I have a Catholic friend who has been doing this. He told me he was going to be off of social media for a while, but I just now looked into what he was doing. This is awesome. I only wish I could tell him that I’ve been making my way to Catholicism the last month since we spoke. I just saw that his wife’s cancer went into remission also. Praise God.
I completed my Exodus 90 three years ago. I have continued in the Exodus program, and it has been great. Try it you will like it. and by the way, I am 77 years old so it is not just for the young tough guy.
Thanks for that Bas. Let's see how we are at day 60, 70 and so on. First week is novelty, then the reality of no social media, no sweeties, not drink etc. sets in. But the reality is if we can't give them up then we're addicted and no longer masters of our passions. God bless you and good luck.
Bro… I literally just prayed for God to surround me with strong friends, people I can look up to and take guidance from and boom I see this video on FB which leads me to search it on YT lol. It’s not quite what I had in mind since Bas isn’t my real life friend but, nonetheless I see how God is working. Thank you for letting Him use y’all to reach others.
The mention of "magnanimity" (e.g., excellence) at the end indicates that this guy knows Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. See you all later. Going monk mode for 90
I do Lenten fasting too, but I'm not religious. I did a big one first where I gave up drinking and smoking and went vegan. Now I do tiny ones and give up chocolates or whatever. Fasting is a good practice. It's important to dedicate yourself to strict discipline sometimes for a period of time that you know will end. It's like a long form of meditation where you decide what to focus on, and I believe it has benefits as a form of mental exercise.
It's about purification and sanctification. So we can save our souls. Nothing more. It's not a challenge or a diet. It's a journey to holiness so that we may find God and His One True Catholic Church.
One disagreement. YES this is Catholic. Not about being "good person" or any of that nonsense. This is about breaking our attachment to sin, sanctify ourselves and grow closer to God so we can save our souls from the fires of Gehenna.

I love this guy, thank you Bas
Excellent. Exodus 90 is a blessing. Make sure you find at least 1-2 other guys you can regularly meet with to challenge and encourage one another.
This clip and listening to Fr Mike Schmitz recommend Exodus 90, is the reason I joined.

I don't get it. Cold showers makes you a tough guy? Imagine the poor people who get nothing but cold showers
They don't have a choice. His point is about making conscious decisions to detach ourselves from our comforts and make sacrifices.
Pathetic.
