I had the same issue. You have to cut in the independent via a small switch on the back of the center console. There's no tutorial or mention of it in the game. I had to Google it to figure out why they wouldn't release

Even some of the newer scenarios have similar issues. I ran into an issue with one of the recent British routes a while back where I couldn't get the brakes on my train to release, and after 20 minutes of poking around I finally realized that the locomotive was set to vacuum brake mode while hooked up to air braked cars, and I don't think the tutorials ever mentioned the brake selector at all.

After this mess, you should try the Searchlight Simulations diesels for Train sim. Either the CP AC4400 or BNSF SD40-2. They're very well scripted and simulated.
It's when I see the actual professional play games that are suppose to simulate their jobs that I can clearly see that there is a big difference between gamers and actual professionals. Gamers will read up the rule of the game and try to follow them while the job professionals get confused because they see all of the flaws that the game made in comparison to the real deal. Reason I know being a train operator is a lot harder than what the game let's on, no matter how good I get at playing the game/simulator.

from the Famous words of Gandalf "You Shall Not Pass" over the Crossing haha TSW2=a Broken horrible unrealistic Railroading Experience only made to look Pretty. I worked 37 years in a Yard and never heard a Horn blow in the yard like wtf. If didn't know this game doesn't follow anything as to real life, when it makes you stop a mile away from a switch for 3 cars your pulling shows how stupid it is. Once you start a mission it's the basic simple formula of Drive from A - To - B maybe one signal stop and that's it. Passenger trains are the only thing good in game but aren't real. For a game that Calls itself a Simulator there really isn't any Sim in it besides some of the Timetable as where Run8 is a True Simulator Railroading game. Some of the units need you to turn ON Banking Com in order to run right you know.

Ehm I'm going to join the probably 200 pthers pointing out thst you had your break cut out set to passenger instead of freigh, since tsw does not seap to use gp38/sd50s in to many passanger services mayby the passenger cut out is poorly modeled

