    Who are Kara and Nate?!
Watch our documentary here: • 100th COUNTRY DOCUMENTARY
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this travel vlog to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time.
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Kara & Nate, there is a reason you always get treated well when you travel in luxurious accommodations, airlines,or trains; you treat the the staff as friends not as servants. Those passengers who travel this way see them as subservient to them. Love your channel.

That's a pretty big assumption on your part, it only shows your prejudice. Many of us who do travel well don't treat people like dirt, or like servants. We've figured out the best experience is to treat others well, and yes, like friends.

i took those same etiquette courses Nate... 10:30 top utensils are dessert spoon and fork... and Kara was correct; start from the outside and move your way inward. • @familyupgrade
    @familyupgrade Рік тому +2

In my youth I was a waitress on some bretty fancy places and gatherings. You work outside toward the plate, top ones are always dessert. If there are several glasses, you go from right to left, as most ppl are righthanded. A coffie spoon is placed on the coffiecups plate. A butterknife should be on the breadplate or with the butter, never with your personal utensils. I also know the correct spacing for the utensils and plates and glasses and cups, but hey, who cares about that? The best trick is to use any of them as you wish, the bad manner move is to either behave insecurely about the large selection or being the rude one to point out others fault. Just relax! Confidence is the best dress. /Catta from Sweden

This is an amazing video by you guys! As a trainspotter myself it’s nice to see what it’s like to travel on the luxury trains I always go out and see on the rails. Next time your over here in the U.K. you should try out the Midland Pullman, or the “Blue Pullman” as it is nicknamed due its bright blue colour. Thanks for sharing this video as I really enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing more railway related content soon.
    Ned

As a food addict, I think I watch your videos so I can watch you eat, and live vicariously through you for the present moment. LOL. Seriously, your videos are very interesting, and this one in particular was just excellent.

Regarding the utensils: the ones at the top are for dessert, but as a general rule, "when in doubt, start from the out[side]" 🤓🍽

In this video, Kara and Nate remind me of Jack Dawson dining in the first class section in the movie Titanic. They might not know all the bourgeois dining rules, but their character outmatches all in class and tact! ❤️

What a fun set of train trips! Regarding silverware, tables were set with everything that was needed for the full dinner that would be served, but given you had options on the train, they had to set based on what you *could* have, thus the fish knife that you didn’t use. For silverware, typically you start from the outside and work your way toward the plate, per course. The fork and spoon above the plate are for dessert courses (some take a fork, some a spoon.) 😊

Hi Nate and Kara. Huge fan…have been watching your videos since beginning of the pandemic. Etiquette tips….the spoon and fork placed at the top of the plate are for dessert….using the edge of the spoon to cut through pastry, cake, etc… Also, looks like you have three courses… 1) Salad or Appetizer 2) Entree and 3) Dessert. Quick tip..never soil a eating utensil and put back on tablecloth…rest on plate.

One thing that sets you two apart from many other influencers, is your ability to include the history of a place and experience. So refreshing! You also do it in a humorous quirky way, which is unique to your channel. You guys appear to be a bit burnt out though, rushing from one experience ( country ) to the next.. hopefully off camera you have enough time to both chill, work and immerse yourself in the magic of where you are?

Creme Fraiche (Crem Fresh) is a thinner cream cheese. Dairy goods are so crazy in each country. It's all the same stuff, just so many variations on a theme! Thinner, thicker, sweeter, more sour, flavored, etc.

i believe creme fraiche is acidgulated cream, so basically whip cream up lightly and add lemon juice, the lemon juice thickens the cream further
