+Akshat Rajan nah, ruining driveways is normal. Ruining super-clean garage floor because the tray was too small? That's Roadkill. Now quantity of the fluid is not nearly that of a 5l V8, so yeah, not enough for Roadkill.
For those who are wondering... The likely power output was around 63 bhp, and the Vmaxscart MPI kit will take it to 100 bhp, 58% power increase! (As well as a lot more torque both low and high range)
I understand what Moog is saying, I learned to drive in a Renault 4 (probably slower than the mini) but had so much fun that the crappy horsepower really didn't bother me. I find 500 + hp cars fascinating, but I still find myself going towards crappy fun cars.
+EthanArtz™ I think that's why so many people enjoy miatas. They have well under 150hp but the handle so well and are a blast to drive neglecting how slow they are.
+s4n714g000 I understand where youre coming from. I love pos cars more than new cars. simply for the reason that when I beat on them I don't really feel bad and it's always funny when you're like ''oh god'' either because you're surprised or scared of death. 95 rusty corolla 1.6 manual 250k miles on it for 500$ was the best year and a half I've spent with a car. what a champ.
I also think you learn to respect HP. Learn to drive in a car with no power steering, no airbags, no "traction control" and you'll start off pretty good. (not bashing on those who didn't learn to drive in a deathtrap, It's just my point of view) The important thing to get out of all of this, is that we learn to love and respect every car, not everyone has a 500 hp muscle car, or a super sporty japanese import. And not everyone likes both of them...
+Mari Onette Completely agree with you, especially since starting on an overpowered machine is the exact mistake I made with my first bike. For 2 years the only pleasure i got was squeezing the gas on straightaways, and was ridiculously limping my way through corners... As i got better i was contemplating more and more switching to a little ninja 300 just to enjoy simple fun. No doubt that I would have had much more fun and more skills if I directly started with that kind of bike !
I truly loved my mini. 1990 Cooper in British Racing Green, and some rust of course. I spent a fortune getting the rust removed, then shoved on a stage 1 kit (straight through pipe, rejet and K&N filter), plus 7x13 Ultralight wheels. I could take on lots of fast cars around the twistys! I love this project, keep it coming!
I like the way you asked Marty if this was the right corner and he said "no next one" and you still went around the corner because you were "committed" (which means you had indicated, slowed and was able to take the corner) without changing your mind and just pulling back into traffic and almost causing an accident. Thumbs up!!! Moog mate there are not many drivers on the roads like you.
+gaz south yeah look up the youtube vid "My 900+ HP Toyota Supra TURBO". Its a story about this dude that got so fixated with the numbers and power he was making that it just took away from the whole experience.
Your videos always impress me guys, production value, musical scores, camera work. You guys genuinely do a great job editing and putting the effort into your videos. But on top of it all, you guys remember to wish people like me a happy birthday every year from the forum and when I have responded, I've actually got responses back from you! Dedication to your fans is an amazing thing. Genuinely love you guys, wish I could meet you when I come down to Australia in December!
That Mini is absolutely gorgeous. I love the British racing green with the white coachlines. But that interior makes my jaw drop. The green leather and that beautiful wood! I love this car.
Moog, Marty, this section of Mighty Car Mods is very special. The Mini you are showcasing is absolutely beautiful and the project will resonate in a dedicated way to each individual regardless if they are a fan of the car or not. But what really came to mind when I watched this episode and the unveiling of the Mini episode, was my own realization of how well evolved the quality of production your channel has undergo and how the details of quality ranging from picture, editing, lighting, content, and the collaboration of individual talents ( music, AM Auto, personality...) have meshed together to create the quality videos we get to enjoy. Thank you and I look forward to what's to come.
thdmtr Holy shit bro who took a shit in your cereal, Im guessing humor and sarcasm are not your strong point. You know why I like Australia MOST Australians because it is the last country on earth you can have true intercontinental banter with. MOST of the people there understand the concept of a joke.