Yes, this game needs a lot of polishing but for a console player (PS4 Pro) who likes trains, this is all I have. The devs are from the U.K. so have a limited knowledge of our railroads I guess.
Saluda , best wreck spot in the world, that's why NS abandoned it, over 4% grade medium freights with 17,600 hp on each end and sometimes in the middle also.
It took me a while to figure out out too, but the Dovetail developers so Livestream at least twice a week, helping users figure all this out and answering questions. "Train Simulator" channel on UA-cam.
I ran into a problem where the train couldn't move until it's at notch 4 when the brake lever is at release position and slows down rapidly if you pull power at notch 3 or less. I think it's a bug that causes that problem. I thought the bug was fixed by now because I found this bug several months ago. I wanted to report the bug but I don't know how to do so.
You said they need to have had at least two divorces? Can you smell the diesel smoke and Kenosha from here? ((Mmmm paperwork and single malt). Pure gold
I have several hours in this game on PC and I never noticed the magic rolling stock hand brakes until I watched this video. I'll have to try that later.
I did the same exact thing when pulling the cars out of the track. They not only set the automatic to cut out but all controls were set to trail so you have to turn the independent to lead 🤣 I had the whole thing roll away after I hooked in, because I got out to check the handbrake.
This is on xbox and you have to face the brakes then unaply then this game is annoying but fun for me and dont worry thay are apaerently adding a Steam loco soon
So, maps use it. And don't you work on a railroad?SO, THEN WHYYYYYYYYY WOULD YOU ASSUME HAND THROWN SWITCHES SET YOU UP AUTOMATICALLY!?!?!?!? Please try the clinchfeild Under Powered scenerio. You get to drive notch eight the hole grade of 3%.
TBH Hyce, you should have jumped right into a service, cut in the Ind, and toggle on PCS. You are too smart for the tutorial. It's a unique problem with TSW2, each time you start a new route you have to go through the route intro and they are built for someone with no experience (hence the no ind brake or dynamic, look around, use the camera, etc.). The service mode really is for the enthusiast, you can have all your safety systems, start from cold and dark, and there is no scripting to mess with schedule or route timing (PZB on German Routes can override scripted timing for example). TSW2 isn't perfect, but it is a solid experience in my opinion.
That makes a lot of sense. I would've assumed there would've been a briefing of some sort up front about that but I suppose not. Lol. For the next video! Haha
Have you tried Diesel Railcar Simulator? A remarkably good one-man effort, which is supposed to be physics-led. Watch the axleboxes moving as you drive...
The collectibles thing is weird. It is interesting to look for things along the route but most things tend to be far out of the job role of a driver like fixing the lights on the Tees Valley Line, I set up a custom scenario with the Metro-Cammel class 101 where I was just calling at each station to collect posters and lights just casually driving along with a box of fluorescent light bulbs in the cab.
u are the one he said think u know what u talking about coz u drive train sim but really u no nothing u never worked tees valley railroad so u never drove 101 with bulbs in the cab
It's weird that you critique Dovetail when the controls are way more detailed then DV, I'd rather play with American and European Trains then Serbian and Bosnian like in DV.
I think it's about presentation of what it is. Derail valley is tongue and cheek right in the name - one doesn't expect a perfect sim from them. Train sim world 2 is supposed to be an immersive first person true sim that really captures the feeling, and it just doesn't. The critique is not solely based on detail, it's about delivering on the mission.
running with the door open cause we want bees..... that really got me. XD Also, would i be right in thinking you were less than "immersed"? you said "this is stupid" many times this video lol.
It is not enjoyable to watch you condescendingly mock a 2 year old game for not precisely matching the real world in current day in every conceivable detail. This was the snobbiest thing I've ever seen and I am irrationally angry
It was fun watching you make fun of the sim, even though I had no idea what you were talking about for most of it. (maybe I should watch the diesel 101 video)
There were a few things that I was complaining about that didn't even make it into the 101 video (PCS aka Pressure Control Switch being one) but a lot is in there.
When i saw the Spirit of Steam trailer, I also immediately thought "I wonder what Hyce is gonna point out as blatantly wrong" And yeah, the CSX scenario is pretty bad. Would you believe the Europe-based game developer would do European scenarios better...
I would imagine it would be more accurate than some earlier DLC routes as the dev team are UK based and will have had a lot more input from heritage railways and owners of surviving examples.
Unfortunately, this game has sloppy written all over it in many places. Optimization tends to be really bad, and the graphics require a lot of polish too. The Sand Patch Grade scenario is an example of all the problems this game has. Dovetail really shot themselves in the foot by making this and the barebones Tube scenarios two out of three for the default ones. The only decent starter scenario really is the German one. The European and British scenarios tend to be more polished and have more content than this - I have a fondness for the latter, myself, with all the classic diesel locos they have. Also, if you try out any of the passenger scenarios, don't even bother trying to stick to the timetable - I've tried plenty, and I think the timetables don't match up to what is actually possible in-game. If you stick to the rules, anyway - overspeeding severely is often the only way to do things on time, on the lines where it's possible to hit it in the first place. The West Somerset scenario is a good example of this, where 80% of the line has a speed limit of 25 MPH - and sticking to 25 MPH, making good time is flat-out impossible. In fact, sticking to 31-35 MPH seems to be a requirement to not be late. I have a feeling Dovetail just took real/historical timetables, and didn't adjust them to the in-game tracks and vehicles.
Okay, now that I've gotten around to watching it... I never even noticed the magic handbrakes, I did wonder how they were always in the right position lmao
Personally despite having 3 american DLCs, I don't really play them. I practically always play the British GBR ones or the German DB ones as they seem to have had a lot more care put into them and personally I love the safety systems they have like the PZB90 or ATPS.
That switching session with the gps might be bugged. Make sure you have the trailing engine set to trailing and likewise with the lead because TSW loves making you do other people's jobs. The independents aren't working because the MU2A isn't cut in. And the engines do eventually load faster especially the dlc stuff.
The fact that Derail valley has more accurate coupling/air brakes than this is sad
Derail valley is just better in general lmao, plus its more fun
TSW2 has way more modern tracks switches and more accurate and advance controls then Dv:\
UK brake simulation in TSW is a lot more accurate from what I have experienced especially with vacuum

