The legend I knew was Harley. I met Harley about 19yrs ago as he, one of his friends, and I were the (only 3) on the pier during late May. Not sure if that ever happens anymore, but thankful to have experienced that. He taught me some great tricks for flounder that day. He was so nice and helpful in areas I didn’t have knowledge such as the flounder tricks he showed me. Glad there’s still guys like that.

What a humble and knowledgable fella, these are the type of guys you wanna watch, say hello to, ask questions and Offer to Help if your Able! Fishing buddies is a stronger kinship than any, That's the oldest brotherhood humankind has had! Pier fishing is Special in itself.

I absolutely love that pier I've caught so many fish, a nice little secret is in October and November you can catch an insane lady fish bite at night I've caught multiple lady fish that were over 5lbs the biggest was probably 6 1/2lbs maybe next time I'll register it for the state record. Stay bummy.

When I took up fishing again at a local community lake the old timers were very helpful in showing me how to catch fish. Now I'm one of the old timers helping newbies. Looking forward to a Bama peir fishing trip and some beach exploring.

Love that you are branching out and showing off more of what the area has to offer. Grew up spending spring break on the old pier. The people are always friendly and willing to help. You just have to ask and respect them.
The challange of the surf is still a bigger draw to me but nice to have options. Can't wait to see more vids.

Seth Hutchison Surf Fishing will always be my passion and main focus for the channel. But I am definitely excited about a different style of fishing closely related to it.

I would not have known all of that. The last time I fished there we fished near the entrance just past where you check in. We are going down there this summer for a family reunion this summer. It will be interesting to see "The Gulf Shores Shuffle".

My youngest brother taught me how to trolley fish for mackerel off the ends of piers in North and South Carolina. An interesting 2 rod method of fishing, requiring an anchor line and a bait line.
I have only hooked one King in that fashion. It seems both of us were too green and close to the pier. He broke me off on the barnacles of a pieling. Otherwise, I have won my name in the Myrtle Beach paper on a half dozen occassipns, catching Spanish big enough to get an award for.
I'll take it! As you have stated, Spanish are good eating when they are fresh.

I believe you can rent a rod on the pier for cheap. You should double check that, but it is a good option.

Great information. Taking husband there for vacation in two weeks and hoping he will cast a line or two for relaxation. I'm excited to see how he reacts to it all! we are not residents of Alabama and wondered about obtaining fishing license in order to fish off of pier. Any recommendations?

    • @BamaBeachBum

Yes, you can go to outdooralabama.com and purchase a pier fishing license there!

Watching your old videos. Heard needed to watch 30 seconds of ad for you to get credit. Now after ad ends, screen goes white with Skip Ads still up. Is that UA-cams way of making you not get credit? 15 second ad now 5 more seconds with nothing happening. I don't skip even though that's the 2nd one. Any idea?
