Tanglefoot... Kelly...I don't want to do things with the attacker...I want to do things to the attacker! I'm getting too old for all this. Trying to get back in half ass shape. Even so, combatives is only for last ditch emergency use due to age. I carry 2 Hellcats for 'pressure point' tools.
Kelly, can you address the use of closed hand combatives and what your view is currently. I have been a follow of yours since Combatives 1-2-3 with Paladin and the information and knowledge you have given me and my family is literally priceless. I utilize the skills and philosophy you teach everyday and so does my family. Would be really interested to know specifically combatives uses for boxing skills. Thank you! You ROCK!!
Kelly, a couple more thoughts; in one of your more recent videos you had mentioned that your guys using combatives were getting schooled by the boxers or kickboxers so I thought it would be nice to see your ideas on hybridizing combative elements with boxing elements. Or dealing with non preemptive striking situations which could arise and the fight is literally ON. I do have the Paladin Closed Hand Combatives DVD's (awesome information by the way and collectors classic!) but knowing that you continually evolve and evaluate would be very appreciated to see where you are now. Thank you so much look forward to your next video!
Great series of videos on the WWII combatives and the differences between the face smash, chin jab and straight palm strikes. Question: Do you teach the straight palm strike to your students, or just the chin jab and face smash?
In a similar vein to Marc's question, have you done (or do you plan to do) a similar video on the straight palm strike, or do you consider it too self-explanatory to merit it's own video? Also, as between the palm strike and the face smash, do you have any thoughts regarding circumstances when one might be a better choice than the other, if any exist? Thanks.
wondering if you guys over there have seen this "detroit threat management" guy on youtube showing all these wild gun disarms and techniques and if Mr Kelly has any opinions about this..would love to hear a general or brief commentary video about this in the future.
@@kembativzbrand9099 i just think back to what kelly said in a video years ago "If you think the guy is going to let you grab the weapon and do all these manipulations your crazy" still should do a video explaining how someones not going to leave a gun out there or let you get close enough to put hands on it....or to hold it still so you can jam the slide from preventing it to fire LOLL
Hi Kelly, I've been meaning to ask anyways and because you brought up being adrenalized, can we hear your take on adrenaline stress. How adrenaline stress effects in and out of the ring? How to train it and stay focused even when the game plan goes wrong? Is there a training guide would you recommend?
What do You think Sir what will be much more usefull on the Street situation, Boxing or maybe grappling like traditional jiujitsu when you use multi joint locks?
Start your training with striking(muay tai or boxing) then add grappling(juijitsu or wrestling). Fights start with strikes most often and if you’re lucky you don’t end up on the ground. You need to be proficient in both arenas. Unfortunately, in this day and age you need to be proficient with weapons as well. There is no short cut , you have to commit to self defense for the long haul. It’s worth it…Peace.
You need competency in both stand up and grappling. Statistics about what “happens” in street fights are purely anecdotal. You won’t go wrong with boxing/wrestling or Muay Thai/BJJ combinations.
@@kembativzbrand9099 thank You Sir, I have another question, coukd You record video how to handle with talerz opponent, when this opponet grapp victim woth straight hand, that I cant punch him and second hand he starts hit in face. Hiw yo handle with this type of situation. Its hard to kick him cause he shaking his opponent and hit him.
Hi Kelly, great to see you give your new perspectives on these techniques after all these years! Do you still recommend S.W.A.M.P. as the delivery system or have you changed that up a bit?
John Watson from the GHCA days came up with SWAMP which is basically Dempsey Drop (time footfall with impact). As an organization Bob Kasper thought it was important to support GHCA members and promote their concepts. That’s why when I was associated with them we all used it to describe power generation.
Kelly , love these “ old school “ combatives ..they never get old and are as relevant as ever !
Thank you so much! 🙏🏻
Great explanation of the Tiger 🐅 claw and how to use it with power and efficiency! Great job! I look forward to seeing more of your videos!
Kelly is one of the original Combative Masters and it's compelling to see these techniques, performed and explained in such detail by him-thank you.
Thank you Jonny 🙏🏻
This guy is so good it's frightening
Good to see you still at it Sir. I still remember and remain proficient at what you taught me 35 years ago. Thank you! “Big O” 3rd SOC USMC

I’m loving this video series.
Great succinct info with no fluff.
Awesome, as always!
Great video series.
thanks for the precision about the difference between face mash, plam strike and chin jab
Thank you for viewing! 🙏🏻
Great job super skills
Great job 👍 super skill
Uncle Kelly can you pretty please make us videos again like this video.
Thanks! Simple is good,!
The piston face mashes (briefly shown in the old dvd's), seem to have been replaced by the eye jabs and the 'modified' chin jabs
This guy's the business
Superb, as usually.
Thank you, sir! 🙏🏻
Exceptional - thank you Sir!

This is easy when you understand the mindset

I teach them all those strikes and let them decide which work best for them, Marc. 🙏🏻

Kelly, you guys once came out w/ a DVD product for using Combatives in a car; is that still available?
I have the master and it will be rereleased at some point

Frank Chaos - Great Question
Do you see any uses for a foot trap in close engagements?
Not to say they can’t happen, and I know people who train these regularly - we do not include them in our curriculum.

The jab is faster than the face smash and helps to increase distance
Not disagreeing, the video is about WWII era Combatives techniques.