This combined with many many many MANY other bugs and disappointments is what finally made me quit.
My best advice is this: refund it
I had the same issue. You have to cut in the independent via a small switch on the back of the center console. There's no tutorial or mention of it in the game. I had to Google it to figure out why they wouldn't release
... what
@@Hyce777 Lol, yeah. If you're sitting in the engineer seat and you look just to the left of the independent lever on the edge of the console, there's a little switch that you have to click to "cut in" the independent. Unsure if that's the correct terminology

@@bigdikboiCJ The Westerns were based down on the Great Western region on London St Pancras - Penzance services. The only reason they don't appear on the express services layer of the West Cornwall Local DLC where they belonged is because it was set too late for them having featured 150s from the 1980s when Western region hydraulics were all withdrawn by the late 70s except Warship D818 "Glory" which was sat at Swindon until 1985 before it was scrapped.

Its a pretty good game imo, Especially for being the only proper train simulator on Consoles.
Also, they need to do more American Content.
Not gonna lie you make me laugh. Subbing.
I've played this and it always says everything is set up but Everytime I load up it's never set, so open your map and check to points to make sure they are set for the like your susoosded to take, and check hand brakes of trailing locomotive and all that engine isolation switch is set to run, it's under the fuses, also the cabs have lights and you can turn them on if you zoom ok it's switch, they are on the roof, on Xbox you can press on left stick for a free cam
But this game has mutpli routes with mutpli locomotives and they plan to add some British steam on the 27th
If the brakes are stuck fiddle with the cutouts, either trail 26 or trail24 and 6
I dont know why , black magic now instead of fairy magic handle XD
The people who modeled those locomotives look at the independent brake as doctors look at the appendix. They're no really sure why is there.
Hyce can you play the newer train sim world 3 Cajon Pass with BNSF trains?
After this mess, you should try the Searchlight Simulations diesels for Train sim. Either the CP AC4400 or BNSF SD40-2. They're very well scripted and simulated.
It's when I see the actual professional play games that are suppose to simulate their jobs that I can clearly see that there is a big difference between gamers and actual professionals. Gamers will read up the rule of the game and try to follow them while the job professionals get confused because they see all of the flaws that the game made in comparison to the real deal.
Reason I know being a train operator is a lot harder than what the game let's on, no matter how good I get at playing the game/simulator.
hyce you have to turn the knob on the side of the control stand to lead or dead
yeah
It'd be hilarious if you did a video of just you screwing up as much as you can in here.
Going to be interesting to see how they implement the steam locomotives with the upcoming DLC. It looked like a stanier black 5 with the BR logo.
that is br dlc so it is only acurate if everything dosent work
I love that the term by the man in the industry is choo choo
3 seats in the Cab??? = must be a Training Loco.
empty Coal Drag, guess CSX has heard about your Railroad Operating Habits.
a loco with NO independent Brake???
might want to send a message to the Dev's about the complete lack of Independent brakes!!!!
this is getting painful!
your Cars are possessed by Poltergeists!!!
from the Famous words of Gandalf "You Shall Not Pass" over the Crossing haha TSW2=a Broken horrible unrealistic Railroading Experience only made to look Pretty.
This makes me so happy that RRO and Derail Valley exist.
ROFL 24:57, you have found the most ridiculous bug of Train Sim World.
I was hoping that one day Train Sim would become a somewhat realistic simulator as I kept buying into the original series and this one only to keep getting disappointed.
Oh well, it satisfies my sadomasochistic necessities.
Ehm I'm going to join the probably 200 pthers pointing out thst you had your break cut out set to passenger instead of freigh, since tsw does not seap to use gp38/sd50s in to many passanger services mayby the passenger cut out is poorly modeled
Hyce No one ever said that Train Sim World 2 was the end all be all of perfect Simulation I play these train sim games and even i know that Were I to find another Railroading Job I would have SOOOOOO Much to learn But I would be at least be able to go I understand this this and this and if any of that is wrong please tell me so I can unlearn Video Game BS and learn Real railroading
