I’m in my final year of med school and in Ireland, one of if not the main cause of death in men under 30 is suicide. We have a severe problem with the stigma of talking about mental health. The week the last podcast with Stephen came out, nine young men came into the clinic I was working in looking for help with anxiety and depression, because they heard the podcast. That was just the first week; more came. Some of them didn’t even know what they were experiencing were panic attacks, until they heard what Stephen went through and were encouraged by the following conversation to seek help. Conversations between men who are celebrities, sharing raw experiences, inspires conversation and I’m not exaggerating in saying, saves lives. Thank you for allowing us to be privy to what you went through and if in the off chance that Michael reads this I just wanted to let you know the real life impact the podcast made across the pond.

Stephen in March: Fan ask "Will you ever come back just as a guest or crossover event?" - Nope, I'm done, said all I've need to say Stephen in October: "Maybe we should make another season?". Just goes to show, never ask someone who has just finished a marathon when they would like to schedule another race or asking a woman who just had a baby that day "honey should we try for another one?". Their not going to feel very inclined.
True. He did tell Michael he was just exhausted from everything. For sure when you haven't had a day off in 6 years you aren't going to say hey lets do that again.
@@aliciaborth3016 Well it's clear that he is the type of guy that just can't sit still for a long time and be satisfied. But 8 years + however much prep there was between making the pilot and then when the work on the actual show started. And the fact that they where doing 23 episodes for the first 5 seasons is bound to make you exhausted. It's why I think every CW show should follow the black lightning model. Do 16 episodes per season that way the actors get enough time to miss it, while also being able to do other things or just take the time to relax between seasons depending on how much they want to work. Sure for most people being able to have that big of a break because you are making a lot of money isn't an option. But if you are working 12-16 hour days from august to late april or even mid may. With only a short holiday break inbetween even if you already lived there, it would be alot to ask of anyone especially when ur starting a family. Yes the money is nice and when your kids are really young, and when they become teenagers wanting to be away from their parents you can do that more. But look at people who do voice acting, I keep hearing the same story over and over, someone was on a hit show for a set number of years and realized they missed so much of their first kids ubringing that they decided to slow down once they got their second kid.
@BeyondEnchantment Actually that is incorrect, both Legends and Black Lightning both started and continues to have shorter seasons because they have more than one person that is considered number 1 on the callsheet, and they put more money into production per episode. Routh after they made season 1, said he thought going in that jumping from Arrow to Legends, with lower episode count that it would be less work because it would be divided among the cast and he started working more because they were almost always in scenes together. As for Stargirl they can't raise the episode count because it started on DC universe and they can't afford the budget needed to keep the effects be on the same level as season 1. The only new show that won't last is Batwoman unless they really manage to clean up the mess season 1 created, Black Ligtning will make it to 100 episodes at least. Superman and Lois will probably become their number one show next year. While Flash has the biggest chance of making it 10 seasons, since I still believe that they will find a way to make the 2024 date mean somthing, even though the meaning has to be changed. It's also why they are adding so many cast members that they don't have to pay as much. They want Grant to get a decent amount of recovery time, instead of having to be in almost every scene so that he is willing to renegotiate his contract after this season. Just look at what happened with Amell after season 5 and they no longer had to do the flashbacks.

I've binged on the entire Arrowverse since I started self-quarantine back in March. When Arrow came out, I wasn't very excited TBH; The Flash was more my thing. I loved the first Flash/Supergirl crossover so much that I thought I'd just binge on those two shows while I was home. Then, I thought, if I was going to do it right, I should watch the entire Arrowverse in order. So, I have. What they did with the Green Arrow was very cool. Personally, I'd like to see more of Oliver Queen as Spectre.
Thank you Michael for bringing Stephen back. I admired his interview where he had a panic attack on air then coming back to explain why he had one. Seeing your favorite actor or actress deal with the same things we fans do is so refreshing.. Jared Padalecki's interview made me feel so much closer to him. You are amazing at your job, Michael. I am very glad Steven got through this and is healthy now. It is not fear mongering when we talk about what can happen because it’s so different for each person. I am a nurse and I seen this disease be extremely different and people who seem to be very similar in medical condition prior to getting this disease. Thank you thank you for speaking out about getting Covid.

Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover were the best interpretation of the Luther family ever known to date. Your parts on Smallville by far were the most complex in the show and many different shows in my opinion. It would be fun to see you take your place in more shows or movies. Hearing Stephen's Covid experience is strangely calming to me. I've had serious anxiety this entire year (for obvious reasons) and while I know the risk is still there, hearing you guys talk about it makes me think "it's gonna be all right." So thank you Michael.

Any doctor who's ever filled out a death certificate understands that there are always comorbidities and contributing factors. It's always better to be safe than sorry, social distanxr, wear masks but you still have to live your life stress and being scared everyday and cooped up at home (unless your elderly) think about the all the negative effects that causes. What boggles my mind is the that no one pays attention to if covid-19 wasn't a wake up call to eat healthier exercise more and try to get in the best shape/nutrition advise Stephen Amell gives, if covid 19 doesn't scare you into doing that nothing will.

I used to feel the same way before COVID happened about people coming into my job with the flu or cold. Why would you go out and spread your germs ! I gotta work! Colds made me miserable where I was barely able to work. I would lose most times two nights of sleep. Also, My mom had to get hospitalized a couple of times for a simple cold because of her lung issues. I say masks should be worn not just for COVID, but for the flu and the cold as well. The flu and colds can kill immune compromised and high risk people too. I think it’s hypocritical to wear masks for COVID and not for colds and flus to protect high risk, immune compromised people.
Stephen Amell is the undisputed Green Arrow ever to be enacted on the screen, similar parallel would only be Christopher Reeve aka Superman. Thank you Michael for getting this champion human being on your podcast not just once but twice. Kudos to Stephen for rekindling the faith in comics alive.
All this while, Superman has always been my favorite DC hero. But Stephen's version of Oliver Queen changed that. For the first time, I prefer Oliver Queen over Clark Kent. I don't care how different he is from the comic, what I do care is how a character could give a long lasting impact to me, to the point that I don't want anybody else to play that same character. Stephen did deliver in that sense. Just like Micael for Lex and RDJ for Iron Man.
As a wrestler the training can get super rough and to train for muscles and gains on top of pro wrestling it's awesome that he's getting a proper feel of what wrestlers go through.

Your appearance on Theo Von's podcast is what originally alerted me to the existence of this show. I've since been fiendishly going through every episode and I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of the content. Bobby Lee is an absolute legend, Chris Hardwick had me feeling like he and I go to the same therapist, and Stephen is a true gem of a human being.

The indoor transmission rate is a lot more than they thought. A new study demonstrated how even masks indoors and exposure times are not what they expected.
I consider it to be my moral responsibility as a decent human being to CARE. I absolutely HATE wearing masks. My glasses fog up, my face gets hot and sweaty, my ears ache and the straps mess with my hearing aids, I have breathing difficulties ... but I still wear a freaking mask! I'm at extremely low risk as I live in an isolated Canadian village of 600 people and rarely come out of my house (I'm an introvert and I don't really have reasons to go out). I'm 25 and have a strong immune system. I have made the choice to not physically go to church service or physically get together with extended family. I'm at very low risk of getting covid but I am still diligent in following guidelines because I CARE. I'm surrounded by elderly and older people in my village, whom I know and would not wish a cold on.
@@thefurycommander1843 Why not enforce it though? It's not an issue of going against religious or political beliefs, it's backed by science. It's logic. They enforce the laws of traffic (for example stopping at a crosswalk), as well as enforcement of licences for driving and hunting and gun ownership etc. They enforce food, weapons, drugs etc from entering countries because of the negative impact it could have on the country. What's the likelyhood that your food will drastically effect the country negatively? It's likely very low but you never know so they don't want to take the chance. These rules, laws and enforcements are for other people's safety and the good of the nation, it's not just for your safety and interests. The pandemic effects everyone and we should all do our part to lessen the spread. It's not a political or religious belief issue, it's LOGICAL and anyone who complains about the slight inconvenience of wearing a mask is A) incredibly self centered and narcissistic, B) Non- patriotic and C) Illogical.

