Buffalo Being Raised On Southeast Georgia Farm

- A Southeast Georgia farm is raising American bison, or buffalo, as animal once native to Georgia. As Mark Wildman explains, they're working to make the state native habitat once again.
I love buffalo. Beautiful animals.
Every time I passed them by on the highway 95 north I would see them. People would say you’re crazy there are no buffalo in Georgia! Ha! I have proof now! They are so cute. 😍
Bring the bison back! I think more ranchers should raise buffalo instead of cows. Use their pelts and their meat. Their meat is healthier. The bison is native- less damage to the ecosystem compared to the cow, and I believe they also release less greenhouse gases. Very aweinspiring animals. Saw some in a pasture when I was driving on the highway. My family didn't believe me when I said "there are bison!". Nobody else saw them before we passed, unfortunately.
My 11 year old daughter helps to round them up. She is 90 pounds, in jeans and a tee shirt, has basic sneakers on, and likes to stand there with her arms crossed. No head gear, no rope, no safety whatsoever..lol seems legitimate
I'd like to start farming. Organic veggies too
Neat!! How much land per buffalo is needed?
Cheryl Dahl I think 5 acres
Actually they are no different than cows. Usually 1.5 to 2 acres per cow/calf pair.
cool