The comment Moog makes about the HP of the car is so spot on. I would go as far as to say it's one of the most inspired and well thought out comments I've seen in a car video, ever. It's so true that your car becomes the number of horses under the hood (think of all the other UA-cam video titles - "1200 HP Supra"). The explanation is very insightful as well. We'll put Moog, well put.
I completely agree with moog about how the numbers can ruin the experience. I have a 1995 Saab 900 2.3 non-turbo, and I love it. It's widely known to be much slower than the turbo models, but in my experience, it doesn't take away from the fun. It doesn't always matter what your numbers are, because in the end, the car is just fun to drive. Thankfully, it still smokes fart can civics.
The "Don't want to know the numbers" rant... Unreal. MOOG! Ya big hipster. Lovin' your work. Been watching the channel for months and at about 80%. Pretty soon I'm going to run out of content and then I'll be sad. :( Can't wait to see more of Al's Turbo Diesel series!
My grandparents surprised me last year with a used 05 Mini Cooper convertible and I love the thing to pieces! It reminds me of the go kart I had years ago. What the mini lacks in horsepower it makes up for in cornering and considering I have the cheapest tired available, it sticks to the ground. Just last year my uncle and I machined a custom shifter knob out of a chunk of aluminum. I'm very happy that BMW made the standard transmission an option for the mini as well because that adds to the fun factor. On top of that, these little cars do surprisingly well in snowy conditions. My mom has an 08 GMC Acadia SLT with the best set of all season tires available and yet it slides all over the place. And her car is front wheel drive too and we both have open differentials. Don't judge a book by its cover, go for a ride in a mini before you make up your mind!
You guys are truly awesome, it's incredible how down to earth and humble you are considering how popular you are around the world. Truly an inspirational pair of dudes for me personally, keep up the high quality content boys 👍👌
You guys should check out Project Binky! Some crazy englishmen putting a Celica GT4 drivetrain and engine in a Mini, WITHOUT making wild exterior mods to make it fit! Its CRAZY!
I have a 2006 Mini Cooper s and I have to say I absolutely love your car and I'm so excited to see how the supercharger turns out! I've always wanted to own an old Mini and give it some mad power!
I watched this series just after I sold my 1991 Mini Cooper and this series made me want it back again. Eventually I've bought a 2000 Mini Cooper the last of the great Minis! which I love by the way. Great videos and I'd love to see more videos on your JDM Mini.
and as he sits here patiently waiting for the next episode. the young boy can only imagine how much fun that mini must be to drive.... BEST.SHOW.EVER. Keep dropping the videos cause they inspire and motivate a lot of non petrol heads to become petrol heads and is really entertaining to learn from...
+SonofSilas Maybe we get all the MCM fans out there to go buy themselves a Daewoo Matiz. Then we do a few episodes on them. Then once they've increased in value, we all sell them and go buy Supras with the profit!
Isn't there just something so very cool and good about seeing some good friends having a proper grin together : ) Made my day to see this. Thanks fellas !
Me and my partner have an 88 mini from Japan. It's capacity is only 998cc but we were amazed at the power hike we got from a better exhaust , twin carb and electronic ignition upgrade. I cant imagine how much fun a supercharged 1275cc version would be but I'm sure it will be an absolute blast. Looking forward to the finished result !
I like the small interviews and stories behind the individuals who are helping or providing parts. Brings more life into the video and gives it more body... Even for just a 19min video.
mighty car mods, you are awesome. You have one big time fan here in southern Illinois, in the U.S.A. I'm a full time mechanic and love the stuff you guys do!
Skylar Garrett Cool less fun for you and more fun for me. Keep your opinions to yourself. Obviously you're just mad cause we can have fun in a $2000 car while you sit behind your computer crying cause you can't.
I have a friend who is all about the Germans powering his cars. All I have is an older Fiesta 1.3 but the feel of driving it makes me happy. It just wants to go and its fun to drive. I have driven quite a few other cars but none of them have been such a pleasure to drive. I understand the feeling of driving something with personality.
Always some guest who do all the work.. I miss the old times.. People learn from mistakes. If professional do all the work, then mistakes do not happen. Losing respect episode by episode...