Plus the world health organization said healthy people shouldn't wear masks, because masks will trap bacteria and make you more likely to get sick. But everyone ignores that part. At some point the world is going to have to move on. Are we gonna wear masks for the rest of our lives? There are limits to how much the government controls us, and I think forcing us to wear masks is violating that limit. Like I said, it isn't about what we should do but what we are forced to do.
@@thefurycommander1843 The point is that healthy people can be asymptomatic carriers. We don't wear masks to protect ourselves from getting Covid, we wear masks to prevent OTHERS from getting Covid. I've never heard anyone talking about masks making people sick...that sounds utterly silly. Surgeons and doctors wore masks everyday almost all day before Covid. In some Asian countries with high air pollution like Japan or China, people wear masks and have been doing so before the pandemic. If you are using dry, fresh and clean masks everytime you go out (and either dispose of or wash masks once coming home) then there's no reason there should be harmful bacteria buildup considering the bacteria would be coming from your own breath, not from outside of the mask. Simply don't reuse a mask once you've been outside without washing it first. That's all there is to it. Having the public wear masks is not an unreasonable thing to ask of people. It's a minor annoyance. It's not like they are insisting that everyone submit our fingerprints and DNA to the government and have tracking chips installed in our bodies and all our devices.

PORTUGUÊS: Stephen estava na cama descansando. Todos em #Heels foram muito bons, ligando pra ele e oferecendo conversar com ele até sobre esportes, pra ele não se sentir sozinho no isolamento. Em Heels ele vai falar com sotaque da Geórgia. Já fez cenas de beijo, ele é casado na série. Seu personagem tem momentos engraçados. Ele ainda gosta de fazer as cenas mais arriscadas sem usar dublê. Ele não sabe como contraiu Covid, eles são testados no set o tempo todo e Stephen sempre procurou ser responsável, usando máscara e distanciamento social, mesmo quando viajou para o Canadá. Stephen acordou suando muito e com febre, ao se levantar se sentia tonto e com frio. Perdeu o apetite, perdeu mais de 7 quilos em 3 semanas. Não teve medo de morrer, porque está em ótima forma, seu medo foi o de "destruir" a série e pensou em todas as pessoas que dependem desse emprego na série, sentiu-se decepcionado com ele mesmo. Ele estava sozinho na Geórgia e não podia se exercitar durante a recuperação, No dia de sua volta ao set, sua cena seria no ringue, mas ele achou arriscado, pois estava se recuperando ainda. Eles concordaram e mudaram de cena. Stephen odeia perder dias de trabalho, já trabalhou doente em Arrow, mas durante sua recuperação só podia descansar sozinho. Durante a quarentena no Canadá, ele se sentia tão inseguro sobre se Heels ia ou não acontecer, que ligou a Greg Berlanti, se oferecendo para ser Oliver Queen de novo. Greg, claro, concordou. Stephen se encontrou com Emily depois de Arrow, mas não vê David Ramsey há um ano e sente saudades dele. Também se sente triste de não estar mais nos possíveis crossovers. se eles acontecerem neste ano. Perguntado sobre legado, Stephen diz que está numa fase de transição. Ele gostaria que sua imagem fosse a de alguém que se dedica totalmente ao que faz. Ele fica feliz quando pensa que, nesta pandemia, algumas pessoas aproveitam o tempo livre vendo todos os episódios de Arrow. Cass ficou calma quando ele ligou pra ela, Stephen estava preocupado com ela. Stephen se sente culpado pela doença. Michael lhe diz que não foi culpa dele. Stephen sempre foi responsável, sempre seguiu as recomendações necessárias, mas o que acontece é que a vida tem de seguir, as pessoas precisam ir ao mercado, se encontrar com outras pessoas. (Stephen já voltou ao trabalho e está ótimo, graças a Deus - nota da Mara).