Motion blur, SPEED!!! I was absolutely flat lined through this whole video. I cannot stand the inaccuracies of this sim
You said they need to have had at least two divorces? Can you smell the diesel smoke and Kenosha from here? ((Mmmm paperwork and single malt). Pure gold
I love how you sound just so tired with this game, like just making fun of every little thing is just perfect lmao
You know what will be amazing is when they should add electric sparks on each track.
As someone who wasted money on this because I have a shit computer and its available on console, thanks for showing me the inaccuracy of this game lol
This is on xbox and you have to face the brakes then unaply then this game is annoying but fun for me
and dont worry thay are apaerently adding a Steam loco soon
At least they have the correct hillstart procedure in the tutorial… a couple notches ahead.
I'm loving all the snarky comments. The signals always bugged me, one of many annoyances in this game.
Hey Hyce, this summer I might go to the Colorado Railroad Museum
You were monoluging during the second scenario that’s why it failed you! XD
So, maps use it. And don't you work on a railroad?SO, THEN WHYYYYYYYYY WOULD YOU ASSUME HAND THROWN SWITCHES SET YOU UP AUTOMATICALLY!?!?!?!? Please try the clinchfeild Under Powered scenerio. You get to drive notch eight the hole grade of 3%.
lol, noted.
Hyce has PTSD from BNSF and playing this game only amplified it
We arent going to talk about how unrealistic the locomotive sounds are
TBH Hyce, you should have jumped right into a service, cut in the Ind, and toggle on PCS.
I haven't! I'll have to add that to the list.
7:32 Hey look it's the sad conductor's great grandson!
XD
Also, would i be right in thinking you were less than "immersed"? you said "this is stupid" many times this video lol.
Wasn't quite there, lol.
36:00 you must check how the switches are set (either on foot or by the map).
It is not enjoyable to watch you condescendingly mock a 2 year old game for not precisely matching the real world in current day in every conceivable detail. This was the snobbiest thing I've ever seen and I am irrationally angry
I mean, it was tongue in cheek fun the whole way through. Not sure who pissed in your wheaties this morning but I hope your day gets better.
I was laughing my ass off when you made me realize Derail Valley has a more consistent tutorial.
16:29. Just like you set the train brake, you must set the independent.
There's gotta be a story behind the whole "we want bees" with the door open lol
When is episode 2 where you drive European trains and complain about how you can't complain because you don't know shit about European trains
Lol soon enough
So if this game doesn't teach me how to properly run a loco will you teach me?????
That is the point of this channel, yes
Holy- I haven’t played this in a long time
When you said, you can't even look into the toilet, I thought, when Railroad Online get passager cars, will the have toilets?
Good question, lol!
Not real enough.... There should be a feature where you get to walk around to look for trainmasters hiding in the weeds looking to fire you 🤷♂
Lmao
That would have it about on par.
I've had a great time enjoying this video. Lots of laughs here... Keep it up. Cheers!
36:00 Hyce looked back because he smelled Kenosha lol
I chalk this up to a bad sim? Yeah let's chalk it up to a bad sim.
36:00 looks like you forgot to flip the switches. You can flip switches and see what tracks you're supposed to be on when you use the map.
no dispach failed there job
When i saw the Spirit of Steam trailer, I also immediately thought "I wonder what Hyce is gonna point out as blatantly wrong"
And yeah, the CSX scenario is pretty bad. Would you believe the Europe-based game developer would do European scenarios better...
I would imagine it would be more accurate than some earlier DLC routes as the dev team are UK based and will have had a lot more input from heritage railways and owners of surviving examples.
here's hoping, my friend...
@@el_sheppe It will be better than Sand Patch Grade for sure
In a cw4400ac their is a chair in the middle in real life
The guy in that GP38-2 is not scary compared to the one I saw inside the Gas Turbine in Train Simulator.
That switching session with the gps might be bugged. Make sure you have the trailing engine set to trailing and likewise with the lead because TSW loves making you do other people's jobs. The independents aren't working because the MU2A isn't cut in. And the engines do eventually load faster especially the dlc stuff.
Oh... I thought this game was pretty nice, but train man says it's all wrong.
There are some nice things about it! It was a good bit of fun, despite... it being it.
