The most diverse, unromantic, hetero non-power couple Dulé Hill and James Roday Rodriguez ( Psych) join me this week on the show.
The guys talk about the sustained success they’ve been able to build off of Psych throughout the years on set by not taking themselves too seriously, respecting all cast and crew to a high degree, and treating everyone with the humanity they deserve.
Later in the show, both guys open up on the emotionally heart breaking, yet inspiring, experience of seeing one of their brothers/ cast-mate Tim Omundson suddenly get hit with a fight for his life after an unexpected stroke. This episode has it all, laughs, emotion, rawness… hope you folks enjoy.

This is one of my favorite shows. The onscreen and offscreen chemistry could be felt. The writing was so clever and funny. I am definitely up for more Psych movies.

TBH I just discovered Psych during pandemic... I watched all the seasons. It is so great. But what I love the most is the realness, love, humility and wisdom of James and Dulé. Thank you so much you two...I will keep coming back for life.

Psych’s use of actors who were ubiquitous in the 80’s was brilliant.
Seeing “Roday Rodriguez” in the Psych 2 credits was very powerful.
I rewatch this show at least once a year and it’s mostly because of these two! Lassie Jules and the woodman also help, all time favorite show!
What a good episode. Psych is one of my all time favorite shows. It was always clever without taking itself too seriously. Shawn and Henry had a relationship I wish I had with my father. I love James and Dulé like I know them personally, and I come back and rewatch the series once a year. This podcast has helped me realize I'm not alone in my struggles. Thank you, Rosey.

As a HUGE Psych fan who's also had a str_ke, it's really touching how the cast acted as a family and showed up for Tim. It's really hard to put into words how...important it is to have support and people to fight for and it's also important to bring awareness to str_kes - they don't just happen to old people or out of shape people. Knowing the signs can save someone's life.
My dad is a stroke survivor. I am definitely looking forward to watching that one next week.
My brother had one at 37 but he passed away from him. Northridge hospital did nothing for him for hours until we finally got a helicopter to UCLA and it was too late. He was in a coma for 10 days. He was my best friend. Shocked me so bad that could happen to a healthy young person.

My favorite episodes are Dual Spires and Viagra Falls. Psych is the best. If I watch Monk, I have to watch Psych and vice versa. They are like peanut butter and jelly.
Dual Spires was GENIUS! The cameos had me screaming.

Absolutely love psych, go to show during my formative years, alongside Smallville, Monk and Supernatural. Always a treat to have Dule & James on together, only made better with Rosenbaum interviewing!

Great interview! I started to re-watch Psych with my family back in March and its been an awesome ride, brining some light through the pandemic.
This podcast was phenomenal, I just love how REAL they were on here, while still keeping you happy, and giving you life lessons.

That was a great, deep conversation. Also, excellent description of these two. Psych is an absolute favourite and helped me during my own tough hospitalization and recovery. The genuine fun they have making Psych and care for one another is evident and I am there for Psych 10: Shawn loses his hair. 😉

I loved Psych when it was on TV and still watch today. Such a great show and lovable characters.
I love this podcast. Michael, you just keep knocking the ball out of the park. keep it up dude. I prefer this podcast over Joe Rogan. I love the way he brings up info about life, himself, anxiety, health, 80s films and music ( my favorite decade), relationships, and adds humor.
You guys kind of danced around something I discovered in my own life years ago. I'm 50 now, but sometime in my late 30s I stumbled onto a realization that I no longer wanted to argue.
I enjoy healthy debate, I like talking with people who think and believe differently than I do... I can always learn something and maybe they can too... BUT, I don't want to argue. Civil discussion and disagreement are cool... but at the end of an argument all I am is frustrated. IF I lose an argument then it was a waste of energy... and even if I win an argument, what did I win? IF I had to get that riled up to win, was it worth it?
I finally decided back then the answer to that was not really.

James Roday is I think a year younger than me. He was clearly influenced by the same great 80s stuff that I was growing up. So much of Psych speaks to my likes and nostalgia and I will always keep coming back to watch it every year or so.
The entire interview was awesome - Psych is my favorite comedy of all time! Currently watching it again for the umpteenth time. Always brings me joy.
But your impressions in the last few minutes were gold- glad I stuck around!
When I read comics and Lex shows up, your voice is what is in my head Michael.
Watching this in April 2022, knowing that Psych 3 has already been released,, makes this podcast more fun.
Psych is one of my favorite shows. My kids and I have watched every episode at least 4 times. Great cast and awesome writing. I hope there is more to come.

Michael, 10 months late, but you really were what brought that show together.
I was worried them bringing in Lex like that was going to be just pandering, but you made it believable his decent into madness.
I also loved the twist of making Lex and Clark friends at first, when they didn't know any better. Very interesting dynamic for later stories in that show.

I love psych. It’s by background go-to show to keep the mood positive, feed me with positivity so I can keep making my art, the story and dynamic between characters leaves me wishing psych had continued. The movies are a great follow up but having more seasons would have been amazing! Love you guys. Thanks Rosie for interviewing them again.
psych is one of my most rewatched shows. it's completely underrated and has one of the best if not the best representation of a true friendship. I always watch it when I feel down, it never fails to cheer me up and make laugh. I love psych immensely.
So fun. First, when speaking about handling the pandemic, the experience is shared. This year has been an eye opening, self reflecting, reset for sure. almost with a sense of guilt for not experiencing the “negativity” this crazy time is bringing to some. Next, psych is one of those shows that feels so natural and fun to watch that it reminds my of my own goofy friends. It never gets old to watch the reruns. Keep it coming as long you got in in yas!

I’ve watched a lot of James’ interviews and I’ve noticed how different he is from Shawn. He’s a funny guy, but he’s normally stoic. I think he’s more like his Gary character from AMLT.