I'd really like to see Sarah Michelle Gellar on the podcast. Hearing her talk about the Buffy days and her rise to fame in a way that she never has before, or her experience working with Robin Williams would be awesome.

@@aliciaborth3016 Well it's clear that he is the type of guy that just can't sit still for a long time and be satisfied. But 8 years + however much prep there was between making the pilot and then when the work on the actual show started. And the fact that they where doing 23 episodes for the first 5 seasons is bound to make you exhausted.
It's why I think every CW show should follow the black lightning model. Do 16 episodes per season that way the actors get enough time to miss it, while also being able to do other things or just take the time to relax between seasons depending on how much they want to work. Sure for most people being able to have that big of a break because you are making a lot of money isn't an option. But if you are working 12-16 hour days from august to late april or even mid may. With only a short holiday break inbetween even if you already lived there, it would be alot to ask of anyone especially when ur starting a family.
Yes the money is nice and when your kids are really young, and when they become teenagers wanting to be away from their parents you can do that more. But look at people who do voice acting, I keep hearing the same story over and over, someone was on a hit show for a set number of years and realized they missed so much of their first kids ubringing that they decided to slow down once they got their second kid.
@BeyondEnchantment Actually that is incorrect, both Legends and Black Lightning both started and continues to have shorter seasons because they have more than one person that is considered number 1 on the callsheet, and they put more money into production per episode. Routh after they made season 1, said he thought going in that jumping from Arrow to Legends, with lower episode count that it would be less work because it would be divided among the cast and he started working more because they were almost always in scenes together.
As for Stargirl they can't raise the episode count because it started on DC universe and they can't afford the budget needed to keep the effects be on the same level as season 1.
The only new show that won't last is Batwoman unless they really manage to clean up the mess season 1 created, Black Ligtning will make it to 100 episodes at least. Superman and Lois will probably become their number one show next year. While Flash has the biggest chance of making it 10 seasons, since I still believe that they will find a way to make the 2024 date mean somthing, even though the meaning has to be changed. It's also why they are adding so many cast members that they don't have to pay as much. They want Grant to get a decent amount of recovery time, instead of having to be in almost every scene so that he is willing to renegotiate his contract after this season. Just look at what happened with Amell after season 5 and they no longer had to do the flashbacks.

I've binged on the entire Arrowverse since I started self-quarantine back in March. When Arrow came out, I wasn't very excited TBH; The Flash was more my thing. I loved the first Flash/Supergirl crossover so much that I thought I'd just binge on those two shows while I was home. Then, I thought, if I was going to do it right, I should watch the entire Arrowverse in order. So, I have. What they did with the Green Arrow was very cool. Personally, I'd like to see more of Oliver Queen as Spectre.
Thank you Michael for bringing Stephen back. I admired his interview where he had a panic attack on air then coming back to explain why he had one. Seeing your favorite actor or actress deal with the same things we fans do is so refreshing.. Jared Padalecki's interview made me feel so much closer to him. You are amazing at your job, Michael. You are my Lex Luthor for life. Love you man.

I am very glad Steven got through this and is healthy now. It is not fear mongering when we talk about what can happen because it’s so different for each person. I am a nurse and I seen this disease be extremely different and people who seem to be very similar in medical condition prior to getting this disease. Thank you thank you for speaking out about getting Covid.

Michael Rosenbaum and John Glover were the best interpretation of the Luther family ever known to date. Your parts on Smallville by far were the most complex in the show and many different shows in my opinion. It would be fun to see you take your place in more shows or movies. Hearing Stephen's Covid experience is strangely calming to me. I've had serious anxiety this entire year (for obvious reasons) and while I know the risk is still there, hearing you guys talk about it makes me think "it's gonna be all right." So thank you Michael.

Any doctor who's ever filled out a death certificate understands that there are always comorbidities and contributing factors. The 6% of death certificates where no other contributing factors were included were likely not completely filled out. Please don't share this misinformation anymore.
It's always better to be safe than sorry, social distanxr, wear masks but you still have to live your life stress and being scared everyday and cooped up at home (unless your elderly) think about the all the negative effects that causes. What boggles my mind is the that no one pays attention to if covid-19 wasn't a wake up call to eat healthier exercise more and try to get in the best shape/nutrition advise Stephen Amell gives, if covid 19 doesn't scare you into doing that nothing will.