Just love the old Mini, way back in Denmark was my very first car and I'm 6' 2" tall, had small racing steering in it just so I could get in first gear, here in Canada they really look tiny, love your show
This brings back memories, my first car was a 998cc Leyland Mini. I'm not religious, but with 4 wheel drum brakes I had to pray and use engine braking to stop in city traffic. But it loved corners and you could park it anywhere! Biggest problem was when you hit a big pothole and the sump smacked into the road. The engine would cut out and the dash would fall apart, but it always started up again :)
Moogs face when he pushes the accelerator says it all, thats the way our cars should make us feel ! Like my little Nissan March, didnt care about the power it was a fun little car and I loved it!
I have no experience of working on cars at all but I really enjoy your video's. They are awsome and it makes me wanting to buy a car and start to learn everyting about how to do modifications myself! Keep up the mad and informative video's guys!
of course it's part 1. IT'S ALWAYS PART 1. Great vid though, you guys always amaze me with how you keep up the formatting of the show. Can't wait for part 2!
Amazing to see you guys in my country - "They like going to the pub because its dark at 4 and they've got nothing else to do" - you have no idea how right you are.
I owned a 2002 Mini S....for 2yrs, it was great never got a chance to mod it, the quote people say smiles for gallon....that saying really lives in Mini Cooper ownership. I know its not like the original but thrill is awesome. Mooooar plz!
Glad to see Dose Vader expanded upon a bit! He always just seemed to blend in the background in the other videos. It was fun to learn about him a little.
So excited guys! Mad respect for reasons on not knowing Dyno numbers, can't say I relate too much (from having no Dyno time) but I can understand the reasoning.
the naturally aspirated sound at 14.36 is intoxicating. Fun build, awesome car. I have a feeling the Supercharger whine, though, may hurt the experience. Can't wait to see. (great video!!!)
I feel the same way about my S2000 Moog. It's a fun car to drive. Sure it has more flappy unicorns than what I was driving previously, but regardless it's so fun to just attack a corner or let the top down and hear it rev at 8000 RPM. Even before I owned my S2000 driving a classic Mini was always on my list of things to do with cars. They're iconic.
Back when I had my S13 I had felt the same way Moog does now. The stock KA only made about 150 and 20 years+ abuse from numerous owners later who knows what it had, but it was just a blast to drive all the time. It always had this feel to it and I didn't care whether it had 100hp or 300hp, it was just a great car to cruise around in.
Its really nice you bring up that its not about numbers. It feels like the whole community is just obsessed with how much power things make. Also, I hope it makes a good noise. The Eaton M90 on my Xterra sounds great and this is the smaller sibling so you should get some good vibrations from it. Can't wait.
you guys are the best car show going right now ( im from canada ). I get a million TV channels and there is more on youtube but i enjoy your guy's builds. mentality and humor the best. Keep it up. @mightycarmods you guys are the shit and you deserve all the success in the world ! #mightycarmods
I feel for Dos Vader, I lost my father at 19 as well. Mini's didn't run in my family though, but after seeing it here I really have grown to like them a lot.
Best cars ever. I've had a mini for 9 years and am building a turbo engine for one but this was really intresting to see. Awesome video, supercharged mini =
That thing sounds and looks mint even before you charge it - and I so agree about not knowing about the dyno. I love cars because of how they make you feel, and when I get to tweak my MX5 that'll be my guiding light.
I can't believe it. I've been watching you guys in Aus for years and then Marty ends up 15 minute from my house to pick up the super charger. Gutted I couldn't have popped by to say hi.
Guys, your videos are awesome! I've owned 3 minis over the years bot in France and Sydney Australia. I've switched to an MGB but gosh I do miss my minis though! Cool project, I'm looking into supercharging my b engine too.
This is such a cool project you guys! Very informative too as I've been thinking about the possibilities of supercharging over turbocharging. Ican't wait to see more of this :)
What the fudge! You were in the UK and didn't do a massive meet up for mcm crazy maaaaaad ppl! Gutted! My civic type r runs 380bhp after all the inspiration from you guys! Stage 3 supercharged !
Shoutout to my grandpa because that's the only way he can hear.
lol
+cleandmg1 hope you make it to the top.
ayy lamo
+cleandmg1 I'll pay that all day long haha

