You ever watch tv? Or listen to radio? Not gospel! Entertainment !!!!

Would Mel Gibson’s movie portrayal of Jesus come under the same criticisms?
Very good point! Did Jim Caviezel "perfectly" depict Jesus in The Passion? This critical logic impugns EVERYONE who ever played the role. Mel Gibson is also a "Catholic", so his "faulty theology" GUARANTEES that the film was "unfaithful", right?
That depends was Mel under the influence of God when writing it or an unclean spirit. And yes it has to be one or the other because the Bible says you can't serve two masters.
Yes "The Passion" has many of the same problems, not least of all it's full-on Catholic
I heard that actor that played Jesus was struck by lightning during filming
That was a horrible movie. And very catholic. Made by a man who swears he carries around a piece of the cross in his pocket. Probably was carrying it while committing adultery.
Thought religious entertainment was cheesy my entire life. The chosen is probably the best religious entertainment I’ve come across

Especially in NAR

Thank you for this podcast and for being faithful shepherds.
God bless.
Jesus didn't rehearse the "Sermon on the Mount" Jesus spoke in Authority, not asking Matthew for advice .

Regeneration doesn't precede faith. David prayed, " Lord, take this heart of stone and give me a heart of flesh." God's GRACE precedes faith.