I just finally watch The entire Arrow show, and I can say that this guy is amazing in that role. He is the reason why the CW was able to make all these other shows. Fantastic job man.
Woulda been great to hear both actors trade stories on their time during each show, they both used the same filming crews, directors and locations (The Queen mansion was also used as the Luthor mansion in Smallville). Great show though!

I used to feel the same way before COVID happened about people coming into my job with the flu or cold. Why would you go out and spread your germs ! I gotta work! Colds made me miserable where I was barely able to work. I would lose most times two nights of sleep. Also, My mom had to get hospitalized a couple of times for a simple cold because of her lung issues. I say masks should be worn not just for COVID, but for the flu and the cold as well. The flu and colds can kill immune compromised and high risk people too. I think it’s hypocritical to wear masks for COVID and not for colds and flus to protect high risk, immune compromised people.

All this while, Superman has always been my favorite DC hero. But Stephen's version of Oliver Queen changed that. For the first time, I prefer Oliver Queen over Clark Kent. I don't care how different he is from the comic, what I do care is how a character could give a long lasting impact to me, to the point that I don't want anybody else to play that same character. Stephen did deliver in that sense. Just like Micael for Lex and RDJ for Iron Man.

I like Stephen. Seems like a really good guy. There's a lack of conscientious people in the world and it's nice to see a celebrity who's grounded and thinks of the people around him, maybe even more so than himself.

I've since been fiendishly going through every episode and I'm absolutely blown away by the quality of the content. Kubrick failed to complete " A.I. Artificial Intelligence." Stanley Kubrick began working on A.I. when he acquired the rights to Brian Aldiss' story "Supertoys Last All Summer Long" in the 70s. Development stalled for years because Kubrick felt CGI was not advanced enough to create the David character, Kubrick could not imagine any child actor pulling it off.

I consider it to be my moral responsibility as a decent human being to CARE. I absolutely HATE wearing masks. My glasses fog up, my face gets hot and sweaty, my ears ache and the straps mess with my hearing aids, I have breathing difficulties ... but I still wear a freaking mask! I'm at extremely low risk as I live in an isolated Canadian village of 600 people and rarely come out of my house (I'm an introvert and I don't really have reasons to go out). I'm 25 and have a strong immune system. I have made the choice to not physically go to church service or physically get together with extended family. I'm at very low risk of getting covid but I am still diligent in following guidelines because I CARE. I'm surrounded by elderly and older people in my village, whom I know and would not wish a cold on.
The point is that it shouldn't be forced, not that it shouldn't be done.
@@thefurycommander1843 Why not enforce it though? It's not an issue of going against religious or political beliefs, it's backed by science. It's logic.
They enforce the laws of traffic (for example stopping at a crosswalk), as well as enforcement of licences for driving and hunting and gun ownership etc. They enforce food, weapons, drugs etc from entering countries because of the negative impact it could have on the country.
What's the likelyhood that your food will drastically effect the country negatively? It's likely very low but you never know so they don't want to take the chance.
These rules, laws and enforcements are for other people's safety and the good of the nation, it's not just for your safety and interests. The pandemic effects everyone and we should all do our part to lessen the spread.
It's not a political or religious belief issue, it's LOGICAL and anyone who complains about the slight inconvenience of wearing a mask is A) incredibly self centered and narcissistic, B) Non- patriotic and C) Illogical.
@@amandasnider2644 Forcing someone to follow traffic rules does not harm the person. Whether you have health problems or not wearing masks are not healthy. Plus the world health organization said healthy people shouldn't wear masks, because masks will trap bacteria and make you more likely to get sick. But everyone ignores that part. At some point the world is going to have to move on. Are we gonna wear masks for the rest of our lives? There are limits to how much the government controls us, and I think forcing us to wear masks is violating that limit. Like I said, it isn't about what we should do but what we are forced to do.
@@thefurycommander1843 The point is that healthy people can be asymptomatic carriers. We don't wear masks to protect ourselves from getting Covid, we wear masks to prevent OTHERS from getting Covid. I've never heard anyone talking about masks making people sick...that sounds utterly silly. Surgeons and doctors wore masks everyday almost all day before Covid. In some Asian countries with high air pollution like Japan or China, people wear masks and have been doing so before the pandemic. If you are using dry, fresh and clean masks everytime you go out (and either dispose of or wash masks once coming home) then there's no reason there should be harmful bacteria buildup considering the bacteria would be coming from your own breath, not from outside of the mask. Simply don't reuse a mask once you've been outside without washing it first. That's all there is to it.
Having the public wear masks is not an unreasonable thing to ask of people. It's a minor annoyance. It's not like they are insisting that everyone submit our fingerprints and DNA to the government and have tracking chips installed in our bodies and all our devices.