+icebreaker The wig, the catch phrase, the glasses, brilliant!
+Mighty Car Mods And that's why I love watching it, thank you!
+Mighty Car Mods That was mad car guys and their story

+TheLaXandro What tray? That's more of an afterthought.
He travelled to the arse end of London JUST for a supercharger? Nice :-) I have to respect the dedication and love for cars.

"I'm blowing my worm hole! I'm leaking down both thighs"!
That should be the next MCM shirt.
I didn't know you were allowed back in England. They put you on that island of yours for a reason, right?
You really don't understand what a joke is
You see that asteroid in space way over your head? Yeah that was the joke going that far over your head... life must be boring with no sense of humor

I agree with the Dyno talk, they are just numbers! so many things come into play with cars that shape the way they drive.
"reliability issues on the bmw mini" sounds about right.

Well, you did a video on supercharging before. Remember leafblowers?
This is epic. I can't wait for when I do a build series!!!

you guys better black out the intercooler. you guys proved it was more efficient that way :)
+Dylan Mckenzie It wasn't. Check Engineering Explained channel on this topic.
+Dylan Mckenzie Nope. As explained by Engineering Explained a black intercooler is less efficient. Their test was flawed.
Engineering explained isn't without faults either. Just throwing that out there.
+Freemananana Not on that specific video.
lolatmyage I haven't seen that specific video, but several of his videos are mis-informed. I did enjoy several of them though.
You could have let US know the dyno results!
+MattsMotorz Moog edits the videos!
Oh! Didn't know that!
they did say it was what it should be so off the top of my head it's about 63bhp
MCM does to the global price of Minis what they already did to the price of Cuores..
They were already expensive and increasing in value

the bmw 'mini' should be called a 'medium' instead, judging by the size of it.
so much for goin to bed....
Anyone talking shit about BMW obviously hasn't driven one. I was a Nissan 240sx fanboy, I tried a BMW E36 M3, now I respect BMWs...
+zRA1Nz They're specifically talking about the new Mini made by BMW. I don't think anyone thinks 'M' cars are crap... quite the opposite.

Huge amount of respect to you Moog for not wanting to know the dyno results of the Mini. I 100% agree that the feel means more than the statistics.

Thanks MCM for returning to this format!
Visited your channel to find I need to watch part 1,2,3,4 to be up to date MY day just got AWESOME
of course it's part 1.
Most definitely the best car channel on UA-cam hands down.
I owned a 2002 Mini S....for 2yrs, it was great never got a chance to mod it, the quote people say smiles for gallon....that saying really lives in Mini Cooper ownership. I know its not like the original but thrill is awesome. Mooooar plz!
Wow.. this is a step up in production values yet again.. Love the people/human story too plus this is a truly special upgrade for the car.
Love 'proper' Minis!!!!!! I've had 2 and would love to get one like this, the 1.3i.That's a sweet looking motor, guys. Can't wait for the rest.....
They're iconic.
so down for this series! always wanted to learn more about superchargers! can't wait to see this process! this will be MAAADDD!!!
For a while mcm fell, then out of nowhere amazing stuff came out I have always loved you guys!!!
Its really nice you bring up that its not about numbers. It feels like the whole community is just obsessed with how much power things make. Also, I hope it makes a good noise. The Eaton M90 on my Xterra sounds great and this is the smaller sibling so you should get some good vibrations from it. Can't wait.
+Tygur All Tuner cars on the internet make 600hp, except Supra's which make 800. Fact.
i remember the first time i drove a turbocharged mini, i was blown away by the car. on how well it handled hit corners. they have mad grip.
The passion in this video is amazing! so cool to watch again guys
Nice change of pace to see you guys put a supercharger on something. I can't wait to see how much power you'll make!
Just subscribed to this channel was binge watching alot of the content yesterday, now I find this... This Channel is Mad Mate
As a Mini enthusiast and former owner - I love the Mini videos!! Maaaaaaad
you guys are the best car show going right now ( im from canada ). I get a million TV channels and there is more on youtube but i enjoy your guy's builds. mentality and humor the best. Keep it up. @mightycarmods you guys are the shit and you deserve all the success in the world ! #mightycarmods
Who disliked this, honestly? You guys are great. Keep it going and truly, thanks for the video, sharing!
I feel for Dos Vader, I lost my father at 19 as well. Mini's didn't run in my family though, but after seeing it here I really have grown to like them a lot.
Really enjoyed the quick bio of AM Auto. Turbo Yoda and Dose Vader are a class act.
Maaaaaaad. Can't wait to see it finished. A part of me has always wanted a mini.
Cool project, I'm looking into supercharging my b engine too.
you need to be consistent with your videos because it every 6 months you get a video of yourselves thanks guys
How happy this makes them makes me happy