PORTUGUÊS: Stephen estava na cama descansando. Todos em #Heels foram muito bons, ligando pra ele e oferecendo conversar com ele até sobre esportes, pra ele não se sentir sozinho no isolamento.
Em Heels ele vai falar com sotaque da Geórgia. Já fez cenas de beijo, ele é casado na série. Seu personagem tem momentos engraçados. Ele ainda gosta de fazer as cenas mais arriscadas sem usar dublê.
Ele não sabe como contraiu Covid, eles são testados no set o tempo todo e Stephen sempre procurou ser responsável, usando máscara e distanciamento social, mesmo quando viajou para o Canadá. Stephen acordou suando muito e com febre, ao se levantar se sentia tonto e com frio. Perdeu o apetite, perdeu mais de 7 quilos em 3 semanas. Não teve medo de morrer, porque está em ótima forma, seu medo foi o de "destruir" a série e pensou em todas as pessoas que dependem desse emprego na série, sentiu-se decepcionado com ele mesmo.
Ele estava sozinho na Geórgia e não podia se exercitar durante a recuperação, No dia de sua volta ao set, sua cena seria no ringue, mas ele achou arriscado, pois estava se recuperando ainda. Eles concordaram e mudaram de cena. Stephen odeia perder dias de trabalho, já trabalhou doente em Arrow, mas durante sua recuperação só podia descansar sozinho.
Durante a quarentena no Canadá, ele se sentia tão inseguro sobre se Heels ia ou não acontecer, que ligou a Greg Berlanti, se oferecendo para ser Oliver Queen de novo. Greg, claro, concordou.
Stephen se encontrou com Emily depois de Arrow, mas não vê David Ramsey há um ano e sente saudades dele. Também se sente triste de não estar mais nos possíveis crossovers. se eles acontecerem neste ano.
Perguntado sobre legado, Stephen diz que está numa fase de transição. Ele gostaria que sua imagem fosse a de alguém que se dedica totalmente ao que faz. Ele fica feliz quando pensa que, nesta pandemia, algumas pessoas aproveitam o tempo livre vendo todos os episódios de Arrow.
Sobre Covid, Stephen se emociona e enfatiza que todas as pessoas têm de ser responsáveis pelo processo, pra que possamos resolver isso, porque uma vacina pra todos pode demorar. Covid é super contagioso e, se as pesssoas não seguirem as recomendações da ciência, podem passar Covid a outros, mesmo sem perceber... E pessoas podem morrer.
Temos todos de fazer nossa parte. Sua ansiedade veio do medo de decepcionar centenas de pessoas que trabalham com ele e de passar Covid pra alguém. Alguns de seus amigos contraíram Covid e ele se pergunta se não foi ele quem passou a doença pra eles, mesmo tomando os devidos cuidados e evitando lugares cheios de gente.
Cass ficou calma quando ele ligou pra ela, Stephen estava preocupado com ela. Stephen se sente culpado pela doença.
Michael lhe diz que não foi culpa dele. Stephen sempre foi responsável, sempre seguiu as recomendações necessárias, mas o que acontece é que a vida tem de seguir, as pessoas precisam ir ao mercado, se encontrar com outras pessoas.
